I drive my go kart every weekend, and I can confirm that is exactly how you use the steering wheel.

Looks really cool. Althoug the driver might want to go to a hospital for a wrist check up his shit looks broken 😂

the hands seems glued to the wheel, and it looks like the wheel is moving the hands around, not the other way.

Obviously the wheels are just for show and the cart is propelled by the chain whipping against the ground.

The ‘GEEL’ track is an abbreviation of Geelong (pronounced G-long), which is a regional city in Australia. It’s my home city and is my local karting track where I compete at monthly. Pretty cool to see it in a game and see you driving on it! Keep up the good videos man

The deal with under/oversteering with different speeds could actually be exaggerated simulation of the lack of a rear differential. Karts can't turn well at all when all 4 tires are touching the track. They rely on the inside rear wheel lifting off the ground slightly when turning which is less likely to occur at slow speeds

4:16 The problem is not the wrist but the elbow. It does not change position so the wrist must compensate.

I was going to buy this game, but when I pulled fingers from my coat to grab the wallet out of my back pocket, my hands got cold.

Looks good on the graphics side but look at those arms/hands while making a turn... Looks awful!

Just a fun fact for the day the developer designed the software for driver training simulators here in Australia for years and then dipped his toes into racing simulators with this.

The thing kart games can never get to work is the physics of the Scandinavian flick/4 wheel drift. Also the kerbing physics are usually quite aggressive.

Soooo....will this eventually lead to you playing Mario Kart at some point?

I thought I could make an original comment about the arms being disturbing to watch.

@Super GT It's easy to see that they need to kick down the understeering down a notch in the physics. Oversteering and sliding is much more common. I wonder if it would be a good idea to have something on the HUD show how much you're sliding. The parts we adjusted most of the time was width, front and back. Tyre pressure. Gear wheel size. I wonder how crucial it will be to do that in this game. You can't really feel when you're doing it right or wrong other than looking at the times.

The third track I drive past often, Todd Road is very close to Melbourne CBD. Many V8 Supercar drivers get their race fix there.

I used to race at the geelong track, it's spot on. the curbs that murder your kart IRL do ingame too

The Geelong track in reality has been resurfaced and extended which makes for a much better experience.

The main reasons karts are so twitchy is because of the very short wheelbase, caster angle and also because they're just sooo freaking light.

Great video mate... looks like you did what I did and took the time to get your wheel and pedals dialed in. I've got similar times to you and drive it similar to you too. After a while you just get immersed in it, just chasing around trying to knock a tenth off here and there. One thing I did to compensate for the loose steering is I enabled the return spring in the wheel profiler and set it to 100%. Was a lot more Kart feel after that, especially at high speed as with stiffer wheel it's a lot less twitchy. Personally I'm loving this game so far, it's early access so will keep getting better and better.

I'm not sure but I have a feeling the developers are based in Melbourne (in Australia) as the two Aussie tracks are in/near Melbourne (the second track looks like the Geelong Karting Club track and the third track is the Melbourne International Karting Complex of the Go Kart Club of Victoria [GKCV]; they're about sixty kilometres apart.) It's also interesting to hear your feedback, knowing your extensive karting experience.

I dropped my phone watching this video because my arms and wrists broke from laughing.

For me I got 0% filtering but added 10% min force with 90% gain, feels quite allright imo, but I'm using 180° rotation though. Love this sim, cant wait for more content and especially VR! Great video Cheers

I've driven go-karts before ones that do 40mph and ones that do 80mph, and they really hurt your hands and wrists due to the amount of vibrations you get, it's a numbing sensation even when wearing some thick motorbike gloves, lets just say that if you were a woman you'd really enjoy racing the go-kart. But with that being said go-karts don't turn when you're accelerating, you really have to slow down to manage a turn, most go-karts don't have abs so you can lock the wheels and find yourself doing a 180 very fast depending on how agressive you are, and also sticking with the racing line and the camber of the track and shifting your body weight is important to help aid the turn and also to put more weight onto the inner tyres so that you can give the throttle a kick up the arse to put the rear end out and help you get round the more difficult corners. Go-karting is insanely fun but god damn do your wrists feel like you've got something worse than wankers cramp after a 30 minute session.

You said that it doesn't feel real :-S I was driving 15 years of Karting with many titles. And I have to say it's the first Karting game which looks REAL. I didn't try it, but the physics just look like in reality. I'm so excited about this game. It's a long way to release :(

Interesting game. The arm animations were driving me nuts though, far more than the drivetrain animation spinning the whole assembly around the large gear.

kart could use a low-RPM turbo. bring up those RPMs faster with the turbo to get into the engine's power band at higher RPM

Oh I remember watching a video on the first track a while ago

The wheel in a kart physically doesn't turn more than around 140 degrees from neutral to either side.. The times you use the most of your steering will usually when you in a situation that's not ideal. Like having to countersteer a lot for whatever reason or having to steer extra because you went way too deep into a corner. I don't think there will be a karting game with even close to realistic physics before we get VR and a simulator that impacts your body as well. It's simply too different from anything else in motorsport. When you know your kart it's easy to do precise movements. I'd say it's easier to thread a kart through a technical course than kicking a football because the kart literally feels like an extension of yourself. Actual mistakes doesn't happen more than once every 20 or 25 laps. You can go a whole day of hundreds of laps without any incidents.

Can you talk about the adjustments you might have made to the steering and throttle/brake inputs!??!?! To me it feels like the karts in the game are set up for massive understeer, brakes that either don't work at all or only lock, and the rear of the kart seems hyper sensitive to any inputs whether it's brakes or gas. I have a 125 shifter kart that I drive on a regular basis and it simply doesn't handle the way the kart in the game seems to be programmed.

Time for you to have another go at this one Super GT. Many updates, ffb strength is almost formidable now. Please don't stop at one review when this sim is in constant revision in its early access release...

I want to see them add oval tracks including asphalt and dirt with karts that are larger (If you guys know what I mean) with motors like Predator, Clone, Honda, Restrictor Plate Predators, and Outlaw motors (Basically heavily modified motors) along with different tires such as Red Maxxis EL's, Pink and Blue EL's, Yellow Vega's, Even Hoosier Tires. It'd be pretty neat, especially because I race stuff like I've listed
