Kawasaki KX500 Power Wheelie Run 

Growing up the best dirt bike rider around was a kid named Fat Mike. His dad got him a kx500 as a graduation gift, omfg bro the power. Fat Mike used to snatch that bike around like it was a 125, I asked if I could take it for a spin. Every gear the bike kept pulling, it's only dirt bike I've ever been actually afraid to open up. Just a monster of a bike. Great bike & great video bro

This brings back memories. Had a 500 during the 90s, still riding an '18 300 XC today. Lived in SoCal at the time and used to ride and race my 500 out at Lucerne and Johnson Valley in District 37. While it was not what one would call a nimble or remotely civilized bike, the 500 in 3rd gear was effective at climbing long gnarly hills out in the desert that tended to stop lesser bikes halfway up. 500cc two strokes are good when geared up and ridden in open terrain and thrive on having a big load put on them. When you put a big load on a 500 2T, deep into the throttle and on the pipe on a power sucking steep gnarly sand hill, steering with the rear cuz the front end is aloft, you commune with the Moto God because under those conditions something resembling full use of a 500's ridiculous power output is realized. The KX ruled the Western Dez racing scene during it's 90's heyday. While ruling the Dez, the rider's vision is probably blurred a bit too, not just from speed, but from the engine's vibration. 500s also grunt at low RPM and are actually pretty good in slow going, unless ya stall them, then kicking them in a tricky spot sucks badly. I do love my modern 300's e-start. To be honest, the modern 450cc MX bikes are even more insane than the old 500s on the power front, their hook up and hard hitting "braap factor" and much higher revving pull are too much for us mortal riders. Be that as it may, we love 500s as the smoking, vibrating loud two strokes are just so darn primal, and we love them for what they represent - 500s are a rolling moto finger flip In our current "PC" sanitized for our protection ass gasket world. I remember those 500 riding times fondly cuz I was young and dumb back then. I would love to take a spin for old time's sake but have no interest in ever owning a 500 again because I know exactly what that evil thing is 😂

That front fender looks so much better than the crap today.

The 1990 KX 500 I rode had excellent power characteristics! Handling was meager but rideable.

I've been a 2 stroke guy for 40+ year's and you gotta keep those things up on the rpms or fowl the plug.that thing is a beast to ride,sure wish I had one, nice vid.

Not kawasaki related but i had a 1981 rm-125 and a 1981 rm-250 at the same time , For some reason the rm-125 would run circles around the 250 and it didnt have any problems , Good vid on your 500 its a beast !

Disappointing, first half the plug was on the verge of fouling and the second was riding around doing little wheelies like I used to do when first learning how to ride, sweet bike but nothing impressive
