I was in my late 20s. I'd decided to see just how far I could make it on a pushbike, hugging local train lines as much as I could. This song and the album itself gave my adventure a life-defining memory as I ventured through 8ft high weeds and crossing creeks just to go. Go anywhere. I love you guys.
@@joshsmith159 to be exact i think it's a tremolo pedal.. not sure tho. it's deffinetly some kind of effect tho and i think its very well placed, adds a lot to the vibe :)
@@user-lw8pr8ll1k I think you might be right. Could get a similar effect with delay but sounds more like tremolo now that you mention it. Love it either way
just for a moment..justt for a second there when I saw Karnivool in my youtube feed I was like oh damn...a new single again so soon! but noooo :P beautiful song though this one..been my ringtone for a long time
I know there’s something wrong stop making it up We’re too proud to see we’ve lost more than our trust And now there’s nothing left, well’s dead and dried up Its disease has left a foul taste in our cup It just keeps on flowing And we drift on knowing It just keeps on flowing This babble from our mouth Who we are I fear most of the time Carry on shuffling in order and in line Who we are I fear most of the time Carry on whipping boy, stare into the light Stare into the light And it feels familiar for good reason I want us to break the case we’re in With one of the tools of this catatonic skin Remove all the parts I want us to face the shape we’re in A world of confusion awaits our sons and kin Lets reset it all Lets reset it all Well it stings and it hurts, is this how it’s meant to be Well it stings and it hurts, is this how it’s meant to be Well it stings and it hurts, a small price to pay to be In control and rebirth what our future’s meant to be Who we are I fear most of the time So carry on whipping boy, stare into the light I want us to face the shape we’re in A world of confusion awaits our sons and kin Let’s reset it all (we are, we are, we are) Let’s reset it all (we are, we are, we are) These words of wisdom come with lack of vision This is the first day I’ve ever had to stand and witness These words of wisdom come with lack of vision This is the first day I’ve ever had to stand and witness These words of wisdom come with lack of vision This is the first day I’ve ever had to stand and witness These words of wisdom come with lack of vision This is the first day I’ve ever had to stand and witness These words of wisdom come with lack of vision This is the first day I’ve ever had to stand and witness lyrictum.com/karnivool/we-are-2/
I can't get over how this song's time signature is like the .gif with the train moving through a tunnel and you can consciously decide to perceive it either as going into the tunnel or comming out of it... In the same manner you can consciously decide to perceive this song in either 6/8 or 4/4...
It's quite perfect, isn't it? It's like the sum of all instruments and sounds playing produces a rythm that is equally biased towards 6/8 or 4/4. This may be different for everyone though, some people may tend to hear the 4/4 more easily, and vice versa. I initially only perceived the song in 6/8. Then I heard the acoustic live version which has a more dominant 4/4 feel, and at that point realized that the original had the 4/4 pulse as well.
@@sjograas Absolutely...I even have a friend whom I've had a small argument with over this because he naturally perceived it in 4/4... They overlap the 2 rhythms so they're both present throughout the song but there is a definite change of feel after the bridge accenting the 4/4 more... What's impressive is the fact that the 4/4 groove is there throughout the entire song and only a slight change in the accented beats changes the feel of the song altogether...It's genius...
i'd say the difference between the acoustic version and this one is almost completely on the hi-hat - i can't hear it at all in this version even when trying to listen for it, but it's super prominent in the acoustic version, and it's on the 4/4 for most of the song. then the rest of the drums and guitars/bass for the most part are on 6/8, which is why (to me) this one feels much more 6/8 than 4/4, but the acoustic one is the other way around.
I've just come back to this video for the first time in a while. It's got me thinking about its meaning through a new lens. While I am not religious per se, I have spiritual beliefs. There are quite a few spiritual/religious references in Asymmetry song titles. For example, Aeons is (as I understand it) a Gnostic idea regarding the fixed passage of time associated with a star sign e.g. "the age of Aquarius" for which there is an associated spiritual deity. Alpha and Om presumably refers to Alpha and Omega which is a name for Christ and God in the bible. Eidolon is a spiritual vision of someone passed. On this basis, I'm wondering if this song is about the idea of Rapture, i.e. at some point the good people will be purged off this plane just leaving the bad and unenlightened to endure earth. The girls are dressed in white presumably as a symbol of good (and hence disappear at the end). The tv coverage represents the lies and fear perpetuated by the media. Ian's lyrics speak of our loss of humanity and connection to spirit and we basically await our rebirth (reset it all). It's actually a deeply prophetic song given what has occurred over the last few years (it being released 10 years ago).

