A few people keep spreading gossip. Here are some facts for a change: Kate Jackson was NOT fired. She had signed a seven-year contract with Spelling-Goldberg to do The Rookies. She was committed to do another series with them if The Rookies got canceled before then, which it did. That's why she was Angel No. 1 and co-created the show (but was never credited for it...). She did four seasons of The Rookies and three of Charlie's Angels. So she honored her contract. But after Spelling/Goldberg wouldn't let her do "Kramer vs. Kramer" Kate wanted out. She finished season 3 but she was certainly not going to come back for season 4 after they had done her dirty. Leonard Goldberg said they tried to talk her into staying but she wanted to leave which she did eventually. Aaron Spelling is on record saying "hell what next!". Because he knew no one could replace the amazing Kate Jackson. It wasn't Shelley's fault. Kate's shoes were impossible to fill. For anyone! Cheryl was a diva on the Charlie's Angels set who teamed up with writer Lakso. Kate wanted better scripts and since the men in charge refused to do that she kept insisting (she was right) so she got labeled “difficult”. Cheryl was NOT nice to the “little” people on the set. She ordered them around. Something Kate would never do. This is info from people who worked on Charlie's Angels.
You are completely wrong, Kate had a contract for the full 5 years of CA. She was a bully towards Cheryl that is why David Doyle took Cheryl under his wing, Kate was demanding and was fired because of making CA a toxic set, Cheryl was 100% innocent
@Kandik River You are 100% correct! Kate worked 4 years on 'The Rookies' and 3 years on 'Charlie's Angels'. Let's see: 4 + 3 = 7. It's easy. Aaron Spelling was eager to sign Kate Jackson up for 7 years because he knew she was a terrific actress, she was gorgeous and she had charisma. 7 years was absolutely the maximum length of a contract per California law back then! So: Kate's contract was up and she left the show and there was nothing they could do about it. Man were they desperate LOL! Understandable! Charlie's Angels bombed big time after Kate left!

When asked how it was to work with Cheryl, Kate said, "Fine, you just have to allow extra time to remove the knife from your back" (paraphrase).

oh yes, indeed kate jackson some how looked italian, spanish, am. indian she was exotic looking high cheek-bones, tan & very pretty 1 of the most beautiful women back in the 1970's & 80's she will always be my favorite angel/actress of all times i love & miss her on tv.

i guess as the series progressed, the actresses' personalities infused their characters... so sabrina became more street-smart and spunky while kelly became more the princess-type... funny because kate was really originally supposed to play kelly!
Yes, Kate was originally supposed to play Kelly, but at the last moment she changed her mind and took the role of Sabrina. I always thought that it was interesting that Kate played Jill Danko on "The Rookies", and then they had a character named Jill on "Charlie's Angels" that would be played by Farrah.
I agree. Jaclyn was never convincing as the street-smart angel. She morphed into the princess-type from the get-go. Whereas Kate could do anything. Such a great actress. Loved her Sabrina Duncan character with that perky, animated, upbeat personality.
Interesting thought: I wonder if the one episode of ‘Seinfeld’ with Kramer being “interested in the bathroom scene” was inspired by this (LOL). A little food for thought…🤣
Is Leo supposed to be an Italian-American? Not to be prejudice or anything but Sabrina Duncan's cover as Sabrina Lampone may give her an Italian name but she doesn't look Italian. I'm surprised Leo was fooled by her cover.
While Jaclyn was supposed to be the streetwise Angel, she was never able to pull it off. Jaclyn was a human Barbie doll, the lady in big elegant hats etc. were her perfect undercover assignment. Other than that, no. Otherwise she would have been the one to go undercover as the tough, streetwise Angel in "Angels Ahoy" but it was Sabrina instead. Rightfully so.
Kate really was passionate about CA but she ended up having a lousy attitude. when Farrah quit she took it out on Cheryl and even though she had a signed contract she got pissed because she couldn't do K vs K but she was the glue that held the show together
@Flenif2247 As we can see Sabrina was also a lot of fun. And she could be very athletic, too. She jumped and ran fast always ahead of the other angels.
