agree. she was as skater, "whole package", meaning she has everything you could hope, but she was also so much more. today - Katarina - is still same. one thing - i remember her always from that - is especially her smile, irresistable.

There are no cold hard facts when it comes to that place where athleticism meets artistic interpretation. I personally do not believe that the number of championships--in any competitive endeavor, are the actual measure of who reached the pinnacle. That certainly is ONE important measure, but it simply cannot define the complexities and subtleties of ANY form of art. I am in complete agreement that these incredibly talented women were and remain the Best Ever! @phantagirlable

@@Ask_a_Martyr uhm no - Tonya was amazingly athletic. She didn’t have a fraction of the artistry Katharina had. Also Katharina was absolute world class for many years. Tonya never played in that league.

Excactly, thats what she still does. So much condescension, so much ignorance and hate in the west, the year before they had thrown bottles on our Ice hockey players in Munich. And lo what grace and what a smile. I remember having been on winter vacation with my parents that year and watching her - wonderful childhood in the GDR!!!!! ;)

I do remember Debi Thomas. She was a fantastic skater that thrilled the world! Sad to think she is living a much different life now.
