Mike Weill, I am watching this on 8/13/22 and I was telling my daughter that they didn't mention Katelyn until the last two laps. I guess her high school career meant nothing?
Exactly everytime she mentioned who to look out for I'm like "really" don't you know who Katelyn is"? Lady is an idiot acting all super surprised when Katelyn holds onto 2nd place!!!
I'm not from the area (I'm from SoCal), but I've never heard of an anti NC State bias. I'm biased against NC State because they beat UCLA basketball in the 1974 semi-finals. Damn that Skywalker!
Nice of the commentators to give Katelyn Touhy a tiny mention there in the last couple laps of this race. It's not like she's a Sophomore finishing 2nd place in the entire Country or anything..?? 😕 lol Very strange how they didn't mention her name until the very end, even though she was with the lead pack the entire race. Wth..??
This was a fantastic race. It was a great win to Courtney Wayment. How fantastic was it to see Katelyn Tuohy racing so well again. Looks like Katelyn has recovered and I particularly liked seeing the grimace and effort on that final lap ... she wanted it. Watching Katelyn on youtube as a high school student she showed so much talent and literally won everything. Fantastic to see Katelyn has been able to keep her focus through the transition to college with injuries to come out the other side with that killer instinct intact to want to win again. Not many young athelete's get the opportunities to keep going after high school as life gets in the way and it is truely extraordinary to see what we are watching today. If you happen to read this post Katelyn please keep going as you have the makings of a true champion to inspire others that sport is a wonderful route to travel.
One of the few times I've seen Katelyn look like she was straining was the last half lap here. 110% Plus her heavy traffic moves were second to no one. Damn she can run!!!
Yes, excellent & gutsy performance. Katelyn is learning how to race in a pack with other high caliber athletes, and her kick is becoming a strength. Post-race interview: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lb317rP-kHs.html
I would say Tuohy learned these runners aren’t anything for her to be afraid of. She held back in the slow pace and it cost her. I think she wanted to move earlier but was hesitant to believe she could take them.
yeah I agree. I thought her name would be mentioned much earlier. Infact the announcer sounded surprised to see her there. Have I missed something? Her times should have put her front and centre of the announcers thoughts
Lol, I thought it was a one off thing or she really did well in every other race and this was a one off - if that's the case then the commentators need to find a new profession, but seriously they didn't even give credit for the first two places after waxing on about Chelangat's repertoire and strategy and blah, blah, blah..... Both Courtney and Touhy grinded through whatever she threw at them and came out on top in the end.
I am very curious why the announcers went seemingly out of their way to not mention her name until they were practically forced to. Why is that? Didn't want to upset the senior athletes? Surely they knew she would be a contender before the race began? Something seems afoot and I'd like to know what. :-)
If not for the covid rule, Katelyn would have won her first national title in this race, the winner is a 6th year senior, without the additional covid year, wayment would have gone pro already but she got additional year due to covid. Katelyn would have completed a trifecta or quadfecta, with an indoor 5000m title, outdoor 5000m title and 6k cross country individual and team title all in one year!!!!!!!!!!!
Besides the Pack, New mexico always impresses me too. Lots of talent but they always negative split and take people down late in the race. That's how you run a real race. Alabama opposite of that. Coaching.
I admit I am a katelyn T fan. But lately I haven't been seeing alot of competitive-Ness from her. Mabey it's a strategy to test her waters against different people but this is the second time I have seen her get beaten for the same non competiveness. I have no dbout she can't beat this runner but I think she just has to want it. Anyways this is just my opinion on the matter.
God was on that Florida Gators girls side, not on the other girls side. God liked her better, God didn't like the other girl. She prayed so the other girl wouldn't beat her. Doesn't this sound ridiculous?
