The Warlords look incredible man, you should be proud. Can't help wondering what a silverburst would look like with more of a teardrop shape to the finish. Awesome, I reckon!
Starrs go to is Earthquaker Devices Speaker Cranker - OD( discontinued ), he uses their Bit Commander -Octaver, Arrows V2 - Boost and Basic Audio Spooky Tooth -Fuzz in every show. Just seen them last month, amazing show. It was my teenage sons first concert and he was blown away by the power, King Buffalo were great too. We were hoping for Curse in the Trees in the set but you can't get everything you want, they opened with some Mt.Abraxas face melting righteousness. Too hard to pick a favourite but we learned Melody Lane, Withered Hand of Evil, Crystal Spiders and Deaths Door so far so we can jam together. Crystal Spiders is awesome live, it is played in C# and sounds heavier. Shockwave City and Curse in the Trees are others one we'd play but he couldn't find any tabs. Awesome video and gear brother, cheers.
Thanks so much for the lesson! “Death’s Door,” is actually the first song I ever heard form Uncle acid. I was instantly a fan. “Bloodlust,” is a great record through and through! “I’ll Cut You Down,” is a standard jam for me. Love your tones as always and that axe is SICK! Great video, Jason! Cheers, my man!
Thanks for this man. Everything by Mr Starrs and his crew are a favourite! It's not many bands the get invited to tour with black sabbath. I'm a total guitar numpty, but your lesson is patient and clear, so many thanks for making an old fuzzer very happy!
I think he's using a suped up tweed deluxe. There is a premier guitar article about his gear. It's the Neil young version of the tweed deluxe that uses 6L6s instead of 6V6s.
Starss uses a Speaker Cranker on his pedalboard by Earthquaker Devices, it is all analog. I wanted to grab one but it is discontinued. Surprisingly he uses Fender Tweeds. Melody Lane, Deaths Door, 13 Candles are my top 3.
I have a soft spot for "Mind Crawler". But "Poison Apple", "Murder Nights", Mt. Abraxas, and "Dead Eyes of London" are also great tunes. They do killer covers too, such as: "Wicked Annabella" (The Kinks), "Remember Tomorrow" (Iron Maiden), and "Get On Home" (Charles Manson/Manson Family). It's too hard to chose 😵
You are a very good teacher, patient, methodical and with good advice for learning the rhythm. I would love to see other lesson from you, any doom or stoner band would be great. Thanks a lot for this excellent lesson.
1:13 - I believe Kevin Starrs used a Basic Audio Spooky Tooth fuzz on this album. I know he was a big fan of this pedal around this time. I remember him posting one for sale on social media years ago and I still kick myself for not buying it haha. Love this band.
May the Fuzz Gods smile upon you. that might be MY fav. song. One day, I will own a Fuzzlord 45! I'll be watching for more lessons. I build my own pedals, but not into "production". Sorta like Fran Lab pedals. Built with love. One at a time. May the Fuzz be with us all!
Kevin from Uncle Acid is a big fan of the EQD Sound Shank. Which is basically a Tonebender/Buzzaround clone. Just sayin', a Fuzzlord spin on a Buzzaround would be awesome.
All kinds of yes! Uncle Acid is one of my favorite bands. My favorite song of theirs is a toss up between Waiting for Blood and Mind Crawler. That Woodrite is a beast of an ax man! Take care!
I agree with the tweed sound comments. At the very least something way more sputtering and broken sounding rather than just straight distorted. Still a great tone here. Thanks for this, you should totally do bloodlust start to finish, it's the album that got me into doom in general. Maybe patron? I'll cut you down is my favorite, such a strong opening.
Oh my good God!! Thank you so much for doing this. I've been looking for their stuff everywhere with no joy despite me being a Brit living in Britain. Id be mega impressed if you did 'Ill cut you down' next! Best wishes from Scotland
Jason, thank you! There are a lot of good teachers on here but you are the most thorough and detailed at a slow pace than anyone I've seen. I just started playing guitar this year and I've got this song down well because of you! Cheers brother!👌🤟
Cool, Fuzzlord lessons! If Steve's doing pedals you may as well do lessons! My favourite is definitely Over and Over, seen them supporting Sabbath in Belfast a few years ago, they were excellent.
Very nice lesson! I play some parts a bit differently though. I rely more on the 5th and 4th strings to allow the 6th to ring longer, and I also do the harmonised part using 3rd chords (with a looper pedal or with another guitar player, it sounds killer).
Tom from NC. I've been a HUGE Uncle acid fan since about 2012 when I discovered them. Nice tone and great job btw! 👌🏻 Have you dabbled with Bloodrunner?
"Over and Over Again" was my gateway to Uncle Acid. Thanks for the lessons, I know exactly what to do this weekend. BTW, is there a distributor for your effects in Germany/Europe? Import taxes are quite a lot these days.
