What a finish! Kauto Star wins the 2009 Betfair Chase at Haydock after a fantastic battle with Imperial Commander.
Only a nose was in it at the finish as fortunes ebbed and flowed up the home straight. This was Kauto Star's third success in the race.

Kauto star ,was my favourite horse of all time. I Used to love Arkle and had other favourites. But Kauto stole my heart ❤ xxx

Haydock used to have big fences with drops on the landing side siimilar to Aintree now is lookes like an extended park fence chase!

Yes he was followed him from a great 2 miler until he fell in the queen mother champion chase had £500 on him that day but he paid me back with so much the following years on until his retirement. And best 3 mile champion chase horse I've seen since watching horse racing since 1995 but i will say this that denman was a true machine but sad that heart problems never let him show that destructive force he really was for more then one season.

The photo finish seemed to suggest that Imperial Commander just edged it. Whatever the result this was one of the all time great chases.

Arkle flyingbolt and sprinter sacre were higher rated than him

@@robertdelacy3434 Sprinter Sacre came years later. In the same season Kauto Star won his first Gold Cup, he also destroyed Champion Chaser Voy Por Ustedes by 7 lengths on the bridle in the Tingle Creek. Sprinter Sacre would have been lapped in a Gold Cup.

Kauto Star winning that just by a nose look at the angle of finishing line he got lonley when all those lengths out in front but just managed to kick on when Ruby could feel Imperial commander catching up ..great finish by both horses and very unlucky to Imperial Commander if the finishing line was not at an angle then Kauto woulda been 2nd ..Brilliant race from a neutral fan !!
