Kate McKinnon Perfectly Impersonates Marianne Williamson at the Democratic Debate 

It was awesome - and dead on. And to Elizabeth Warren, I say, "Girlfriend, you are so on."

But it's not satire. Like her Hilary impression, it's sympathetic to the point it approaches threshold of advocacy.

@@hd-xc2lz i definitely get that from this warren impression but i never really interpreted her hillary impression to be sympathetic until she was going against trump. shes certainly not sympathetic in the "campaign ad" where shes physically transforming into bernie as she copies his rhetoric and calls herself an "outsider jew" and then theres the "summertime" skit where she interrupts everyones summer to tell them shes running for president and refers to a group of guys has "18-25 year olds" like its their name. saying things like "in two years ill be 69. Bill told me to tell that to young males" amy poehlers impression is very favorable to hillary it makes her seem hypercompetent if a bit over ambitious. kates hillary comes across like a insane neurotic pandering control freak cartoon character who sees humans as poll numbers and demographics stiff and borderline "alien who is trying very hard to pass as human". it got way more sympathetic after hillary won the primary and was now being contrasted with alec baldwins insane trump she came across as "the sane candidate"

@@inasaira8380 Have to admit I have not seen the two pre-primary-win Hilary impressions by Kate that you mention here, and they sound a lot more like satire, and hilarious. My takeaway from Kate's sympathetic Hilary impressions (pre campaign and during) was of a beleaguered woman who knew she was the best person for the job but others (particularly men) and history got in the way. Came across as early as Obama years with her as Sec. of State. Obama too received absurdly sympathetic treatment from SNL. And while I was a supporter of both Obama and Clinton, I honestly believe SNL does a great disservice to us all by abandoning or softening satire for popular liberal political figures, it smacks of propaganda.

Marianne has had a long career since the 90's with the constant theme of love and forgiveness to heal all pain and wounds. Spiritual transformation is taking your ills and turning it into love and guiding force instead of letting your pain crush you. Her words lead people higher, and all her books are about finding a higher vision for yourself and life. She is not a newcomer and her message is clear. She is using her voice to try to transform America, and she has been trying to heal this country since the 90's on a personal level and now on a political level. She is very consistent and has always spoken from her heart and mind. She rose to prominence in the 90's with a lot of best-selling books on her ideas of spiritual transformation. I'm glad to see her back in the public eye as she is one of the people you can listen to and learn something new from.

I know. People never comment on the way she dresses, but omfg she just has this incredible, unique, and elegant sense of style. Understated, well tailored blazers and suits that all look polished yet comfortable, accentuate without in your face... Also, her hair is great, like it's really beautiful, and the dimples, and how old is she? 26? 37? 48? Does it matter? NO! Did she leave ANYTHING for the rest of us? WHO CARES? Wanna see that movie she's in - It IS the best premise for a film I've heard in a long time.

I love her style...from the suits, to the high fashion at the Emmys, to her T-shirt, sweats, and shabby headphones when she thinks we don't see her haha! Oh and I saw "Yesterday," (um, yesterday actually) and it was really good! I was so caught up in the story that when she finally appeared it was like I had forgotten she was the reason I had gone to see it! Plus, the audience singing along at the end credits was a bonus!

She very much has ideas for action and can very well explain how movements have happened. Her work is about calling people to action. I am actually backing Kamala Harris. Because Marianne's work has been so personally empowering, and because her ability to have gone from a life with no purpose to Time Magazine naming her one of the 50 most influential people of our time, because she started Project Angel Food and took action during the AIDS Crisis when very few people would, because she has written numerous books about how to take action by changing direction, because she speaks about how powerful love & forgiveness are to a society full of rage, because she has earned a part in Oprah's orbit, I very much think Marianne Williamson deserves a much better reception. She has real policy positions. She is the most progressive really. "Metaphysical spirituality" is a belief in people's higher nature and using that higher nature to make decisions. It is inspirational leadership. If America is falling woe to a series of problems that have no solution, we certainly need someone with great insight to find the right way to fix things. Action is the result after you have the analyzed the situation to determine what the right course of action to take. We need to person who has the right ideas to lead the country, so ideas are the fuel for action.

I think her Marianne impersonation sucked. I was hoping it would've been better. Instead of a real impersonation, she focused on her words which were completely misunderstood in this instance. MW is incredibly intelligent and her point was that if the Dems think that reciting their points will gather them votes, they don't get what people want to hear. They want to be inspired. There is a place for plans and a place for inspiration. Monotone talking points that are not spontaneous will not persuade anyone of the candidates' authenticity.Get real Dems!

She has one already! Hulu greenlit it last month...it's a drama and I'm excited to see her branch out. She did one scene is a sort of comedy show that was actually a more dramatic role...and made me think she would be great in "Streetcar Named Desire."

I'm not saying that Kate won't be/hasn't been fantastic in a lot of other mediums, but I truly think that sketch comedy is the place where her talent is best utilized. We want cast members we love to be more successful, "bigger" than SNL, but there are some people who are BUILT for sketch, and a I think Kate is one of them. I feel like her range and eccentricity would be waisted stuck in some long form show as a consistent character. In sketch comedy she can go big and crazy with her characters in a way that's not really sustainable for the star character of a TV show or even a movie. The VARIETY of her characters is so wounderful. The only movie/show I can think of that tried to utilize that amazing skill is Dana Carvey's film Master Of Disguise. That film was specifically built so that Dana could do lots of crazy charicters in one film, and it still didn't really work and was unsuccessful. Hopefully Kate does get a Garth/Wayne's World-type opertunity to shine outside of SNL sometime soon, but I hope I get to watch her do sketch comedy for a long time.

I appreciate a lot of what she has to say, and yes, fundamentally she is even right about the love thing and how our society needs it. But she should know there is a time and place for each message and in a presidential debate the focus should be on specific policies and plans. They are a politician's toolkit for achieving all those goals and ideals, so just saying she would change America with love is incredibly vague and woefully inadequate in this context.