I would like to thank tool for inspiring Karnivool to make great music Edit : I don't say they are copycat or anything I'm just saying tool influenced their way of making new sounds and I actually think their sound is much richer than tool's sound if we are talking about melody or harmony. The only thing tool Is number one at is rhythm but that's it karnivool surpassed them and everyone alse in every aspect This is me but I don't think anyone has come close to them because nowadays everyone is trying to be dream theater clone and don't have any creativity to come up with their own sounds If your still reading congratulations Here you go here is a new band worth listening to ( Thank you scientist )
Karnivools "We are" song and video predictions and observations. Not saying this is 100% legit but there are too many correlations to ignore. (note: the children in the clip might represent the 1% that pull the strings aka deepstate, hidden hand or the self proclaimed children of the sun) 0:16 "I know there's somethig wrong, stop making it up" sings with obelisk on the table - Obelisk is a monument to the Sun god Ra. Our Sun is changing, see Suspicious Observers to keep up to date on how it is, why it is and what it means for earth. It could also be a symbol used to direct the songs message to the "Children of the Sun". 0:50 girls put leaves over mouth on picture then buries the picture (symbolizing: silence or you will be buried) 1:00 Band members playing in house, isolated from outside and divided from eachother on their devices 1:16 Children outside prepare geographical connection symbol - This symbolizes the preparation of a connected single message/narrative across the globe. 1:28 child looking up knowing something isn't right, something is coming, before adults knew 1:33 their world has turned upside down as the children hold hands 1:46 Children discover dead diseased bird, touch and groom the wing then more birds fall - could represent the 1% grooming covid virus to later infect others. 1:56 The totaly oblivious father hears "the birds falling" - he hears about people dying of covid 1:59 Children run out of the way inside 2:16 "a world of confusion awaits our sons and kin, lets reset it all" - all the mixed messages, restrictions, division, sketchy vaccine science and propaganda is the world of confusion. The message "let's reset it all" is the official agenda called The Great Reset, initiated by the UNs World Economic Forum. 2:51 "well it stings and it hurts, is this how it's meant to be?" - The personal change and sacrifice required to overcome the measures of civil control is huge, will hurt and will leave you questioning if it's the right move. 3:07 Asteroid on the screen with a ? mark over it looks like a swan, with the question "why didn't we see it coming?". This symbolizes that when the 1% have sung their swansong, everyone will ask the question on the screen. The swansong is symbolic of the plan initiated to bring about the removal of all civil freedom, total control, total power to the 1%. Covid is the swansong playing out, make no mistake. 3:09 "a small price to pay to be, in control and rebirth, what our futures meant to be." - The message from the band reassuring us that it is necessary. 3:20 Father forces masks on children who refuse at first. Other then the masks being the obvious covid link here, note that the general population initiated mask wearing before it became official advice, later mandatory. Fear is driving the mask wearing, no science has specifically concluded masks are effective. 3:40 Gov advice on news and in bulletin "wear a tight fitting mask or respirator that covers entire face" & "Civilians are advised to stay indoors" - yep, that's covid 3:57 Daughter shows father geographical symbol, father in his state of fear ignores the facts in his hand - this is the level of fear induced ignorance we see towards facts today. 4:02 time starts at 03 : 20 : 00 - March 2020 UN officially declares Covid as a pandemic, prediction or a heads up? you decide. 4:07 "lets reset it all.... these words of wisdom come with lack of vision, this is the worst day I've ever had to stand and witness" - the words of wisdom Kenny is referring to is the "let's reset it all". The day you actually comprehend the gravity of The Great Reset agenda is indeed the worst day you witness. 5:32 News headlines Mass disappearance of thousands of people worldwide - thousands amongst billions of people worldwide sounds like the disappearance of the small number who were in control. If the asteroid is symbolizing the pandemic and they disappear after the people wake up to the plandemic, then that may suggest that they are in hiding, either above or below the earth... who knows. Maybe the father looking up answers that
