Very affordable. Daily vacation trips in the US are at least double that. The hotel will be at least $150/night when I travel.

My usual expenses for two weeks Okinawa from Germany are about 1500€. Plain ticket, accomodation, food, izakaya, presents and daily practice included. Usually I go around by bicycle (left one folding bike in Okinawa) or by bus. If you have a teacher in Okinawa, the usual fee for all your regular dojo lessons is what Okinawans pay for one months training, around 5,000 Yen. Private classes go extra though. At some dojo you don't need to pay for lessons as an official associate member. Some dojo also offer accomodation for their foreign members for a low fee. I try to cook and eat at the place where I stay, just sometimes restaurant. Also there are a lot of good bento options at supermarkets or convenience stores. So your expenses differ a lot if you come as a karate 'tourist' or as a student and member of an Okinawan organisation and dojo.

$50 isn’t that expensive for ala carte lessons. Usually deals come from package deals, i.e. monthly.

I have that exact same cat on the beach but bred with a Savanah so he's twice as big.That's a fishing cat and it's from a tropical jungle so I guess he's right at home on the beach.

This is very affordable. Plus since you don't do such a trip on short notice you can plan ahead and check out different prices and so on. It shows clearly that teaching bujutsu in okinawa is not primarily focused on making cash. It's been twenty years since I went to the Ryu Kyu Islands. It is about time to visit Okinawa again. Osu

Come on, It is around the same in Europe, as long as you don't book a 4-star hotel and a C-class Mercedes! Just the food felt a little bit overpriced. 27 bucks for dinner, that's VERY VERY expensive. The average in Europe would be about half that.

It was a little expensive for the several times I’ve gone to Okinawa, but only because of the plane tickets from the USA and of course several souvenirs. The actual food, lodging, etc., was very reasonable. But it was sooooo incredibly worth it. I wouldn’t have traded those trips for anything. It changed my karate.

Good you posted this video as i always wonder about prices. I think that if you stay longer time, the price per day will drop, ex. Like staying in a hostel or going to one dojo and paying a monthly fee instead of one day in different dojos because the price per day will always be more. But still, is very affordable.

My trip was 8 days, just under $900 plus air fair. Close to the same price. Not having a rental car is the main difference, because I was part of a large group and we had hotel buses and other group transport.

Not too expensive… The $55 a day for training would add up quick Especially if you plan on staying there for any extended period

Im sure that if you are going to stay longer they price per day will drop. Most likely you'll have to pay a monthly fee.

@@eduardoherrera4151 true. I would hope so. I’m actually surprised the daily fee is that high. Even in places like California underworld class instructors you can find much cheaper than that. Unless of course he’s talking private lessons. Then it’s a great deal.

@@methodtraining when i went to Okinawa, they didnt charge me a fee for a lesson, but i bought a Dojo t-shirt at least to help. There regular fee was 50 dollars a month. Also i took a couple of classes in mainland Japan (Fukuoka) the monthly fee was also 50 dollars a month but they didnt charge me because I was going to leave Japan and wasn't going to attend the whole month. I feel its better to plan a longer stay, attend one Dojo and pay the monthly fee.

it's only $2 for the museum ? woah !!! here it would be $20 or more.Here that room would start at $120 a night for something very cheap looking.I think it's time to stop saying I'm going to move to Japan and just do it in 2 years.

Great information! For us butter stinkers, we need to know about securing a visa (cost and procedure); Japanese driver's license (do they accept International on Okinawa?); getting Yen for US dollars (best place); and then there are some cultural questions. How are Americans in general greeted in Okinawa (US servicemen causing issues), and what are the language barriers I might encounter? How much does an interpreter cost, and is it worth it? Thanks in advance, !

This is fantastic! I mean, this is very afforable, and I will definitely try out something like this if I am ever in Okinawa. I live near the greater Los Angeles area, and a quick weekend vacation (1 night, 2 days) to San Diego would cost me at least $180 per day, and that is without renting a car, as I prefer to walk around San Diego anyhow.

@@KarateDojowaKu Unfortunately it is indeed an expensive city because a lot of conventions happen there such as auto shows, anime conventions, video game conventions, sports events, and other entertainment events, which causes the hotel prices to be very expensive and hard / in some months impossible to book. Tourism is a big source of income for San Diego.

In Japan they drive on the left, as at the beginning of the Meiji era imported cars were from England (unfortunately). So the fast lane is on the right, and the slow on the left
