Samuel Fleischacker is LAS Distinguished Professor of Philosophy at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is the author of many books, including On 'Adam Smith's "Wealth of Nations": A Philosophical Companion (2013)', 'Divine Teaching and the Way of the World: A Defense of Revealed Religion (2011)', 'The Good and the Good Book: Revelation as a Guide to Life (2015)', 'Being Me Being You: Adam Smith and Empathy (2019)', & most recently 'Adam Smith (2021)'. In today’s conversation, we’ll focus on his book 'What is Enlightenment?'.

Thank you for the conversation! I've glad to hear some thought on Kant's attitude to "think for yourself". The paraphrase "think responsibly" is clarify a lot.

Dude, you are so great. Have you heard of/read Marc D. Hauser? I know he has had an imperfect background, but his work on the biological basis for moral thinking is so crucial - a good compliment to John Mikhail.
