ODB: When I was a small kid in the mid 70s I read about Kareem's life and got to know him as a person through the book, not just as a baller. He is a great intellect, a wonderful person and a thoughtful leader. We need more like him. His autobiography "Giant Steps" is a great read.
i never knew he was such a nice guy. i wasnt born yet when he played so all i've seen are old clips showing how aggressive and hardnosed he was. its good to see this side of him off the court. thats the perfect kind of player anyway, one thats kind and intelligent off the court but wants to bust your teeth in once they're betwwen the lines
Then why are you showing disrespect towards him and his religion by calling him "Lew Alcindor"? That's not his name anymore and you should respect that.
why couldn't Mr. Abbel Jabber have written his own speech rather than read someone elses. He was, probably, the most intelligent basketball player ever.
@redwallace It takes some a life time to get where they belong, and Mr. Jabbar made in less time than most. I remember when he was considered radical and a threat to the establishment. He's still the same. It's the American society that has caught up to him.
