Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt is an American New York Times bestselling author, TV correspondent, philanthropist, and the daughter of actor Arnold Schwarzenegger and broadcast journalist Maria Shriver. In 2019, Katherine married actor Chris Pratt, and let me tell you - they are relationship goals.
In 2010, she wrote her first book entitled Rock What You’ve Got: Secrets to Loving Your Inner and Outer Beauty from Someone Who’s Been There and Back. In this book, Katherine describes her personal journey and encourages other young women to achieve confidence and a positive self-image.
Her fourth book called The Gift of Forgiveness is set for release on March 10. In the book, she interviews 22 different women about their experience overcoming trauma and hurt while figuring out the path to healing and forgiveness.
Katherine is also a HUGE animal lover. Katherine works as an Ambassador for Best Friends Animal Society and the ASPCA, lending her time, voice, and energy to spread awareness about animal rescue. She rescued her own dog, Maverick, and even wrote a children’s book about him called Maverick and Me.
Katherine is such a genuinely kind and thoughtful person. I really enjoyed this interview with her and was blown away by the things she had to say.
Are you battling with forgiveness? Do you feel imprisoned by your pain? Then join me on Episode 925 with the wonderful Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt to learn how forgiveness is a step toward healing and greatness.

Man, these comments are brutal and show the cruelty and judgment of the human heart. It's not her responsibility to have a relationship with her father's mistress's son - half brother or not. I'm sure it took a load of work and a long time just to work through the betrayal and pain and continue in relationship with her father.

This message is so important. I learned so much about forgiveness when my son died. I had to forgive God. God didn’t need me to forgive him but I needed to forgive him for me. Five years later I was raped and my anger kept me trapped as a victim. I didn’t find freedom from that experience until I forgave him. Finally when my husband bankrupted me the only thing that kept us together was forgiveness. You cannot live a life of emotional freedom without forgiveness. Sometimes forgiveness can be the snap of your fingers and other times it can take a long time. Forgiveness of self is also vital for our internal health. Nobody is perfect and we all make mistakes. 💖

@@kathesanchez7990 hi Kate, I’m not the original commenter obviously but I’ve just seen your comment and want to share my little piece of advice. I’m also working on forgiveness. It’s a long journey when the pain is so deep it hurts your soul. My pain comes from childhood trauma and witnessing domestic violence. The trauma destroys development and the anger, depression, complex ptsd, and so much more makes you feel lost and out of will. I’ve had trauma therapy which has helped me challenge the magnitude of power that trauma has. Therapy really is powerful and is proven to be effective. Finding the right therapist is essential. For more, I believe God has made all the change I’ve needed. To this day, my inner child is hurt and in despair however I face thoughts of doubt, worry, fear and hopelessness knowing God’s word. It’s like He brings in new life and you live in a new life in God’s strength and understanding, and not your own. Seek God.

I choose to forgive because I deserve to be healed. I deserve to be free from anger, resentment and suffering. Holding onto anger only hurts you because you walk around with an open wound. A wounded person wants to wound others, and we become no better than those who hurt us. Forgiveness is "a gift we give ourselves" because it is telling us that we deserve to be free from pain. We don't have to suffer any more and we can choose to move on and create a wonderful life for ourselves.

I’ve watched the start of this interview and am disappointed. I would like to hear points on forgiveness but wonder how this lady is qualified through life experience to teach anything about forgiveness. She’s just said over and over what a wonderful upbringing and loving and supportive family and husband she has. I like to hear from people who have overcome real challenges in life. If she’s struggled with forgiveness then how do those with much more difficult life experiences forgive. It’s not as simple as just forgiving. Whether you have had a whole lot of love and support in your life makes a difference to how you’re affected by your experiences.
@MsDrSantana
@MsDrSantana 4 года назад
The elephant in the room is that her father publicly humiliated his wife and children by being found out to have fathered a child many years earlier with their maid. This is what she should be talking about--the only thing that would qualify her but instead, she's talking abstractly about minor incidents of forgiveness that are not from the heart. Her mother forgave her father by continuing to care for him and include him in family events!!! That is the example of forgiveness and she's pretending none of those events happened. It doesn't get more fake.
@krissyk354
@krissyk354 3 года назад
@@MsDrSantana we all know the truth behind that so I don’t think it’s anyone’s business to know specific details of her families personal business. Personally I feel she tuned that out for many reasons. Whatever she feels to share that’s personal to her that she is comfortable in sharing that’s the truth not what we had read on her fathers past. I’m sure she is working on forgiveness as she said so in the video which is good cause it shows she’s owning up to specific things. We just don’t need to hear what those things are. It’s not our place to tell others what to forgive. The fact she’s doing it and is teaching others how it can be done that’s the important lesson.

