I'd never abandon my kids over a lost relationship with the other parent. It's called being an adult and putting your kids first always.

My mom left me when I was a baby and I ended being raised by my grandmother and my step-mom the love I have for them is undying, people don't understand it but all I can say is a child will go where they feel loved and cared for.

The “shut up already” tells me everything I need to know about this guy. Instead of acknowledging their pain, even in the midst of his own, they’re the children. How cruel of him!

My son has not seen his father for 11 years.The man has made no effort to see his son for 11 years !!! No wonder my son dont have any use whatsoever for him . My son is 20 year now

I was raised by a narcissist, and this is so familiar to me. He cares because they dragged him. It’s unfortunate that her real father figure came from infidelity, since her bio dad will always victimize himself for that. Cheating isn’t okay, and I can never support it. Regardless, I’m still glad she ended up with a great father figure who was there for her. This whole thing saddens me. Their family’s trauma was never my business, and I wish they didn’t bother interviewing him.

Noone in the comment section is addressing the issue that this man was cheated on. Imagine the pain he was going through. No matter how mad I am, I would never drag my dad on social media. I would deal with the matter privately.

As a divorced Mom with 2 teenage boys I am all too familiar with this type if situation. As my teenage boys get older and older they understand how little time their Father makes for them, how emotionally distant he is, and how well he treats his 3rd wife and their sister. It makes me so sad when they say at 18 I wont have to go to Dads 2 weeks a year for Dad to look the part of our Dad to his coworkers, wife, and friends on Facebook.

Self-involved deadbeat loser who doesn’t care to bare the lifetime of consequences he caused to happen to himself. No one else is to blame for his actions!! Victims of parental abandonment should never have to be held responsible for their deadbeat parent's feelings... this guy is really something else, man. Victims should never stop being validated in whatever way they need in order to feel comfortable grieving and expressing their pain and anger for being abandoned, for as long as they need it - which usually lasts entire lifetime.

This is really hard...as a child growing up without a father present. I can relate to the pain and feeling of abadonement of Kate and her brother.

I fought and went broke 3 seperate times to insure I'd be the only father in my daughter's life, Mr. Hudson. Today she is raised by me only and is in a much better place than she was with her mother. Accountability is everything and with their reach, they wanted to not only send a message to you, but to praise the man that stepped up when you didn't fight. I do not pity you. I think you should fight until your last breath to fix that. It's telling when you told them to take the Russell name....cop out. Moral of the story. Never pick yourself over your children. It will leave your hurt a lifetime, sir.

Sounds like parental alienation happened to me.

I've been around since Goldie & Bill Hudson were married and she is the one who did this. She had control over the children. If she wanted them to have a relationship with their father, they would have had it. It's called parental alienation and as much as I love her, she created this situation.

So sad.... I never knew my dad.....met my mom when I was 45.....it leaves a permanent scar.....

When you see no fault in all the wrong you did. If the father was in the picture like a father should be, there wouldn't be any room for another dad.

I know how the father feels. My mom has been going through the same thing with my half sisters, their dad kept them from my mom and then turned around and taught them that my mom abandoned them which couldn't be further from the truth, she fought hard as he'll for them and it made her go crazy. My half sisters never have cared to get the real truth, now they bully my mom, me and my brother because they hate that my mom had us when we never asked to be born. They don't get away with bullying us but they still try. I think its important to get the facts before going off on people, too much damage happens otherwise.

This is sad! Kate and her brother obviously were brought up in home filled with love and a good man like Kirk! What happened with their biological father should remain private! You can see he's in pain! Why us humans inflict unnecessary pain in each other is beyond me! Make amends while you still can, life gives us no guarantees, we're only here for a short time. As parents ( Kate and Oliver) I do hope they never make any mistakes and don't have to face the same judgment that their father has seemed to have lived with!

Yes, I agree. Goldie slept around ... and blamed her husband, Bill. She never looked back, but Bill was extremely pained at the loss of his children. The children's response to all the lies they have been told? they love Kurt ... who has been unfaithful many times over!

I could totally see this going another way. Their parents divorced, Goldie and Kurt were movie stars making tons of money. The father was in that music trio, but I'm sure he was living an average life within his means. Which house would you choose to live in? The dad who has a regular house, regular job, regular car, or.... Mansions, trips, buy anything you want, do whatever you want. We all know we would pick to stay with Goldie and Kurt. And I'm sure they probably didn't make it easy for him to see them as kids, especially with all the traveling, moving, working on movies, etc. But hey what do I know?

My son's were abandoned by their father through no fault of their own. If he had wanted a relationship with his children, he just needed to stand up and show some initiative. Don't blame those kids(now parents themselves) for being hurt by HIS lack of interest in their lives. And, thank God, that they had such a great man step up and give them what their own father neglected to do. Thank you Kirk. I love Goldie Hawn , but I do feel that when you have children and you divorce , as parents , you have an obligation to not badmouth each other infront of the kids. This hostility is so toxic it's not good for anyone , least of all innocent children.. come on Goldie and Bill !! Get it together , and get this beautiful extended family back together !!!

Not everything is as it seems, she should get both sides of the story and let him explain and then let it go if she truly doesn't want a relationship with him. Putting stuff on social media about how he was a bad father, what a waste of time. Obviously, it still hurts.. I raised my daughter up until the age of 16. She started doing horrible things. I can't even imagine what she put me through and then she left to go live with her father who abandoned us when he decided to be in a different relationship in a different state... pretty much told me that it was my fault that he was leaving yet. I was the one doing everything paying most of the bills. so not everything is as it seems my daughter's father refused to sign the birth certificate and now he tells her that I would not let him sign the birth certificate when clearly he knew that if he signed the Birth Certificate he would have to pay child support immediately..not everything is like people tell you. that's why it's important to hear both sides of the story.

We don’t know how the divorce really went, considering Goldie Hawn cheated on the bio dad with Russell. I don’t hear this guy trashing Goldie Hawn even after all of these years. I don’t blame him. Poor guy. What a horrible way to treat someone who was shut out!! The house employees told the truth about what happened. What happened to him was an epic injustice. I stopped supporting Goldie and Kate years ago.

I held a grudge for the longest time over my dads head for amanding my brothers and I when we were kids. He married my step mom,she already had kids. My dad “wanted “ us to go live with our mom or so I thought. Now I’m older I wanted to learn the truth so I asked my aunt what really happened. She said my dad saw me crying every time after I got off the phone talking to my mom and he asked us who would you rather live with your mom or your stepmother and me. And I chose my mom because my older brother wanted to move so I did I didn’t have any memory of my mom when I was a kid. The only memory I had which was fuzzy at the time was she and I would rollerskate to I will always love you by Whitney Houston. That song always makes me cry even to this day. But I didn’t wanna hold a grudge with my dad so I actually talked to him and he talked to me and now I talk to him every so often over the phone and I’m so happy I did. Life is short no matter what happened in the past that in the past.
