Last story: I have a customer card for a large grocery chain. I accumulate points with purchases which can be redeemed for assorted merch: "Get this item free for 1000 points". A lot of specials also depend on having a card, so two or three times now, a customer checking out ahead of me has asked if they might use my card to get "the card price" on several items. I say "Sure!" and the checker doesn't mind at all, but this is a two-way transaction: I collect a fat load of points; they get the discounts. For some rando to expect you to use your card on their behalf for nothing in return is *not* a transaction and takes a lot of gall on their part.

I moved next to a farm. 1 year later and I'm still trying to figure out what he does outside of getting big round piles of hay and driving it elsewhere. My dogs like it when he drives by with the hay, so they run up to the fence to say hi to him. the farmer got used to it I think cause I see him look at my yard when he drives by, then laughs when the dogs run up to say hi. he then waves hi to us, so we do the same back.
They should have also charged Karen with DUI, Reckless Endangerment etc since even she admitted she had been drinking right before she stole the tractor... That would have added a few years to her sentence, and probably make her have to redo her licence when she gets out.
I can relate to the elderly gent in the recliner story, we elderly are very often invisible to servers in stores and his comment about being acknowledged is valid. The lady taking care of one customer at the exclusion of doing so, while understandable from her point of view, could have been seen as a slight by the gent. A "be with you shortly", would have been nice.
If the sales person in the recliner store had at least acknowledged that the older gentleman was there and would be with him as soon as she was finished with the customer things would have gone much better.
I was kinda expecting the library story to include finding the rude patron's name and address in the notebook, and collecting subscription cards to send in with her info.
Ankle fusion: My father didn’t thing mental illness affected those with it because, “if you are crazy, you don’t know what is going on around you.” Well in 1985 he went through hell on Earth when he started dialysis, and for about 10-14 days was in full blown paranoia and had to be secured to the bed. My father distrusted doctors because one had willfully ignored (who has a college degree) what my father told him and my father almost died 4 hours later because of the insulin that the doctor prescribed. My father had been a diabetic for 10 years.
Feck the discount Karen. I've had a Walmart employee flag me down in the lot asking me to drive them to the McDonald's literally just across the main road from the Walmart lot. Said no to that as first you are a complete and total stranger to me,second reallllly insistent despite being told no and raising all sorts of red flags why I'm wanted to drive them when literally loading them up,getting through the lot and light at the exit and then crossing over the oncoming lanes would take much longer than continue walking another 100 feet to the road,cross a 4 lane road with center island and walk maybe another 200 feet to the Mickey D. Got all up in my face so hit the gas and went on to park away from this idiot. I did ask to speak with the manager that one of his employees harassed me for a ride on his lunch break taking almost as long to try and cajole a ride out of me as it would to have just continued walking.
You are totally wrong about the customer anytime another customer comes up it does not take a second to make eye contact and Nod your head that you'll be with him soon
