The Karoo is a huge semi-desert natural region of South Africa, partly defined by its topography, geology and climate, and above all, its low rainfall, arid air, cloudless skies, and extremes of heat and cold. So after leaving Tankwa Karoo National Park, I was eager to explore such a peculiar region, and I drove all the way to Karoo National Park, the second of the great parks that I would find on my way to the Eastern side of the Karoo. Overnight in the Karoo is pretty wild for there are no towns in hundreds of kilometers and the weather is quite extreme. The park has two different areas, the plains where it is possible to enjoy the company of many species of animals, and the mountains, from where breathtaking views are waiting for those who venture up the Mountain Pass. All in all, a very interesting park highly recommendable to those who want to know what the Karoo has to offer.
