YAMATO String Quartet
Dear All,
Thank you very much for your warm comments and encouragement. Most of the pieces for YAMATO String Quartet are arranged by Kazuaki Kondo, whose works we love! Every day we receive many messages from people all over the world who have watched our performances on websites such as RU-vid. Sorry for not being able to reply to all of your messages.
Most of the messages ask us to let you play, buy or photocopy the arrangements. We'd like to respond to those requests. Currently, there is no way to completely protect the copyright of sheet music, regardless of the mode of publication. In order to play the pieces, a hard copy is necessary. However, it's difficult for the publishers to secure revenue once the sheet is published, as it’s impossible to limit the number of photocopies made.
We pay copyright fees to protect composers' rights. And we believe arrangements by Mr. Kondo are worth as much as the creative works of composers. However, copyrights for arrangements are not recognized worldwide.
Even if we publish Mr. Kondo's works so that he can get a share of the revenue from sales, the copyright fees will go to the original composer when those pieces are played publicly. So instead, we compensate Mr. Kondo for his pieces out of the money raised from our stage performances. He then puts this payment towards his next arrangements, which in turn generate interest in our next performance. We’re concerned that this cycle will be broken if copies of his pieces escape onto the market.
We are happy that so many people love Mr. Kondo’s work, and want to continue performing his arrangements for you all to enjoy, so if you have any good ideas on how to solve this problem, please send us an email.
We receive requests such as "We'd like to let children play the piece" or "We'd play the piece only at a particular event". Although we’d like to make exceptions, we’re afraid we can’t, as doing so could result in unauthorized copies becoming available.
Thank you very much for your understanding.
May music bring happiness to all of you who cherish it.
Best regards,
Hiroaki Sakata

@@andreavedovati2198 The lyrics were written by Plant in 1973 immediately after Led Zeppelin's 1973 US tour. Although named after Kashmir, a region of the northern Indian subcontinent, none of the group members had visited the area. Instead, Plant was inspired during a drive through a desolate desert area of southern Morocco. (At least that is what Wikipedia Says :)

The best of modern music has to stand one ultimate test. It’s not the sales or the popularity of the performance. Its will it take the transition to a classical score. Prodigy, Led Zeppelin, Yes, Black Sabbath, and Steely Dan and Weather report. All pass this test. Sadly the majority of “classical score on most modern band and performers do not. This is an excellent example. Amazing. .

I became aware of Led Zeppelin in, probably, 1970 and was a confirmed fan by 1972, by 1977 they were almost a deity to me. In the 2000's I learned of their breathtakingly audacious plagiarism, of the ageing American blues artists living out their lives in obscurity and grinding poverty while Led Zeppelin played their music, their songs, as they toured the world in their own airliner, playing to sold out stadiums. You are, of course, right when you describe this - and others in the Led Zeppelin repertoire - as a masterpiece, I wonder if we'll ever really know just whose masterpiece.

What a beautiful circle. Rock musicians take classical and make it into rock, and then classical musicians return the favor and take rock and make it even more beautiful without ruining it. Music is a wonderful thing.

Blows that idiotic disgrace of a cover that Escala on "America's got talent" out of the water. This is not a difficult song to play but to play it with such precession and grace requires musical mastery of the strings. By far the best live version Kashmir i have heard. Just beautiful.

This is a phenomenal arrangement, both in its own right, and in respect to the original. Given *how* true it is to the original, it's staggering to be reminded how deeply complex the original was. Outstanding performance given by the YAMATO String Quartet, who very much do the arrangement justice, and then some.
