KATEE SACKHOFF: Survivor’s Guilt, Battlestar Blow Ups & Star Wars Firsts! 

I don't usually comment but have to say Katee is the real deal. I met her at Galaxy Con a few years ago and couldn't believe how down to earth and engaging she was. An example, a young girl went up to meet her and started crying with joy. Katee jumped from around the counter and began hugging and consoling her. Touching moment that the girl will never forget and I guess I won't either. Katee is one of the good ones.

I had the pleasure of meeting katee sackhoff in 2010 comic con. I even took my shirt off to show my bsg wings I had tattoed. ( I asked first if I could show them) it's one of the greatest days of my life which I will never forget. I never usually write these comments but I am for once, currently a survivor of ptsd and when ever things get difficult I think to myself 'what would starbuck do?' so I mentally fight on. Thank you for your inspiration katee, youve changed my life and you don't even know it. (and I hope she sees this comment, which will be very unlikely) This was a brilliant interview, myself and your fans ketee will always have your back. I met her at the Winter Comic Con at London in 2014. She was so spectacular that the image of her coming through the main door is stuck in my mind forever. Gorgeous woman.

This is such a great episode love Katee Sackhoff,loved her in Battlestar Galactica. I am glad you got her back onto the podcast loved the other episodes she was on and she really opens up. I lost my older sister last year to cancer, she had thyroid cancer and survived it, but later on she pasted of lung and brain cancer. My youngest sister takes medication for thyroid. I survived throat cancer in 2013 and they found a small nodule a year ago that are not cancer. I get check every year and I feel like Katee about surviving and get worried about cancer coming back. I lost my mother to cancer in 2010 to colon. Not all cancer is hereditary, but there is always that chance of getting cancer. Our bodies already have cancer cells that were born with. We never know what causes them to be active, we just need to take care of ourselves and eat healthy and exercise every day. It’s important to get checked out. Specially, if you know there’s something going on with your body that is not normal, never ignore it. Love this podcast glad Michael created it, it’s been a big blessing in my life and so many of his listeners. Michael and the team of inside of you Rock!!

On a sad but true note: Take care of your elderly loved ones and do Whatever It Takes to prevent falls! My Grandfather died 2 months after he fell. He was 98.

Even killing Zombies is seriously hardcore. And Halo 3 is the koolest game ever. Me, my younger and older brothers, we love Halo. Halo is my first favorite game. All of them. So I wouldn't say I love myself, and truthfully, I don't think I ever will, but I've gotten to the point of being okay with myself. This might not sound like much of an achievement, but the depths of my self loathing had no bounds when I was growing up. To the point of not even wanting to see myself in reflective surfaces, I would avoid any reflection of me at all. 2 things really changed my opinion of myself. 1) There's a scene in the movie Seven Pounds that's always stuck with me. The main character says to another "you're a good person even when you don't think anyone's watching you." Obviously I'm not perfect, but I realized that for most of my life, that has been true of me. I've had slips, sure, but I always choose to do the right thing, to be good, and not out of fear of judgment, or worrying about how I'll look, but just because I value and believe in doing the right thing. And I keep that phrase with me now. I want to live up to that for the rest ofnmy life. 2) The second realization was starting to see positive outcomes on behalf of my efforts, or just because of my nature. People whom I greatly admired and respected would come to me for my input because they valued it, they appreciated my ways of thinking all the way through the various aspects of an issue, they valued my wisdom and knowledge, they valued knowing I would tell them the truth even if it wasn't what they wanted to hear, but I also wouldn't be a dick about it. These aren't assumptions I made... People actually told me these things. It took many retellings, many reassurances, many instances of this type of thing coming up again and again... Before I could accept it. I had a similar experience at my job. Originally, I was the assistant/helping hands in my department, but the other guy got himself fired... And suddenly I was in charge, and the only person in my department. It was very much sink or swim. I worked really hard, always aimed for perfect, tried to figure out how to keep the quality of my work high, and how to get more out of myself with better efficiency and planning. And boy, did it ever work out well for me. I got a lot of respect, recognition, and praise for what I accomplished. It's not that I needed other people's praise to fix me or change my opinion, I just needed enough proof and help to recognize it to see things in myself. I could draw a direct line from efforts I made to positive outcomes I achieved. Like I said, I don't think I'll ever LOVE myself, but I don't despise myself like I used to. I'm okay with more of myself than I've ever been. But I don't want to be someone who just stops trying, so I keep telling myself I still have a long way to go. I don't want to die tomorrow as the same person I am today. Yeah, there's a lot of perfectionism in all of that, but the difference is I'm now okay with it if I'm not perfect, because I'll know I gave it my best and likely things will probably still work out pretty good. I don't know if all of this will be seen by anyone, but if it helps anyone at all, it'll be worth the effort. And... Don't be afraid to apologize or admit you were wrong. It takes more strength to say "you're right" or "I'm sorry" than it does to stubbornly deny it. I've never met anyone who's maturity and wisdom I've looked up to who couldn't do those things.

