Katana making. After a year again visiting friends Vasily Ivanov and Maryana Yakovleva. This time I also came with my wife Zuzana, whom Vasily taught polishing techniques. Maryana showed me many details in making koshirae. She's really good. I and Vasily were engaged in the technique of making steel using the oroshigane method. We built a new furnace and performed several smelting processes. I then forged a short Ichimonji-style katana from the first bush produced. Tempering without the use of clay created a beautiful choji hamon in an authentic Ichimonji style with utsuri.
Then we devoted ourselves to the production of several tanto blades in different styles, Masamune, Ichimonji, Kyomaro, focusing on differences in steel composition and tempering. That, together with sightseeing tours and other entertainment in the next videos.

I didn't study in Japanese. I regularly go to Japan to study old swords. I taught myself the technique of forging and steel production. By studying books and videos and then practicing. I am mainly interested in the metallurgy of koto blades. I have friends in Japan who help me with my studies. But none are katana kaji.

Ichimonji choji has its specifics. It is the natural reaction of steel. The steel must be prepared in the right way. A tempering technique without the use of clay, at which the highest temperature on the edge is then produced by choji hamon.

Self-study is hard. But it has its advantages. The Japanese teaching style is very binding. The questions of "why" are not usual. It is also not usual to do things differently from what is presented. Curiosity, searching for alternative procedures, searching for answers even outside the presented and generally accepted line proved to be important.

единственное, что понравилось в видосе - пруд с рыбками, все остальное лютый примитив...

Все в порядке. Никто не заставляет вас это смотреть. Посмотрите что-нибудь более продвинутое.
