If you look at each dunk,Malone didn't jump exceptionally high(i dont think he has any alley opp dunks that i can remember),but at 6'9(with good hops especially when he has that running start) and built like a tank,he would just go through you
The acceleration displayed at the 0:56 mark in this video is superhuman. I saw the mailman play in his prime. He was a freak of nature much like Lebron but with a much tougher mindset. Malone was not out to beat you, he was out to destroy you. Notice that most of the victims in this video took a nice little prize to go along with those posters in the form of a knee to the chest.
I wouldn’t say less athletic. He did rock a 5 percent body fat percentage during his playing days. He only missed 10 games in his 19 year career. Lebron James as of this post has missed 71 games. Sure Malone never had the hops. But he was built like a middle linebacker/tight end. He actually did well with passing. He has over 5,000 assists. Which is a great number for power forwards. I will give this to James. He is probably the first player since Malone to take his training seriously. His hair might be gone. But the guy is still in great shape.
