Mastic is the resin derived from the mastic tree (Pistacia lentiscus), it looks like a tear drop, and has seriously antimicrobial , antioxidant and antifungal properties. We use it as a chewing gum also for its properties and has a very unique aroma. We use it in recipes in sweets, as a liquor, in toothpastes is very soothing for sensitive gums, as a powder we used it in varnishing collodium plates the old photography days, I remember using it diluted in alcohol as a fixative for pencil drawings when I was in high school. It is very very expensive and my guess is this is why Miss Moss uses it, but it has a lovely smell also and you can find it in Greek cosmetics for that reason and all the above. (When I say we, I mean we Greeks). It is produced in only one island here, Chios island but I've heard that in Turkey they have some trees also. Try it as a chewing gum I you can find it in some Greek shop.

Check for cosmoss by kate moss (no space), you'll find their site. Also, alkanizing is used here to mean reducing inflammation or acidity I believe, but they're using a more legit/scientific sounding word for it 😂

I don't know about other countries but here in Hungary La Roche Posay is a brand that is only sold in pharmacies. It's on the higher end of the price tag (compared to drug store stuff like Nivea and Loreal), but it worth every penny for me. The drugstore sells COSRX and other K-beauty in similar price range.

The same thing in bulgaria. Right now la roche-posay (found in pharmacies) spf 50 is cheaper than the inkey list spf30. Not even considering the bundle deals which are usually quite the bargain

La Roche Posay, here in Bulgaria, is primarily, if not only sold in pharmacies… it’s considered “medical cosmetics”, that’s why is sold alongside brands like Vichy, Eucerin, Bioderma, etc… and usually is a bit on the pricier side…

Honestly I use it still when I have to be out like hiking cuz girl.. I once was out the whole day for 8 hours in the sun (I forgot to reapply😭)..it held up and I didn't burn...i am hospital walls pale... I would trust that sunscreen against gun bullets lmao

I’ve got it this year because my kids have sensory issues and are really struggling with suncream right now. It seems a bit nicer for them, and they are less upset using it, so it’s worth the price tag, because the wrong texture means we will avoid using it unless we “have” to and then they are getting sun damage :( I’d love other suncream recommendations for sensory sensitive people!

In Germany la Roche is mostly sold in pharmacy’s and really big drugstore like Müller. It is on the higher end but they often have deals so you can you get it for around 12-15€ which is 15$.

Speaking for Italy, La Roche Posay is mostly sold in drugstores and it's definitely not very cheap. Not extremely expensive either, though. And you can often find it on sale.

It's so important to ...not drink alkaline water because it usually tastes terrible. 😆 It will encourage your body to make more acid. But if you drink lemon water, which is acidic, it has an antioxidant effect. Alkaline though idk ..

@@MizMima yep!!! But the LRP I currently use actually works for me. The *OTHER* LRP facial sunscreens however still sting... the blue one used to be marketed for especially sensitive eyes, they changed that labeling but it still works for me luckily. It's my holy grail.

La Roche is pretty commonly used here in europe and yes its what you get in pharmacies. I think in Europe people are more going for more expensive skincare than cosmetic procedures (don't quote me on that, just what I see around me). I personally like Eucerin and The Ordinary more though.

In Turkey, La Roche Posay is not considered as drug store but it is actually cheaper than K-Beauty products and really popular among people. It is also sold in pharmacies. Its effaclar series is what you would most likely to buy as a skincare newbie dealing with acne.

To my knowledge La Roche Posay and Avene are French pharmacy brands. It's good quality and more affordable than the luxury market. You find it in "drug stores" but It's still not cheap. I'm a fan of La Roche Posay's sunscreen and Avene have a moisturiser that is famous for being good if you are having a reaction to a product.

In Australia 🦘🇦🇺 La Roche-Posay sunscreen is the most expensive sunscreen sold in chemists (drug stores) if you don't wait for catalog sales... I use 2, the one Kate uses in your video I use on my face & the spray version on my body... I love it... Here in The Netherlands you can buy La Roche ( and Vichy) at a pharmacy. And anywhere online. Not in the drugstore. Prices are between 15- 30 euro, I think.

