Speaking as an old and only moderately creative man myself, I can only imagine the joy it should bring to Paul Simon to hear a rendition of his song as lovely and perfeclty performed as this. Well done.
Laura, you just made a man old enough to be your grandpa, cry...What a beautiful version of one of the most beautiful songs ever written and sung. Thank you! Blessings...Marc
I had the great good fortune to meet and get to know Laura while teaching at Cambridge. She is a delightful person. Her cover of this classic is one of my favorites.
Lovely version of this song, young lady. I've never been able to sing this without tears dripping out of my eyes, but you've mastered it. Also I love your British vowels. I think you have a brilliant future if you keep this up. Cheers, Shawn Higgins, San Diego
One of my favorite songs ever, since the album came out in 1966 (I was 9 at the time). I was looking for Eva Cassidy's version and found this. Beautiful voice and amazing guitar. I found a few more songs by you but noticed you haven't posted anything in several years. I hope you are still playing, if even just for yourself.
Wow that's good. Strong right hand and a voice that's wry and sassy. I like the little changes you made to the original. You are the winner of the Kathy's Song Contest. I listened to every cover I could find and yours was by far the best.
Reading the comments i agree , the 12 and 13 year old you both grew up with culture and appreciate music that is sung from the heart and soul. Well myself am a musician and grew up listening from my parents tommy dorsey and the old tv shows that showed music from the heart. 60s were many folk music groups and bluegrass. Peter paul and mary, judy collins, Eva Cassidy. I am happy that you have had the oppertunity to expand your music to a level that most kids today have been brainwashed into the materialistic world of rapcrap. Btw I to cry when kathys song is played. It reminds me the time when there was more love in the world and no cell phones ! Beautiful rendition voice and performance. It truly touches my heart.
Been listening to this for > 40 years and is one of my all-time favourite S&G poems, it's just beautiful and reduces me to tears for all sorts of reasons. Your version is outstanding xx
One of my favourite songs since it came out. Just flipping around and found your version. I can't believe what a wonderful version this is. Your playing is wonderful, but your voice is rich and soft too. I've now listened to all your songs and think they are all beautiful. You really have amazing potential, and I will come back to hear more of your songs. I think you could be the next John Lewis Christmas Ad girl. x
i too play guitar and i have to say. I'm suprised we haven't seen this girl up there. she has more talent than alot of people these days. just society turning a blind eye on talent once again. very beautiful though.
Wow! That was gorgeous. I've been singing and playing this for at least 36 years, so I'm a bit of an expert on this song. I do it with my own non-standard fingerpicking pattern, but you've got the real deal down beautifully. I don't think I've ever heard this done so well. I think the line is "My mind's distracted and diffused..."
