Unfortunately, the legendary Skyhook has prevented people from seeing Kareem's total game. He had every move. He was nimble, tall, perfect pace, great passer, and the best rim defender in the league. People forget all of that.
‘85 championship series Game 2 against the Lakers. His passing that day was awesome. This series showed that he was going to be in the NBA for at least another five years. 77 was his year but Bill Walton playoff performance overshadowed it as well as Julius Erving.
This playoff run by Kareem is some of the best basketball ever played. It’s a shame that people overlook his late 70s with the Lakers (in my opinion his best years) because the Lakers couldn’t really get a team around him to win a championship until Magic came
This is a great game for Kareem, without a doubt. But there are three other games in this series, that Kareem played, that you could also say was the "greatest ever." In fact, the next series against Portland he also had a couple additional games that could compete for that moniker. This year's version of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar , it could be argued, is where he was at the absolute peak of his powers.
It's a trip but KAJ was older than Parish but he was still faster & stronger than young Parish, no wonder Parish always says KAJ was his toughest cover
Greatest individual performance ever. Damn, I should have included that game into my GOAT series... Peak Kareem is simply unstoppable and dominant on both ends of the floor. Great upload, bro!
@@jackoleary505 I love Hakeem but please put some respect on Kareem's resume. Dude averaged 37+19+4 in WCSF in 1977...He is one of the Greatest Center, and perhaps one of the GOAT ever... Hakeem is on GOAT-tier and I am a Spurs fans, of course I know how he destroyed Dave in 1995. Both of them are very good, but don't just biased on Kareem's games. He was Great .
@@jackoleary505 That's fine, but it doesn't make Kareem's accomplshements any less impressive. Hakeem is a GOAT candidate at his best as well, but you don't need to pretend that Kareem was much worse.

The Lakers had the best team all year, despite critics, but Lucious Allen got injured and Kermit Washington was suspended for nearly killing Rudy Tomjanovich and that gave Portland its opportunity.
The Washington-Tomjanovich incident took place in the 1977-78 season. But Allen Was injured and Washington was unavailable. The Lakers won 3 close games against the Blazers before Washington went down. After that the Blazers won all 5 games. 1 in Regular Season and 4 in the playoff sweep. It was a clear difference maker. Portland though not only did they have their Hall of Fame big (Walton) and his enforcer (Lucas) they had a better line of guards too. It would be a difficult series either way but the Lakers fully healthy had a chance. Also, Kent Cook, the owner of the Lakers had the chance to take Dr J. but he didn't do it. He already got Wilt and Kareem to LA and they were big enough attractions. He told the management to not talk about players with the coaches because the coaches would always want more. The book "The Show" by Roland Lazenby has many great quotes and details about Lakers history until 2004.
I think this was his best performance in the 77 run, his overall defense was ridiculous this game, combined with his usually superb offense which gives it an edge over games 5 and 6 as well as game 2 of the Blazer's series.
Classic series! Way underrated! And if Kareem doesn't get a couuple of calls and fouls out in game 7, I'm still convinced the Warriors could have beaten the Blazers!
Jordan, Jabbar, Chamberlain, Magic Russell. these guys were the best the Nba ever had......Lebron is a joke!!!!!! These vids don't lie!!! Great Post!!!
@@jackoleary505 If you want to have open debate, then stop calling Bill Russell - one of the greatest ever - a roleplayer. Or stop cherrypicking or using double standards.
@@jackoleary505 What makes 1964 Celtics a superteam? Nobody except Sam Jones was even above average scorer in terms of efficiency, they also didn't have any good creator. As a result, Celtics were the worst offensive team in the league. They won because of the best defense ever, which collapsed without Russell.
@@jackoleary505 if you want to claim olajuwon is a top one or two center all time...ok or Shaq..ok ...but not to me ID take Kareem wilt and Russell first
