If I had to pick one musician able to pull such a project out of the blue (or blu) that would definitively be Kevin Starrs a.k.a. Uncle Acid and his DEADBEATS. The title of the new album is “Nell’ Ora Blu” and everything you wouldn't expect it to be it is. What is it? A soundtrack of a movie that has not been filmed. Intrigued by the audio experience after having “watched” “Nell’ Ora Blu”, METAL KAOZ connected with the director of said movie, and had a wonderful discussion about the making of the film as well as the immediate plans of UNCLE ACID & THE DEADBEATS. Without further ado, lights, camera, silence on the set, tape rolling and action!
UNCLE ACID & THE DEADBEATS have just released their sixth studio album “Nell’ Ora Blu” via Rise Above Records.

Upon first listen of this album I understood it was a story. The music, the artwork and the voice actors. It all sets a mood and allows the imagination to paint freely. Despite the language barrier I enjoy the album and the artistic creativity. Also good job with the interview, very informative.

Hi @Raza_Odiada I really appreciate you commenting and for your nice words. I agree, the language is a barrier but at the same time feeds into the movie atmosphere.

Thank you for this interview! We don’t get enough from Kevin Starrs. I love this record. Definitely something to put on after dark to listen start to finish. I can see why a lot of fans aren’t happy but I think to take a risk like this and put out something so artistic in this day and age is pretty remarkable! Thanks again for this!

I should be the one thanking you for listening to the interview. Indeed Kevin is pushing the envelope, something that to me translate to inspiration. Now, this is definitely not the usual music we get from Uncle and his Deadbeats.

This album is an absolute masterpiece. I have been listening to it non-stop since its release. The depth and sophistication is just stunning. It is more than an album. In the same way, and every bit as good as Pink Floyd's The Wall, it just pushes the boundaries, and I believe it will go down in history in the same fashion. In case you haven't heard of Uncle Acid and The Deadbeats, they are a modern day melding of early Iron Maiden, Pink Floyd, The Beatles and Black Sabbath. To anyone who loves classic rock, heavy metal and blues this band is the answer to your dreams. Thank you boys!!!

Thank you so much for watching the interview and for taking the time to comment. You are right, Uncle Acid have broken new ground with this record and really it has lots of potential. I am interested to see how the live shows will go and if the band will consider expanding the tour to present the visual aspect of this project to the fans. I think you can hear the excitement in Kevin's voice, and I am sure comments like yours will nudge him towards the right direction. I am extra happy for securing a vinyl copy of the record.

I’m not sure I agree. I commend them for expanding their scope of work, but I do not believe this album has the depth The Wall does. The Wall was able to explore so many themes (though nowhere near as clever as DSotM) while remaining a traditional rock album.

@@bcj575 I find it hard comparing albums especially of that importance. I think the depth of the aforementioned albums has to do with the listener's experience and perception. At the same time, this is exactly the reason why are masterpieces... My apologies for my rambling. Thank you for your comment.

Im n the minority but I love all their stuff. 70's horror cult films and music is my jam.

@@MetalKaozTube I really just want a few Nell' Ora Blu shows to go down like Kevin explained and have them shot well. I'd travel to England or wherever to catch that show if I could snag a ticket. Wonder if they'll tour again before putting out another rock-record.
@MetalKaozTube
@MetalKaozTube 2 месяца назад
@@stevesundstrom My guess is that they will add shows depending on the album's response. For us being on the other side of the Atlantic, I don't think it will happen. But like you said, if they plan to film them, it will be a good alternative.

All their albums have been great, especially wasteland. BUT this new one is lazy , and overindulgent. There are some good parts, but you have to wade through 45 minutes of garbage for 25 minutes of good. If they don't release a real album soon, they are going to lose a lot of fans. REAL fans.
@MetalKaozTube
@MetalKaozTube 2 месяца назад
First of all, thank you for taking the time to comment. I will not call "Nell' Ora Blu" lazy but different. Especially because this is not the music the band usually creates. If it were such, then they should have just copied themselves, right? When someone likes a band, I find it hard to stop supporting them because of one record not being of their liking.

It’s more of a trip type album then the more straight forward regular doom metal type stuff, try listening in to it on mushrooms, acid , or ketamine… I’ve literally developed a ketamine habit with this album😂I reminded my of being 14 or 15 listening to Floyd tripping my balls off in my bedroom…glorious 🖤

@@adrianhabig4936 In my case, this music bring forth some nostalgia thinking about the movies I watched when I was younger. I think the "trip-y" part you are talking about comes from the experience of creating your own imaginary based on the music and sounds of this album. And that's it's biggest asset.

I agree. I would take another album similar to Blood Lust over this any day. Not to say this kind of experimentation is bad, it’s actually a good direction to go in. I’m not sure what the band intended the audience to take away from it, as it feels a little pretentious.
