In this video, I'll be doing an in-depth comparison on the Karcher Foam Spray Nozzle (foam gun) and an aftermarket foam cannon. I go through the foam thickness, durability, adaptability and price before giving my overall recommendation of which I think is the best option.

I've also made a video on the MJJC Foam Cannon Pro which in my opinion is a big upgrade from these two options. Here's the link ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-q8yZYkulFqE.html

Great video the most common reason for poor foam is lack of pressure and flow rate. Many cannons clearly say that they need over 5 litres of water per minute and 1100 PSI (76 bar) to run. I am glad to see you have a proper foam cannon 😀

In agreement with you again as saw this clip after watching the snow foam review. The spray bottles you get with a pressure washer are fine for spraying shampoo or even spray wax but not for snow foam as such. Snow foam lances have a metal duckbill type end to them which vibrates which is what creates the foaming effect, the ones like your Karcher one don’t. You did rightly say if working on a budget the standard one will work to a point. Nice MX-5 by the way 😎. Keep up the good work.
@AutoCareHQ

Thanks very much :) yeah the karcher ones are good to get started but it's well worth making the upgrade or starting with the aftermarket ones if there's room in the budget!

Great video. I will just say though the Karcher nozzle does actually turn, but all it does is change the foam spray from horizontal to vertical

Another good video, I'm slowing working through them all 😂 I've never used the Karcher one but do have a few of the PA type. I can highly recommend changing the orifice to the 1.1mm as this does have a noticeable effect on the foam thickness. I've only got a K2 at the moment so as this is a little low on PSI I'll take all the help I can get.

Thanks for watching! I’ve actually just got a new foam cannon and it comes with a 1.25mm and 1.1mm orifice and you’re definitely right! It looks like the car is covered with shaving foam when I use the 1.1mm 😂

I also have a few foam cannons including the karcher version which was relegated a long time ago but what i found with the karcher was the yellow plastic section inside kept coming undone which was so annoying. Good solid review as allways Heather.

Thorough review, I always find the after market ones better. The larger tops are good as you can easily pour the liquids in.
@AutoCareHQ
@AutoCareHQ 3 года назад
Thanks for watching 😊 I’ve seen the ones with wider tops I’ll probably invest in one soon because I’ve wasted plenty of snow foam trying to pour from a 5 litre bottle into the cannon 😂

I think most people have made the mistake of buying the Karcher one first as it’s available locally and then ended up getting a proper one. I think i got one about 15 years ago. To be fair though, the chemical will still do its job to a large extent, thick or thin foam. You can get foam lances on eBay or places like Ali Express for no money at all. I’ve had a cheap one for years and its still perfect. I do rinse it out after each use though. I’ve just ordered from Ali Express another lance with the new style wide mouth to the bottle for £15.12 delivered. It’s places such as Ali express that a lot of UK retailers source them anyway.
@AutoCareHQ
@AutoCareHQ 3 года назад
That sounds like a great deal. The wide mouth ones definitely look a better design, I'd probably end up saving money in wasted snow foam poured down the side of the bottle in the long run haha!

Good review. I think once you know what's available for foam application then the Karcher on looks quite expensive by comparison. £15 for almost no adjustability and poor foam would be money wasted in most people's opinion.
@AutoCareHQ
@AutoCareHQ 3 года назад
Yeah there’s not a huge amount of difference in price to get a better one tbh. I do remember when I was first getting into detailing and had about £25 to get a foam cannon and the foam and feeling quite limited though so had to go with the karcher one. There seems to be plenty of package deals available now though, just wish I’d have known at the time that Halfords wasn’t the only place that sold car care products 😂

Hi Heather, just bought and recieved both the Ezcare snow cannon and Bilthamber shampoo on your recommendation. I'm using a karcher K4 and had assumed the snow cannon needed to be used on a lower pressure but obviously there is no way of reducing this with the attachment fitted. Do you so simply use at max pressure? I found I needed quite a concentrated solution to get a clinging foam like that in your video. Should the foam be applied to a dry car to help it cling? Great video thanks in advance for further advise.
@AutoCareHQ
@AutoCareHQ 3 года назад
Thanks for your comment! Yep I usually use the pressure washer at max pressure and have the foam so it’s set to the thickest on the cannon. It could help if you apply it to a dry car but you should be able to get decent foam on a wet car as well to be honest. Which snow foam are you using?

Mtm hydro is the best made foam cannon around but you pay the price. I would always suggest spending as much as you can afford to get the best quality you can. Buy cheap buy twice. Products you'll end up trying different brands or going back and forth but a foam cannon once sorted wont need changing

@AutoCareHQ
@AutoCareHQ 3 года назад
Thanks! I’ve only tried 3 at the moment to be honest, my favourite is the MJJC one but it’s about £35. I think this EZ one is decent and have they have loads of sales so you might be able to pick it up for less than £20. It looks like they are all pretty similar between brands at around the £20-30 mark to be fair. I’d try and get something with a wide bottle rather than a tall one if you can, it makes life a lot easier!