It is interesting. Forgiveness is such a tricky thing to fully grasp with our mind. It really isn't an intellectual understanding, I believe it has to come from the heart. And I find that you can't force it. You can't make yourself forgive before you are ready to do so no matter how much you want it. I struggle to forgive sometimes cause a part of me feels if I forgive it will happen again, and the sense of injustice can be hard to over come. Tricky stuff, I yearn for the freedom total forgiveness can bring, but it can be hard to let go fully when someone you truly loved and trusted has betrayed you. The defense is up, almost as if the "body" is protecting you. Still working on that one... 😅

IDK why this came up on my feed....but I did watch i and read comments. IMO, forgiveness is a tricky thing but its all about accepting how others actions make you feel. Forgiveness allows you to let go of those feelings....it does NOT mean you have to continue a relationship or forge a relationship with the people involved. It allows you to move on and wish others well to get on with their own lives. At the end of the day she chose to repair the bond with her father. She doesn't need to do anything else beyond that.

She has no responsibility to have a relationship with him and no one has the right to judge her choice. You can forgive and set a boundary to keep someone out of your life. That can be true even if he is innocent of any wrongdoing. And we dont know what has happened privately between all these people either.

Could you ever forgive your two older brothers who thought so little of u, they didn't tell, verbally/Letter/message that your mom had cancer and she died and you never knew, you never got to tell her you loved her so much, you never got to say goodbye and you never got to make peace with her, They let her pass away thinking her daughter didn't love her and say goodbye.. Could you forgive them...

@Annamarie Seaman Well I only feel lots of Anger ( obviously) Guilt didn't know, couldn't be there.

Yes of course! Consider this: 1. Everyone does the best they can with their current level of awareness (even your brothers) 2. We are immortal spirit souls (so chances are you'll see your Mom in another life) 3. Our spirit's natural path is for growth (so we kind of have to forgive everything anyway eventually)

Your comment exudes the pain you are in. Another thing that grabs my attention is that you have blamed your brothers for not giving you the opportunity to reconcile with your mom. What kept you from reconciling before she died? Why would one want to wait until she is on her death bed to forgive and make amends? There are many injustices that we have and will encounter in life. How we respond is our choice. I love how Katherine talked about the offending party doesn’t need to ask for forgiveness. Forgiveness sets yourself free from being caged up in anger, resentment, and unhappiness. Forgiveness is for yourself. I would recommend forgiving yourself, and work towards forgiving your brothers. Forgiving yourself can be the hardest battle of all. I know it has been for me. I hope you find this comment helpful

Of course, that’s actually the most important thing to do with oneself! It’s not easy but one has to try. It’s not an easy journey but one has to always try to live his or her life without anger or guilt. If not, one’s guilt or anger would affect everyone in the family or everyone around that person. One should always try to live harmoniously with everyone. But one needs guidance to overcome these feelings and not just dwell or hide it to oneself.

Actually she has done little except be Arnie daughter and Chris’ wife. She never had a career - the”book” is her attempt at something I believe. Yes she is pretty vague about everything

Everyone commenting from a high pedestal of perfection and apparent personal knowledge of this girl. You people don't know shit except what you read on gossip sites. So judgemental and harsh and frankly IMO jealous. NONE OF YOU COME FROM A PLACE OF PERFECTION.

You probable forgave him so he can leave you millions of dollars. I wouldn't forgive my father if he did what your father did.

Ehhhh clearly she needs to find a better tailor. They couldn’t even find matching patches for her jacket. 🤔