Another good episode! ❤ I never saw Battlestar or the Star Wars she was a part of but she was funny on the Big Bang Theory.

I can totally relate with what they are talking about at around 29.20 "I think that when you are young we are blissfully ignorant to consequences and death, and anytime you encounter something in your life that stops you, that like sort of like opens your eyes to the fragility of it all, you become hyper aware of it at a very young age and that's what happened to me" then "I used it to feel sorry for myself". When I was 26 years old, I was in a pretty nasty car crash, we were going to a concert with friends when I got hit in the driver door (I was driving) by a car that passed a red light. The driver was drunk, but happened to be the son of a local politician so all charges mysteriously vanished. Me on the other hand ended up with an extensive time in the hospital, spleen removed, broken ribs, broken leg, head trauma, plus a bunch of other minor things. Fast forward almost 30 years I'm now doing quite ok with just a few mandatory daily pills and having to be careful of this and that due to the lack of spleen, but otherwise "quite lucky". But at the time, it totally shifted my perspective on the world, I was probably an impossible person to live with by then, with a super dark outlook on the world, with "why bother" and "life sucks and then you die" approach to life: Realizing that at any time you can just simply die in a way totally out of your own control is extremely impactful. It took me quite a few years before switching to a more sane view of life. Very interesting podcast, thanks for sharing! (and yes, that was one month ago, just happened that I finished watching BSG and youtube is now showing me a lot of Katee Sackhoff related content :D)

This was a really great interview! The way Katee described her husband, how he loved her and that allowed her to accept and love herself, that is how I see God/Jesus in my life. He truly loves you for who you are, simply wanting to have that intimacy and relationship with you. Idky, but Katee's description really touched me. I hope anyone reading this will feel God's love so that they can love and accept themselves as well. God Bless y'all ❤️

Loved it! I had my thyroid taken out because of nodules but they weren’t cancerous and come to find out my thyroid was really enlarged. My gynecologist found the nodule too and I started getting more and they had to stick needles in to get biopsies to make sure it wasn’t cancerous, so I just decided t have it taken out. It runs in the family my dad had had his taken out, one of my sisters and they took out half of my mothers. Mine was so enlarged it pushed out my adams apple and I remember getting made fun of because of that by one guy I knew. On meds for the rest of my life. Michael, thanks for these podcasts!

I haven't been watching your podcast long, Michael, but this one, it seemed to me you got a lot out of talking with Katee as your guests regularly do talking with you. I’m hypo-thyroid. It is basically the CPU for your body. Controls hormones, metabolism, mental clarity, and so much more. Katee manages things very well.

Katee Sackhoff is so cool, and love the voice. Glad she's getting even more recognition for her Bo Katan role. Oh have to say, it's not Fantastic Mr. Fox, it's Fox In Socks. I know because it's my fave Dr. Seuss book, and yes, it's got tons of tongue twisters, that pile up on each other as the book goes on.

I had anxiety until I stopped drinking. Never thought it was the cause, it just so happened I stopped drinking and within 6 months all my anxieties went away.

The "what's good for the goose is good for the gander" is shortened, which is why it doesn't mean much. It used to be "the sauce that is good for the goose, is good for the gander". Where the sauce is good for both the female and male geese.

Kevin Conroy did get to play a live action version of a older Bruce Wayne / Batman in a big Arrowverse Crisis crossover, before he sadly passed away. But it was a cameo sort of role. Great talk though! Katee is amazing, been a big fan since Battlestar days.
