From Sabaton to Katatonia? Well, congratulations, you have upgraded from one of the best Power Metal bands to one of the best Metal bands period. I don't believe in musical perfection but Katatonia comes very near to that.
I love this band....I first heard their album Viva Emptiness and I was underwhelmed. But it turns out i just didn't get what Katatonia was. I put the album down after a few listens only really remembering Burn The Remembrance (ironically) and The Criminal. Then years later i came across The Great Cold Distance that this song is off of and holy shit, something clicked. I understood that Katatonia wasn't your typical melodic death band. Then Night is The New Day....Dead End Kings, Uncrowned and Dethroned and The Fall of Hearts all became part of the "Katatonia journey". Each one diving me further into obsession. I've gone back to their earlier doom/black metal esque stuff and it never really piqued my interest like Viva Emptiness on did, but to each their own. Either way, Katatonia is by no means my favorite band, but they are one band that I can always put a song on and am in the mood to listen to. Great pick and great reaction guys!
thank you for covering this band again ! Katatonia are just great - oh and i wonder if in 2 years Antonio will have a deep voice like darth vader because with each video i watch his voice seems lower and lower
Thanks guys for using my recomendation :) I love Katatonia and i think they are like In Flames: there is new Katatonia with lighter songs like My Twin, and old Katatonia, where Jonas (lead singer) growls. Try someday songs from "Brave Murder Day", it's more black metal-ish with scandinavian melodic death metal vibe
React to Without God or Tomb of Insomnia from their first album Dance of December Souls please :3 (old Katatonia should never be forgotten and needs more exposure!)
Please React to: Katatonia - Brave (1996) It's of their 2nd Album (Brave Murder Day). It has Mikael Akerfeldt (Opeth) on Vocals. Katatonia's Early Black/Doom Metal era.
Katatonia is one of the greatest! One of my ultimate favorite! Check song Brave from the Brave murder day album guys! When Katatonia recorded Brave murder day, they invented totally new heavymetal genre:D Btw on that record, Mikael Åkerfeld take care of the growl vocals and the singer of this song (Jonas Renkse) is playing drums.
@@weemaniac2256 Well, maybe I was too excited when I wrote that but they created really own kind of style to play metal. And here in Finland we usually say that it's kind of own "genre":) There is not that much of similar bands that BMD time Katatonia. Simple drumming and really melancholic atmosphere with really deep growls. FInnish band called Rapture is one of the greatest follower of that kind of music:) Good music and I really love it, that is at least the fact:D
@@threeminutemiseryinc. Ahh i see what you're saying :) makes sense and i 100% agree that they have their own style, maybe "My Dying Bride" kinda comes close aswell? Have not listened to "Rapture" but will definitely check them out now.
@@weemaniac2256 Heh:) Nice that we are on the same page:) Yeah, My Dying Bride is kinda same:) Check this song first ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PRKoXPAc2qQ.html , so you know what I mean:D
And IF you got time, check this aswell ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6eyqAUMTqIs.html :D It's one of mine bands, lots of My Dying Bride influences, especially album light at the end of the world and some vibes from my friends band Swallow the sun:) Enjoy and have a great autumn!
Check out I am nothing or tonights decision from the tonights decision album. Or even back to the death metal days with murder (opeths mikael akerfeldt on vocals) .
React to Continoom. It's an underground, but very unique band. It's worth a review. Or review the Wardrum. It's the previous band of Yannis Papadopoulus.
Encouraging u to check out Vorna's new album 'Sateet palata saavat'. Try the official vids like 'Sateet' and 'Maa martona makaa'. It's beautiful shite, man. Ty.
Decent song, but feels like something is missing from it. I remember checking them out in particular with the album Night Is The New Day which took my interest, but never really won me over. Haven't really seen their name thrown around much since then though. Scar Symmetry - Holographic Universe
