What I LOVE to see in big and exciting games like that is when the team that gets defeated has the good sportsmanship to make the winners feel worthy of winning... Teams that can do that, quite often will end up being winners down the road, IMO-!!! J/S 🙂😊👍✌

I can't find the quote but Jalen Wilson of KU who didn't attack and held the ball as Bacot hobbled past half court...he said that he had known Bacot from AAU circuits and they were both recruited by UNC and KU in 2019. Bacot went to UNC and Wilson went KU. Wilson took a recruting visit in 2019 to UNC after Bacot had already committed in late 2018. They got to know each other pretty well being recruited and almost being teammates. Not even the announcers could believe why KU wasn't attacking. It was a great season for UNC, and it's a shame Bacot went down. But both our squads are going to be really good again! I think now that Roy has retired, KU and UNC definitely need to play in the non-conference schedule!

Sorry for the INSANELY long history lesson, but I have been binge watching some old Kansas games myself this evening! :)

Kansas and UNC always have incredibly good games and are very closely linked. Kansas' second coach Forrest "Phog" Allen learned the game from KU's first coach, Dr. James Naismith. Phog Allen coached Dean Smith, a member of the 1952 Kansas NCAA Title Team. Smith went on to coach at UNC for 30+ years...going to 12 Final Fours and winning 2 titles. Larry Brown was a UNC grad and was an Assistant Coach under Dean Smith and eventually took over the Kansas job for 6 years in the 1980s. He took KU to 2 Final Fours and won the NCAA Title in 1988. Additionally, Roy Williams was an Assistant under Dean Smith at UNC and coached at Kansas from 1989-2003. One of the "greatest games ever played" was when UNC beat a Wilt Chamberlain led Kansas squad in the NCAA Title game in 1957. That game went 3 overtimes, UNC won 57-56. Additionally, no two teams have ever faced each other more times in the Final Four. The two programs have met each other 5 times in the final four, a NCAA record. 1957, 1991, 1993, 2008. 2022. UNC won the 1957 Title game and the 1993 semifinal to eventually win the NCAA Title. Kansas won the 1991 Semifinal but lost to Duke in the Title game (Coach K's first Championship). The 1991 and 1993 National Semifinal games pitted Dean Smith and Roy Williams against one another, Dean the mentor, Roy the old student. Roy Williams left Kansas in 2003 to Coach his Alma Mater, North Carolina. Bill Self (a former Assistant to Larry Brown at KU) took over the Kansas program in 2003 and won the 2008 National Semifinal against Williams' UNC squad en route to the NCAA title. And this year, 2022 the two programs met in the NCAA title game for the first time since 1957, and Kansas won the title, giving Self his 2nd NCAA title. Roy Williams retired at UNC in 2021, winning 3 National Titles there. He also took Kansas to 4 Final Fours and 2 NCAA title games. North Carolina's current Coach, Hubert Davis was a starter on the 1991 UNC Final Four team...the same team Roy Williams coached against. Hubert Davis was an assistant to Roy Williams at UNC for 9 seasons, taking the reigns this year. The connections between Kansas and North Carolina are STAGGERING, and the coaches at both schools can trace their coaching tree from the inventor, Dr. Naismith and his protege Phog Allen, to Dean Smith, to Larry Brown, to Roy Williams, and to current coaches Bill Self at Kansas and Hubert Davis at North Carolina. P.S. Another Jayhawk who was taught by Phog Allen was Adolph Rupp, who became an infamous Coach at Kentucky and won 4 NCAA titles. It's interesting, The Dean Dome at UNC and Rupp Arena at UK are named after Kansas Jayhawks!

@Wilt Chamberlain is the GOAT I don't like either UNC or Kansas, but all I know is that Kansas has been proven to be cheaters and despite all of my looking I have yet to see any proof of fake classes. The NCAA themselves said there wasn't enough proof to decide that UNC committed academic fraud.

Let’s not pretend the NCAA hasn’t been using these athletes who were not allowed to have a job as free labor to shove billions of dollars in their pocket. Yeah, Kansas did have a good comeback, but three of UNC's four best players got injured, Bacot was already playing on a sprained ankle and Manek got a literal concussion. By the way- McCormack and Agbaji were both recruited the same year that Bill Self got 5 level 1 recruiting violations, and both of them made a very big impact in the game so keep that in mind while you celebrate. PS: Stop using so many emojis, it's not cool, it's just cringy.

@Wilt Chamberlain is the GOAT actually that is incorrect. You can't make a team choke. Choking is when a team or player doesn't perform up to expectations because of their nerves or their own mistakes. If the defense shuts you down that is not choking. That's just great defense. Example Andre Drummond blocks 4 of my shots, that's not choking. Now me missing 4 wide open shots, that's choking. BTW: I DO AGREE that Wilt Chamberlain is the goat.

If Armando Bacot was 100% this game would completely be different. If Justin Moore was healthy Kansas would of never made the title game . Nova looked like a completely different team without him . I don't think Kansas gets past Creighton if Creighton's big man was able to play . He was hurt in the game before. Everything I said above doesn't matter though the fact is they were not able to play so Kansas wins , end of story.

I honestly think this was about the cleanest game I’ve seen called all freakin year. Big 12 play was like the Detroit Piston’s Jordan Rules. There were no egregious calls either way. And you blaming the refs discounts all the hard work your team did to get there. Now UNC and Baylor, that last 10 minutes was ludacris. At least 10 horribly missed calls in that. That game never should have gotten within 10 nevertheless OT
