The Cauvery river has been the lifeline of South India since ancient times. But this same river has caused a number of riots and developed feelings of mistrust between the states of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. The water of Cauvery is essential for the development of both the states and especially for their farmers. in past, before bangalore became a huge city, kaveri was mainly used for irrigation of crops on both states... but when bangalore and mysore grew they became heavily reliant on kaveri river... also the basin area of kaveri in karnataka is small, most of kavery in karnataka flows in forest and mountains except those cities, but when it enter tamilnadu,which is coastal plain.. it is used for irrigation... both states have to come to an agreement on this.. only diplomacy can solve this issue..

If a state doesn't work towards water collection and saving the river banks then supreme court should give them the direction for that as well so that there is enough water and no dispute.

It was built by and for Andhra pardesh. Telangana got rights because it was part of Andhra for a few years. If not the entire dam belongs to AP. Krishna water share is divided b/w AP Telangana and rayalasema in 33% share but Telangana people want 50% share which is not acceptable for AP. If they build polavaram they may allow Telangana to take more water but it will not become 50%

Because of riparian lands were low lying. TN needs water for the crops and that part of coorg basin didn't hold these lands and settlements. Later when Bengaluru grew massively, the water shortage was imminent and it's going to get Karnataka upset with water distribution

More land depends on kaveri in tamilnadu than Karnataka...so from the period of British itself the British government knew this and refused and now too they won't accept in building dam across kaveri it's impossible to stop water to tamilnadu ...almost Karnataka lost in this issue! The supreme court is firm in not allowing to built dam across kaveri!

According to your statement, you should then liberate Tulu speaking speaking indigenous communities in dakshina Kannada and Udupi and tribal areas of kodagu to become a autonomous state. Karnataka can go with Mysore state which was independent over the British era and which is the base of kannada culture and literature.

Karnataka receives rainfall in monsoon basically from June to August and now it's end of September and water is not collected in the dam. There are very very less chances of Karnataka getting rainfall. This is the reason why the princely state of Mysore Krishnaraja wodeyar built krs dam. Did any protest happen last year? No because sufficient amount of rainfall was received and dams were released. Now when there is no rainfall, why do the people of other States except Karnataka to release water? This is south india, Rivers are seasonal here, we know what water scarcity is. North India is blessed with water from Himalayas throughout the year. The state government is elected to look into the welfare of its own state, not the neighbouring state.

You being a neighbouring state is demanding water from Karnataka Asif Karnataka has hidden Kaveri water in underground tanks. Last year Karnataka released water. Why was it not stored in mittur dam? Invest on building dams. Increase the storage capacity of mittur dam. Even if Karnataka releases water, tamilnadu will use how much it needs and let the remaining into the sea. And again next year tamilnadu demands for water. Is there no word called water conservation in tamilnadu dictionary? Still how many years will tamilnadu depend on water released by Karnataka?

@@manjulads4544 brother please understand that TN also has farmers, infact more basin of cauvery lies in TN not in KA. The water sharing amount is being reconstituted every month as KA request due to shot fall of rain, no one asks same entitled water in the agreement, We also understand the situation but drastic reduction of water is injustice. In this month, we should get 24k CF but only get 5k CF. Please recognise people living in other states also humens. KA also play cheat games, river sharing ratio calculated based on the water availability in KRS dam. If the dam has 40%, the rest will be shared in TN quota after that KA can get remaining all its share irrespective of the level of rainfall. But KA govt constructed, check dam so that it can claim the water level below or around 40% in KRS dam, than ask for a cut in cauvery bourd. The problem is with KA, we never ask extra water but KA does.

This month is rainy season, only North district get witness very few rainfall(less than 10cm) which can't be saved and redirected to delta region. Always the intention of fighting is politically motivated to get votes. After Jayalalithas demise both side stop fight each other. So called kannada farmers raise cauvery issue only if BJP govt is in Power or else no dispute 🤣🤣

basava avare kannadakke adhyathe kodi. Coorg, Mysore, Mandya, Bangalore, Bangalore rural, Ramanagar, Chamrajnagar districts all depend on cauvery water. Your facts are wrong. There is enough open fields in these above districts waiting for water to irrigate. But the cauvery water authority has placed restrictions not to cultivate using cauvery water inorder to ensure there is no additional dependency. Overall if allowed Karnataka is in position to utilize every single drop of cauvery water.

Kaveri is called as life river of Karnataka then know how Karnataka depends on it. When about comes about Kaveri all North districts also come to fight with unity.

Well said ! Infact tn has 15 district and 17 union panchayat around kaveri infact depend only on it ! That's why they won ... always justice win!
