Interesting, never heard of a "2nd group" pacer, always thought there was one (or two) for everyone. Interesting that she knew ahead of time she'd be in the 2nd group.

I think that soon, people are going to begin to realize that something historic is happening right before their eyes. KT has set three collegiate indoor records in two weeks: 1500 (en route to the mile record), the mile, and now the 3000. What's next? Has this ever been done before, on "this scale"?

She seemed pretty annoyed (understandably) by the litany of NIL questions, pretty strange time to ask about that, to that extent.

Can someone explain to me why adidas would want to sign Katelyn even though she’s gonna wear adidas anyway bc of NC State? What is in it for the brand? I guess I don’t really understand NIL deals

She's the first distance runner who got a shoe deal with a big brand. There was an interview with Adidas Executive about why they signed Katelyn Tuohy. Search "Katelyn Tuohy turned Pro by Letsrun" it should pop up.

In my opinion that is highly unlikely, but anything is possible. Only time will tell what her ultimate capability is. As great as she is at her current level of competing, there remains an enormous gap between what she can do now and what she would need to do to run with and beat the best in the world. If she stays healthy (always a big question with distance runners), it will be interesting to see how far she can go. Whatever happens in the future, she is a gifted and hardworking athlete and deserves accolades for her current accomplishments, whatever the future may bring.

I think pacers should not be allowed. The runners need to be running on their own without that kind of help.

As an Atheist Athlete I what to thank you for not making your success all about your belief in something that is stronger than you are. The family, the opportunity the education the dream.less likely you are going to believe in. From what I’ve read you are intelligent, so was Karch Kiraly. You are so inspiring for an old athlete like me.

No doubt. Katelyn is highly intelligent which explains a lot.
@Doo_Doo_Patrol
@Doo_Doo_Patrol Год назад
There are a lot of things stronger than she is, and also a lot of things stronger than you are. A family can be totally supportive of a person who does not turn out well at all. Opportunity is a word for losers who sit and wait for opportunity. Education is available to everyone with a functioning brain. Dreams come and go in the night. You are judgmental and maybe think you are more intelligent than you have right to be. Time to go out to pasture and ponder life.
@wberckmann

It's too bad you had to assert your disbelief in God. You just did what you thanked Katelyn not to do. If you want your atheism respected then respect other people's conviction in a God. You just expressed a sense of hypocrisy and we can all see it.

@@jamezkpal2361 she’s 20 years old so not a kid. I admit she is deep,y impressive within the domestic USA environment- but just imagine what a hiding the 20 year old Letesenbet Gidey would give her in any race. It’s international stars that America needs, let’s hope she keeps progressing and doesn’t feel the pressure and burden of all the hype and expectations…..

I don't think you realize how long it takes to develop a world class international track athlete. They are working to make her an Olympic runner, this was a great step for her, having her race against Olympic quality runners in a familiar setting. She's 20 years old and has the potential to be in multiple Olympics.

The winner Monson is a professional runner four years older than Tuohy and ran an amazing race. Tuohy, however, set three NCAA records in two weeks. She is being interviewed and lauded because she is such a prodigious phenomenon in women's track. Now STFU and come back in four years and see where she is.
@ddahstan6876
@ddahstan6876 Год назад
Well, the winner is a Pro at the Elite level while Tuohy's just fresh in the door, sort of speak. Wouldn't be fair to say that they're at the same level! Give Katelyn a few more years then I guarantee she'll get every record that's recorded for her competed U.S events.

The title says she set the NCAA record. Which she did. That is news. If you don't care about the record going down, then don't watch.
@wntfan656
@wntfan656 Год назад
Sure, I have a question, If you don't understand races that involve different levels of athlete, why don't you go find something you do understand? Maybe this can help: In a marathon people across multiple age groups compete at the same time. By your argument, a 50 year old setting their age group record is meaningless unless unless they beat all the 40 year olds and 30 year olds, etc. This was a college athlete competing against pros. She smashed the NCAA record...and that deserves recognition. If this was your daughter racing, would you have the same reaction? LeBron James just set the NBA scoring record in a game he lost. I am sure it was bittersweet for him in some respects...but this achievement was still celebrated, even though this team lost. A record is a record.
