I had this when I was two. I’m 34 now. My parents, sister and family went through so much. What my mom remembered was having our carpets cleaned. She’s trying to find out what happened. I was fortunate to have Dr Kawasaki as my doctor. I hope they find the cause. My mom has been more careful with me since and still has my heart checked at least once a year but I’m okay.

Our 5 year old girl had this. IVIG really didn't do much. Doctors tried remicade some 24 hours later and that REALLY seemed to put her on the path to recovery.

My son was a blond hair blue eyed boy. He had KD just as he turned 5 years old. In fact he was in the hospital on his 5th birthday which also happed to be Christmas Eve. He was treated with IVIG and after spending the night at the hospital we went home. As soon as we walked in the door he started vomiting. After we laid down and he started to say he had a headache and his fever started to spike just as I thought he should be getting better. He was ultra sensitive to light. After calling the hospital they told me to bring him back which was one and a half hour away and the winter weather was particularly bad that evening. After looking at his spinal fluid they determined he had aseptic meningitis. He stayed another week and fully recovered. I don’t have to tell any parent who has had a child with KD how scary it is and I had never heard of it at the time. The additional diagnosis of meningitis was scary on top of what we had already went through. It was caused by the ivig. It is a blood product so it can happen but it is very rare. I would still have him treated this way. But just in case any other parent runs into this issue, ask your doctor to check for meningitis. It likely won’t be the first thing they thing of. Luckily both my family doctor had done his college thesis on KD and knew what it was when he saw my son. Our hospital physician had never seen a child that got meningitis from ivig but had read it had happened 5 times around the world with other children treated for KD with ivig and ordered the required testing. I was extrodinarily lucky, especially at that time. This was 35 years ago now and I still remember like it was yesterday. They are still treating patients the same way. Just thought it would be good to know.

imakeup4ever I hope everything went well, I myself had this when I was 16, which was exactly one year ago, I hope the recovery will go faster than my does, even if I don’t have severe complications after, I will still attain hospital visits and sit on medication for 3 years at least, well, that’s what my doctor told me

My friend had it when he was young. It was so bad his organs started shutting down. How likely is the possibility for an adult male having children? In the video it said women were high risk, what does it do to the males sperm count/ fertility?
