He had threat from within his own party, Selfish crooked Arjun Singh, opportunist Scinda sr, Silent sonia( he was never her puppet like MMS) in spite of all this he achieved so many things. His enemies within the party cooked up cases like JMM bribery (smiliar to what MMS did, but it is Ok since it had Sonia's blessing) and in many other cases to weaken him personally, he was exonerated in every case. Take away Bharat Ratna from Rajiv (who justified killing of Sikhs in 1984) and give it to PVN.

@Pandey Ranjay What reform did Congress not support?? Demonitisation?? Congress supported the GST despite all the problems it had. CAA,370, Pakistan, Triple Talaq are all useless, time pass bills that this government is passing and have no impact at all on the development(if anything, these things pull the country down) of the country. They never even tried introduce any economic reform other than Demonitisation and GST. They didn't consult literally anyone before implementing Demonitisation and look how disastrous that has been (although I am pretty sure Congress would have agreed to it if they were consulted beforehand), they took everyone's(incl. Congress's) approval before implementing GST and that's also proven disastrous. After GST failed,this government got a reality check that they are totally incompetent in development and growth and went on full fledged "religious division" mode and passed these useless bills. They haven't even tried to improve the economy. They are just keeping on cutting corporate taxes, hoping that corporate growth would recover the economy insted of focusing on reviving micro economy. I don't give a fuck about Hindu-Muslim, Mandir-Masjid, Kashmir,370, Pakistan, Gandhis or Modi. Neither do I care about Congress, BJP or any other party.I only care about the economic growth and development of the country which PVN did, Vajpayee did and UPA-1 under MMS did. MMS in UPA-2 failed to do so and now Modi has further destroyed the economy. Both Congress and BJP have the same atitude towards economy. I really hoped in 2014 that Modi would focus more on the development of the country like Vajpayee did but he didn't.

Less than 4%.Hence ease of doing business is increasing but the survival of those business is what's required. Did you not hear the recent comments by Piyush Goyal on Amazon?? Even a company like Amazon is struggling to find it's way through this government's policies. And Arvind Kejriwal is utilising the public taxes in the best possible way tbh. Yeah his policies are a bit too populistic but despite that Delhi is a state that has the annual fiscal deficit in the positive. Compare that to UP which had collecteded 7times more taxes than Delhi but has the fiscal deficit in the negetive. Where did all the taxpayers money go in UP??? Why could AK with all his populist measures save money and Ajay Bisht with very negligible public spending lost money??

Indira gandhi, rajiv and modi in my opinion were and are the other poor governments. Indira gandhi to her credit though actually had the balls to stand up to the mighty U.S. and was successful in creating Bangladesh. P.v. narasimha rao, mms(upa-1) and vajpayee were good. I also actually rate nehru very highly considering the enormous task he dealt with. The fact that he was able to deliver political and structural stability to the new modern state of India to a large extent was in itself was truly an impressive achievement. considering the times he lived in.

Bjp koi doodh ka dhula nahi tha. Every political party (congress or bjp) would try to be in a position of power. There was no single 'conspirator'. Infact there was no conspiracy. The indian parliament at that point in time simply didn't care. It was a collective failure of the Indian polity. Vp singh government was also supported by the Left. Left and right(bjp) together were in support of that stupid, incompetent government.
