Once again, we review a world whisky, and an award-winning one at that. The Kavalan Vinho Barrique is yet another headline-making single malt that opened the world's eyes to the fact that other countries are making great whisky, including single malts. Here I give my opinions of this particular young brand from the King Car Distillery.

I really love these videos. Very informative, especially regarding the history of the companies and the regions and so on. It's nice to hear about these drinks that are firmly out of my price range and I've been using these videos to help learn more for where I work (I don't know whiskey well at all). The relaxing and clear vibe definitely helps as well. Is there anywhere you suggest looking for information on how to get into a larger world of whiskey, be it where to start or quality whiskeys on a lower price scale? Many of them seem to require some sort of investment. Are miniatures a good place to begin?

+flicky Thanks very much for the support and kind words! The world of whiskey is quite large, but to learn more on a budget, you're best to start with miniatures and tasting at bars. Obviously you'll need to find bars with wide selections, but they're becoming more an more popular. Also, keep an eye out for local tasting events. You can also join clubs (or start your own!). Plus, there are a few online retailers that sell samples, such as Master of Malt. Good luck!

W09022003 = Wine (?) - 2009/02/22 cask 030 (on that day). The date it was put in a cask. You can use this with the info: 2014/03/31 to state the age of the bottle.
