Big up Kashtin from Constantine, Algeria .
I grew up close to where Kashtin come from and am part Innu but unfortunately do not speak the language but listenimg to their songs gives me goose bumps and makes me want to learn the language
We don't even have to understand the lyrics to love these guys...They are truly a wonderful group...Purely Canadian and Anishinabe... Ki-chi meegwetch for your awesome music
Love their music. Don't understand their lyrics but it don't mater. Great musicians! Such an underrated band in Canada. Would love to see Claude & Flourent reunite and see their catalogue on modern streaming services. Love all of their albums. So does my entire family.
Great memories of seeing Kashtin at the Festival d'Été in Québec in 1992. Stood at the top of the stairs at Place d'Youville in the rain. Tipatshimun is such an infectious song. 👍
I'm not Donna Ham....I'm her boyfriend from next door. We've been married since Nov. 1971 and I'll still be loving Kashtin music almost as much as I love her for just as long from now and forever............don't understand a word but the music and the beat stay in my head a long time after it stops! Thank you Claude and Florent, thank you
when peaple secumbe to the outward they forget about being.when we become willing ,the directions of north, south east and west, skyward and earthbound are nurchard ,we still have to travel the seventh most sacred direction of inward.as addicts we walk frgmented paths,i give claude a big hurrah for sharing his innermost in his music,
Such excellent music by Hashtin. But i never heard much of them after oka, they just seemed to fade away, but i finally came across thier music agian and will keep on listening to thier sound.
part of our heritage ,the best I say thank you for your music !! Will always love you.I know maliotenam lived nearby and met many of you .Miss the ocean soo much and the freedom of wide open spaces.Beautiful people don't change .
One possible reason why they didn't go on: Claude McKenzie had a big drinking problem. Our governments shit in their pants when it comes to dealing with the Mohawks or the Cris for instance. However, they couldn't care less about the Innu and Algonquin nations, among others. I salute what the great songwriter Richard Desjardins is doing because he's one of the only few who really cares about the Natives.

Innu (also known as Montagnais) from the Lower North Shore of Quebec. It's an Algonkian language related to Cree. I think they come from Maliotenam (near Sept-Iles)
