My buddy Scott acquired this cool organ from the 1980s by the Japanese company Kawai. They have a fascinating history and have been a well-known brand for pianos, organs, and even synthesizers. Be sure to check out the neat multi-track recording at 4:39

Oh my god ! i've got exactly the same organ. I used it when I was a kid (for 10 years). So much memories !!!!!

Nice Cumbia arragenment, man! I recently bought a Kawai Organ from my father in law, who just got rid of it because he could afford a second hand Hammond Organ with the Leslie system sound. Anyway, i've found lot of fun playing around with it. I'm a drummer actually, but as you, i find pretty enjoying learning and developing different skills by playing all sorts of instruments. Greetings from México!

Hi there Francisco! Thank you for the comment my friend! I'm glad you enjoyed the little arrangement lol!! I love finding anything to make noise with and making a tune. I WISH I had enough space for some drums :-) And perhaps a soundproof room! There's nothing quite like real drums in a recording. I'd also LOVE to have a Hammond Organ with the Leslie system. That sound is just perfect. Thanks so much for watching! ¡Viva México!

This organ had a big speaker and amps. So they have a great sound.

I got one of these not two days ago. It had been curbed for trash day, directly across the street. I have no idea if it works yet; I was too busy stripping the damaged cabinet of as much particle board as possible. I would like to rebuild the top with actual wood and turn it into a tabletop unit. It will be neat to see what this unit can do.

I recently bought one of these at a Thrift Store for about $20 (usd). Although it was in a little less than optimal condition, but I've been working on repairing and actually remaking the furniture of it too. I don't know if you've looked into your organ much more, but there are, or at least should be schematics inside.

thas dope my sister just got me a electrone by yamaha that opens up like a garage from facebook marketplace for my birthday and this thing is just so much fun Ill get lost in it just being creative all day and super fun it looks like Im sitting at the console for a startrack fighter plane or something all the lights and I haven't even scratched the surface yet its so much going on. its got a drum machine thing, not one, not two, but three keyboards two for the hands and one for the feet and a knee thingy for pitch bending and the volume accelerator has a secret kick pedal thing too and theres a bunch of drum beats and buttons, knobs and switches to mess around all day and explore my creativity.

I've seen one of those few years back. It cost 18000 rubles which translated to 500$ in rates back then. I think it didn't sell, so owner pulled it from the used musical instruments store.

my first impression was "wow! is it a tonewheel organ?" but nope, it's 8-bit sound. I was wondering can it be hacked into a midi keyboard for software tonewheel organs, but i guess it is too much work and it doesn't have drawbars

That would be a rad project! Now you're making me want to take this thing a part and look inside. Ever since I saw that guy from like 8 years ago use an organ as a chip-tune maker, I've wanted to get my hands on one! Perhaps a future project :-) Interesting to hear it cost $500 all those years ago. I have no idea what they would have cost brand new!

Reminds me of '80s Doctor Who. Keeper of Traken (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bAKHb0JImNo.html), Leisure Hive, Castrovalva. Love it. :)

Hi pal, I would to assemble a combo organ using 2 m audio 61 which have 9 faders to control the drawbars. Is a raspberry a valid substitution to a pc, as standalone module to generate the sounds of most famous organs? You seem very good at programming the pi, can u give me some advice to where i should start to study to create such a thing Thank u

Hey there Capitano! Man that sounds like an AWESOME idea. Most certainly you can accomplish that. There's probably a few ways to go about this... There's a really cool project you can find on Google called "Box of Stops" which is a whole suite of software dedicated to the Pi for generating Organ sounds.. You should TOTALLY check that out because it looks awesome.. Or, you can certainly use software like SunVox too, although that's more for the type of person that wants to synthesize their own organ sounds using the combination of different waveforms and filter settings.. Either way, you definitely have some options!! Check out Box of Stops first, and if it doesn't seem good, then we can explore the SunVox route, or VST plugins, and all sorts of stuff. Thanks for the comment!

Hey Marky! Any idea how to record this organ. I just got one and was wondering if you can hook it up to an audio interface. I'm gonna try to later to see what happens.

Hey Ethan!! There should be a line output jack on the front of the thing i believe! It's a single RCA-style phono plug. Check on the right side in the front. I think it's slightly underneath the keyboard. I used a phono cable and a 1/4" adapter then was good to go!! Sure has a really cool sound!! I hope you enjoy yours. Let me know if you end up recording some stuff! Would love to hear it in action. Thank you!