There are time that i sent message direct to brand's website to confirm but some are lying even though they are not officially in the list of cruelty free brands. Hi, Cassandra! I guess butterflies told you already, but in case not - yes, La Roche Posay is a pharmacy line in Europe, with a bit higher pricing. So are Avene, Vichy, Bioderma, Caudalie, Uriage; Nuxe etc. (I´m a pharmacist and visited a lot of european pharmacies outsides of my country too)

Hi! I live in Spain & I can speak to La Roche Posay being in drugstores in Europe (at least in Spain & France). So over here the drugstore model is a bit different. It’s isn’t like CVS where you can buy everything at one convenience store that is labeled a “pharmacy”. Over here if you’re looking for skincare products at the grocery store or convenience store you’ll really only find súper basic stuff like Nivea. Pharmacies here on the other hand, are entirely separate businesses (usually marked by a green plus sign, not to be confused with the green plus sign they use in LA to denote weed dispensaries haha), and those are where you’ll go for your prescriptions, Tylenol equivalents, allergy meds, etc. Since we have universal healthcare over here, pills & medications aren’t considered as much of a business over here, so if you’re sick but don’t want to make an appointment with your doctor, you would probably have to go to a pharmacy & tell them I have X symptoms and they’ll make a suggestion, rather than just going into CVS and searching through the varieties of DayQuil, mucinex, etc to see which “seems right”. Pharmacies over here also usually carry more specialized skin, mouth & hair care products compared to the grocery & convenience stores here, La Roche Posay usually wouldn’t be found in a place like that bc while it’s specialized, it’s considered more upscale (though not quite luxury). THEN (at least in Spain) there are things called ‘Parafarmacias’ which offer basically more specialized & extensive/upscale skin, hair, and other healthcare items but DO NOT fill prescriptions or have over the counter medication. At least in Spain, La Roche Posay usually is found in Parafarmacias, so since there’s no US English equivalent for this, technically yes it’s “available in the drugstore” but hopefully that makes more sense now haha

In Sweden LRP is sold in pharmacies, but I think we see it as a little bit more exciting since it’s foreign 😛 so it’s priced a tiny bit higher then our own Swedish brand named Aco that does basically the same thing. Aco has a mattifying sunscreen that’s amazing, but LRP fluid one is the best for that “invisible” feeling.

LRP is sold in most pharmacies over Europe (I never encountered one that didn't have them) - I live in Scandinavia and have no issue getting it. The prices are reasonable, more expensive than drugstore (say Nivea for example) but definitely not luxury, not even close. I have used them a lot and love the brand. Superior in every way to the skincare these celebrities are "pooping" out, they are the ones that deserve the "poop" tag, definitely not LRP.

From my experience your eye region can get hotter. I wear glasses and during PE class whenever I moved a lot and my body temperature got higher, my glasses started to get foggy on the inner side due the higher heat in the area + sweat. Not to mention that irritations due to allergy and eczema could raise the temperature too. Or at least it sure feels like it.

In Bulgaria LA Roche is in every mid size pharmacy. My top fav from them is the Lipicar Balm - great for atopic skin. I believe it's about 20 eur or so for 400ml too. Love the stuff!

I live in Cyprus. I started using the La Roche Posay sunscreen recently. Based on different ones I've tried, I really prefer the texture and feel of this one. I would avoid using sunscreens before because I hated how they felt on my face. This one, I was impressed. Yes I got it at the pharmacy, off the shelf. €24.70 for 50ml. Currency exchange, pretty much the same in dollar value. So no not the cheapest but it does go a long way.

You would have to drink an absolutely insane amount of alkaline water for it to do anything to your stomach acid. A normal amount everyday mostly like won’t cause anything bad to happen gastrointestinally. If anything alkaline water is just a waste of money. Also btw pepsin (digestive enzyme) is the thing in your stomach that breaks down protein not the acid itself.

