When I was a young girl, my daddy told me A lesson he learned, it was a long time ago If you want to have someone to hold onto You're gonna have to learn to let go You got to sing, like you don't need the money Love ,like you'll never get hurt You got to dance, like nobody's watchin' It's gotta come from the heart If you want it to work. Now here is the one thing ,I keep forgettin' When everything is falling apart In life as in love, you know I need to remember There's such a thing as trying too hard You got to sing, like you don't need the money Love, like you'll never get hurt You got to dance, dance, dance like nobody's watchin' It's gotta come from the heart If you want it to work. You got to sing, sometimes, like you don't need the money Love, sometimes, like you'll never get hurt You got to dance, dance, dance like nobody's watchin' It's gotta come from the heart if you want it to work.
I've just finished reading You squared by Price Pritchett. He included this lyrics on the last page of his book, I loved it and came to check it on RU-vid immediately. Amazing book, awesome song. The realest things of life comes from the heart.
Of course I didn't know her, but I think Susanna Clark had a beautiful soul, judging from her writing. And don't forget what a close friend she was to the late great Townes Van Zandt. I think she and husband Guy and TVZ are making beautiful music on the "other side"! Does anyone else think that's a possibility?
First tape I ever bought with my own money around age 9 was willow in the wind. I sung where have you been at elementary talent shows. Kathy was such a pivotal part of my childhood.
I was very lucky to recently take part at a private concert with the famous co-writer of this beautiful song, Richard Leigh. He sings this song so wonderfully himself, it is so full of feeling. Thank you, Richard, for sharing so much love with us.
The line about dance like nobody's watching has been going through my head for about a week. I knew it was from a song but there was some awful rock song with that title that I first found; I'm so glad I found "Come from The Heart." What a beautiful video and rendition of the song, Kathy Mattea! And lord, I remember our hairdos....
back when I was still about nine or ten I would always listen to this. I just Wish to this day why these people do not keep singing. I just love listening to this. it just remind me of my mom.
Comparing Don Williams version with this one, on radio Don version is better because of vocal arrangement but when it comes to live performance I think this one is better as Kathy dance to it with passion something that most country singers don't ..
@cmartinlouis I agree. There isn't anything that he sings is bad. Even does Tulsa Time better than Eric Clapton did. This song was on the Traces album, not a bad or mediocre song on it.
Greetings... Our church in Plymouth, Indiana would like to use this in our live stream service... Is there a way we can get permission to use this video? Great song! Thank you so much for sharing it!! -Thomas
