Kate Martin Just Proved why she's the STEAL of the Draft... 

She's doing exactly what she did at Iowa....yet all we heard was Iowa was a one trick pony....now all of a sudden Iowa had good players?

She's an all around Basketball player. And that is why she should be considered for ROY. Shes changing games off the bench and this is coming from opposing coaches. Not to mention NO plays are called for her......AS A ROOKIE. Becky has said this multiple times. What you see is all her, knowing schemes, gelling with her team mates.....insane

I got to watch Kate her entire career in Carver Hawkeye Arena and three things: she has ALWAYS been a Swiss army knife player who will do whatever the team needs; she has been nicknamed "Money Martin" here in Iowa City for YEARS; Iowa won in the big big games in the NCAA playoffs when Kate had her best possible games and lost when she didn't. She was clutch.

The name you are looking for is NCAA Coach of the Decade Lisa Bluder. - K Mart deserves all of her own credit for taking all of the coaching and making the most of herself. But it is Coach Bluder who taught her, and all of the Iowa players how to: 1. Compliment top tier players and 2. How to be coachable and run a scheme/play and 3. How to do all of the fundamental things that help a basketball team win. This is the genius of Bluder. Conversely, Bluder Coached Clark to lead with her top level talent and to bring out the best in her support cast. - Every Iowa player would be a breath of fresh air for WNBA teams where discipline is lacking and more games are lost than won. K Mart is the best of these, where the coach can expect her to not make the mistakes that so many other ''me first'' players make and instead will be adding by making good basketball choices. = The Fever should pull Czinano out of the Euroleague. Stuelke should be drafted in 2 years. Marshall should play in Europe and improve her shot, then go to the W. (By the way. The exact same thing happens with the Iowa football team which usually ranks about 30th in recruiting yet about 7th in creating NFL players... The fundamental, team-first coaching develops more walk-on to 3 star players to a professional level than any other program.) You are also right about Iowa: Caitlin Clark had awesome role players around her. Gabby Marshal huge on defense or Molly Davis who is not tall, is not a huge scorer, but is super calm and just never made msitakes with the ball. Caitlin made mistakes. When Molly went down we noticed how much her IQ meant in clutch moments.

Kate's aunt is the new iowa head coach. She has basketball in her DNA. Not the most athletic but has a high basketball IQ and it doesn't surprise me at all she is succeeding in the dub

Kate is amazing. She is a hard worker who is willing to adapt and be used wherever needed.

Is anyone guarding Martin? You said it...open shots. There's a huge difference right there. Nobody schemes defensively for players like Martin. She's doing her job.....for now.....let's see with a larger sample size

I don't think Kate Martin is anywhere near her ceiling.

Kate is in a better place with the aces. But imagine if Fever would have drafted Kate at 15. I have no doubt fever would be a better team right now not only on the offensive side but more on the defensive side of the ball.

As soon as you began promoting the coach to be an NBA coach, I knew you have no idea about professional basketball. Iowa had a very strong and skilled group of players. They learned how to receive passes from Clark and successfully finished the play. And they could put the ball into the net. Their weakness was they did not have the height. The Fever players have no idea how to do receive her passes, finish the play, or put the ball into the net. If the coach had any idea about how a team works, she wouldn’t be saying and doing what she is doing.

I'd look good too, if i was playing on the best team in the league as a rook.

Is she selling TICKETS? Is she selling out away-game arenas? No? Then she’s NOT the steal of the draft… she’s just another worker bee. Sorry, but the truth stings sometimes. 🤷‍♂️

Kate's best asset is her natural leadership. It was a huge part of why the Iowa Girls wanted her to return so badly. Plus Kate comes from a family of athletes and sports is just in her blood. As an Iowa fan, I'm very glad the WNBA was smart enough to see her value. Plus Kate's goal is to become a Head Coach someday and I really hope she one day takes over a very strong Iowa program.

Her personality is infectious

Kate is just getting better and I could see her in a couple years being a starter. She plays smart ball. She can score on several levels, plays good D, and is a great leader.

Hannah Stuelke was a track star in high school ....... runs like a deer ....... if Caitlin had another runner like this ...... they would run everybody off the court

I would agree, Kate Martin is a steal. No offense to Caitlin, but her and Kate play two different styles. It was like Scottie Pippen in Chicago. He was good, but they had MJ. I love watching Kate play.

I am pissed that Fever didn't take Kate. The coach wouldn't play her but she clearly is a great role player who understands she has to enable the scoring. She talked in a n interview about walking in front of Clark when she knew Clark was going to get a tech with the officials. I bet that Clark eventually goes to where Martin is, or Martin goes where Clark is.
