This kind of music is called Min'yō, its a type of traditional japanese folksinging. I've never looked into it before but I remember learning about this genre's name through another youtube comment.
Listening through this whole song always gives me major chills and reminds me of the intense journey taken watching Katanagatari, which I recommend anyone else to do so as well. However by that point, you'll have been torn to pieces.
Broke me... this... prodigy of an anime completely broke when i finished it... I was scared of watching any other anime in case it had an ending as good as this one did.
I can absolutely relate. How did you like the after credits scene? People kinda hate it I've heard. I personally think it does work, but...Meh. I'm kinda indecisive.
Lucas Zero Oh hey, this is from a week ago. But I just finished watching, so I have a little problem with this. Without giving anything away because these are RU-vid comments and NO ONE EXPECTS SPOILERS: I'd posit that it's neither. After all, you can be followed without leading.
When this ost played, it always gave me chills and got me pumped. Every inch of me knew that someone was going to die, after giving his all in a fight.
I read bakemonogatari recently and in the appendix of that book, nisioishin said he just wanted to tell stories filled with dumb obscure whimsical back and forth dialogue. Like the exchanges between agaragi and mayoi. And senjogahara. And even after a couple episodes into katangatari just when they're on the island with togame, shichika and his sister I'm so glad to find that this series is the same. The dialogue is always so fun and intriguing I can never get enough of it.
Wonderful anime with an absolutely amazing soundtrack. I adore this show and its utter perfection. Nisio Isin is an absolutely amazing author, he deserves more praise for coming up with these incredible stories. Also, we should praise the studios who created his works as well. I'm not sure who did Katanagatari, but we should thank SHAFT for Bakemonogatari.
+Sean Becraft Nisio Isin made Katanagatari too ;-) Even if shaft didn't animated it for once. Still, I really like the show made from this... multiple people directed the different episodes, and you can notice it in their design actually. But that's part of the charm ! That's why it's unforgettable.
Sean Becraft Why should they? Attack on Titan and Usagi Drop look nothing alike but they're both by Production IG. Studios are about producing works for their creative team, not making as many similar looking shows as possible (except for Shaft, apparently).
I avoid listening to this, as it`s one of the few pieces that can bring me to tears and send me chills. Not for the Togame part , but for the very shooting scene, for the initial scene, for the ending. This brings up all the series meant for me. Just how powerful this was.
I always give anime with "different" drawing styles and character designs a chance because chances are a lot about is "different". And more often than not after watching a few episodes I can replace the word different with creative.
Only at episode 4 (havent seen it yet, keeping it up for tomorrow) and I did get sentimental in episode 2 & 3 already with its themes. So Im looking ahead of what is coming up next for me!
I started to see anime at 6 years ago, and recently i felt that i lost the emotion of seeing a worthy anime to cry, or to love, then i discovered katanagatari, god damn i fell in love again, i had forgot the felling of loving a anime, the felling of conecting with the characters, an anime that you couldn't predict what was going to happen. In all this was years, these anime one of the only who make me love anime again, now i am back to that felling of emptynes because i ended such a good anime. Wow im really stuned with this, the history its magical, the relationship between the characters are magical, today, all we see is isekais and sh*ts like that, it feels so good, to see a anime like this. This is for far one of my favorites in 6 years of anime, i promise that
Same here. I've been watching anime for around 6 years and it has come to a point where finding a new anime that is unique and good is hard, so now I'm mostly stuck to watching seasonal anime. But after finishing Katanagatari recently, it brought me that feeling from my very first experiences with anime, and it felt amazing. This song is special to me because it always reminds me of this feeling, besides being indescribably epic.
Good luck! I'm thinking of rewatching cause there was just so much there to digest and think about, but I have a few other animes I'm in the middle of. Plus I'm not sure I'm ready to put myself through the glorious Maniwa Corps getting wiped out again.
I've never watched this anime before. But the song sounds and feels like death. Heavy immense death. Not the good kind where the protagonist wins and triumphs over the enemy. Even if that happens, it still reeks of death. Someone precious is destined to die when this song plays. I'd honestly stop watching if I heard a song like this start up. If I had to guess, one of these two die.
What a music to start the show. I saw the graphics of this anime cover, and didn't have much expectation going in. Then right from the beginning, BAAM. This music hits. I was completely hooked at that point... and boy how much I enjoyed this show :)
Is there another version of this song without the vocals? I've been searching for 2:34 for a while but in the scene where Nanami is telling Chocho about how meaningless stances are there are no vocals.
The only reason I started listening to the playlist was for this. It was great to find the other pieces and remember just how fantastic they are. But this one... I got goosebumps when I realised this was the one and when I heard the voices.
This anime is literally the best anime ever created like actually literally I've been struggling to find an anime that's good after finishing Katanagatari
I may think that way when I'm done, I'm at episode 9, it's just amazing, one of the few that I can say is not only earning a perfect 10, but I may rewatch this :'D
Trying to find a new anime to watch after finishing something this damn good is pretty hard. Epic is indeed the word for it. The last episode was ridiculous.
because of DEMO and his brilliant editing skills I totally thought this was the soundtrack to Ghost in the Shell........ was very suprised finding out it was from this
OH GOSH I HEAR YOU. The whole ending made me so mad, everything right after what happened to Pengin, really, but him letting her tag along after him (heck, even letting her LIVE) was the worst. ;___; Darn anime giving me all these feels and stabbing me right in the heart!
@rbred378 Thanks for the info...I didn't know of Min-You when I first heard it on the GITS OST but I knew I liked it! A couple of years back, I went and saw my favorite DJ live (Deadmau5) and he used one the Min-You songs from GITS in one of his mixes...it was nothing short of EPIC!
@MalvaPura And yes, I finally found that the exact same group of singers who did the Ghost in the Shell pieces are singing this. They are amazing indeed...
