That plane is completely symmetrical. Vogt must have been having an off-day.

The co-designer, Richard Vogt, was an employee of Dornier which had a co-manufacturing agreement with Kawasaki. He later worked for Blohm+Voss, designing many of their major WW2 projects including the BV-141 assymetrical reconnaisance aircraft and the giant BV-238 flying boat. He was clearly a function over form designer.

Yet another episode that helped understand how much choice of engine makes or breaks an aircraft design.

I’d love to see you do a video on the Kawasaki Ki-61 Hien. It’s a truly unique aircraft, with a unique history, being the only single-engine Japanese fighter to use an inline engine, rather than a radial one. Plus, it’s one of the slickest looking fighters of the war, hands down.

Talking about Japanese, might I suggest using Miyazakis "The Wind Rises" as the base of some future episodes, maybe some technical and historical background for the movie? Copyrights might be an issue but just using screenshots should be fine.