In Canada La Roche-Posay is sold in drugstores but it’s in the fancier skincare part of the drugstore (along with Bioderma, Mario Badescu, Avène, Lancôme, Vichy, etc). It’s a lot more expensive than what you’d find in the aisles (CeraVe, Neutrogena, Aveeno, etc).

In France, where La Roche Posay is from, it is considered “drugstore” on the lower or more budget-friendly end of the scale, and I’ve only seen them sold in Pharmacies. In the US, it WAS considered closer to the higher end of the middle-of the road priced skincare. I was told that the reasoning for this was due to the cost of having it shipped and approved in the US. However, since it’s become cheaper all around to get it here, the prices have lowered significantly in recent years (I mentioned to someone how I grew up seeing a huge disparity in price point and how it’s viewed in France vs the US and how I was surprised it was so much cheaper now. They educated me lol).

When people talk about "alkalizing" foods I wonder if they are really (unintentionally maybe) referring to the traditional Chinese and also Ayurvedic principles of hot/cold and the importance of keeping those balanced in your body so as to avoid things like inflammation, dehydration, skin issues, fatigue etc....? "Hot" foods aren't necessarily foods you'd expect but can include things like nightshade plants, certain oils and meats, salt, acids etc and overdoing them can contribute to what they call "shanghuo" in TCM. The best translation for "shanghuo" we have is "inflammation." Cooling foods like Asian pear and even chili peppers can be prescribed to "cool" the body down and balance inflammation. It sounds very similar to the concept of alkaline and acidic foods, and I even see that a lot of the "acidic" foods are what Eastern medicine would describe as inflammatory. Also I wrote this without fact-checking myself so if I misidentified any of the inflammatory/cooling foods in TCM feel free to correct me!

la roche posay definitly have one of the strongest spfs i ever used. Their uvmune invisible line have a ppd of 46. Its the only sunscreen i really feel a storng protection. Even on my vacation where i were super much in the sun and have been sweating at a hike i didnt get sun burned. Where often other sunscreens failed.

I would say, that in Europe La roche posay is somewhere between luxury and drugstore. It's higher price than regular drugstore, but not quite luxury yet. Especially this sunscreen is pretty affordable for something soo good. I use UV Mune 400 in hydrating formula.

Here in Germany it used to be pharmacy only. Since a few years you can find some products at the drugstore, too. But only a few items. If you are looking for something special it’s better to go in a pharmacy, since they offer the whole product pallet. It’s a bit pricy in the drugstore and we have much better, cruelty free product lines, with clean ingredients in the same price range or cheaper🤷‍♀️

Someone from the UK, here: La Roche Posay is widely available in popular drugstores throughout the UK (Boots and Superdrug are the biggest ones) but they’re still pretty expensive. They’re £18 ($20) for a 50ml bottle of sunscreen.

In Belgium and UK you can buy these in pharmacies, in UK you can buy these in pharmacy/ drug store chain Boots as well. Price range will be slightly higher than general drug store prices but I wouldn’t say it is super expensive. In Belgium it would be a main brand dermatologist and gp’s advise to use where people have minor skin problems.

I never understood touting vaseline for lips. It NEVER worked for me. It made my lips worse. I don't know if it made me lick them, but either way, never worked for me. My newest go-to is Hermes Bakuchiol Lip Mask. And btw~ champagne and vodka together make a fabulous drink!

Vaseline just locks in moisture and protects, if your lips are already dry it won’t do much. I usually wash my face and pat so my skin is damp, then use my regular moisturiser over my lips (and face of course lol) and seal in the water and moisture with vaseline.

Please patch test before hand, but 100% Shea butter is really good for improving, evening complexion and skin tone. I personally have had really annoying dark spots from acne and face it with Dr.Organic, lightening cream containing “algowhite” and Apis Mellifera (Royal Jelly). It really works to fade dark spots. Very quickly. The Dr Organic is more for dark spots and the Shea butter for all over.
