Thank you for this review🙏🏿🙏🏿 I am from the Tulunadu region where this story takes place. We worship both Panjurli and Guliga demigods. There are certain things which you did not get. Let me explain. 1. Each demigod is accompanied by one or more demigod which helps them in serving justice. It is called Banta in Tulu (Banta literally means servent, Soldier etc). In this movie Guliga is rhe accompanying demigod of Panjurli (main Demigod). Accompanying demigods are more cruel towards offenders. You can expect a forgiveness from the Main demigod (Panjurli) but not from the accompanying demigod Guliga (Banta of Panjurli) 2. The demigod which comes on Shiva in the climax is Guliga. In the traditional Bhoothakola / daivaradhana practice puffed rice is offered to Guliga along with chicken. When the awestruck villagers saw and identified Guliga on Shiva they offer him puffed rice out of devotion. Because they no more see Shiva there but they saw their Demigod Guliga. 3. Boothakola is performed by specified communities which are classified as Scheduled caste (SC). Where as believers usually belong to OBC (other backward class ), other upper castes (Like Bunts/ Shetty/Rai )and Brahmins . This is the beauty of the Tulunadu culture where everyone is accepted in the society and has a specific role to play. 4. Boothakola performances are passed as hereditary. Shiva was supposed to perform the ritual afer his father's mystical disappearance but he has chosen a different path forgetting his roots. But the demigod either in the form of Wild boar/pig /Panjurli or his father as Panjurli performer reminds him time to time about his roots and duties as a heir to this cultural and ritualistic practice. Finally at the end of the movie shiva finds his call as the Guliga demigod /daiva incarnates in him and reinstates justice. He returns to his duty as a hereditary boothakola performer. 5. We tuluvas believe in these demigods /spirits / daivas more than gods. Each ancestral home has a dedicated place /shrine/stone/ wooden plank representing the family daiva within the house premises where time to time offerings are made by the family members. Offering of boothakola ritual is done once in many years. Expenses are anywhere around 2lakh to 5 lakh rupees for the overnight ritual and it is shared by the family members. Most of the times simple offerings like live chicken , rice etc are made in yearly family worships which are not expensive. There are more than 1000 Demigods /daiva/spirit gods worshiped in the tulunadu region and each one of them have unique detailed stories.Some of these demigods were living humans like us who got elevated I to the form of Daiva/demigod because of their heroics or noble deeds.
Just saw the movie today. Excellent, mind blowing. Never thought a culture, a tradition will present this beautifully in a movie. Everytime I saw the 'daiva" scene and his epic roar : it's hit my mind and body and soul. Just couldn't get out of the vibe. Want to re-watch it again and again. Puri film ek taraf and the "daiva" scenes especially the climax will blow your mind. You will get scare but you r gonna cry too in devotion. Just don't don't don't miss this epic movie ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Kantara showed our i coastal side culture in very good manner. It's shooting was done near our city and they showed our culture very well. I am going to watch it next week with my family members. I am happy that people are loving this movie and appreciating it ❤️
its not our state culture but the culture of one small tribe of of the coastal region within the state. there are many cultures and many sidedness to the Kannada/Karnataka culture

I am so happy that this movie was actually promoted by RU-vidrs . It’s time that Indian cinema is not just restricted to Bollywood. The film makers in Mumbai underestimate the power of regional cinema. I want to watch more regional content so we can appreciate the soft power and rich culture of our country. There are serious good stuff made all over India and we should appreciate the content and diversity of our country. Coming to Kantara it was such a brilliant movie that every scene makes an impact. Loved the ending and overall treatment. I can watch it again . Good job you tuber for promoting this amazing masterpiece.

Watch - Ulidavaru Kandanthe. Even this must be watched in theatres. Just increase the volume and watch it. Rishab and rakshith Shetty are in the lead role. I recommended it to people of other states and they went mad. And they don't even understand Kannada properly.

First of all it's a " Kannada" Not a kannad.. Then in hindi version of kantara they dubbed only kannada to hindi and Tulu language as it is in the movie... It's a tulu language which they did not change in movie
All overhyped...nothing else....only rishabh performance is outstanding in last 15 mins...climax is really good...other 2 hrs is just like another regular south indian movie
