Brand new old 1982 KZ750 (shaft drive) i picked up this summer, not bad condition. Homemade baffle in the exhaust, 4 into 1 headers goes like stink! Its a 450 pound beast going all out! haha
These have outstanding, time-tested transmissions. Run it up in any gear, put upward pressure on the shiftier, and then just quickly blip the clutch lever and let it slip of the finger tips and you're in the next gear - no backing off of the throttle required.
I was 11 years when my father bought a 1981 Kawasaki KZ750. I was the only 11 year old boy that I knew that could ride it. Best time of my life. Thank you for this video and bringing back lots of memories.
What a beast, I had an 82 gpz750 back in the day.. this so makes me think of mine. It was my first inline 4 "speedbike". I still remember thinking I was going to fall off on that first test drive...
Thank you for posting this legend that revolutionized the street bike industry for America. Everyone still till this day craves that 4 into 1 pipe sound.....my 74 year grandfather loves these bikes more than his Gold Wing. Kawasaki did everyone a favor with this awesome gem !
I was 25 years old when I bought my first bike in 1982 - a KZ750 light blue metalflake - I put 75,000 miles on that bike in 4 years . Completely wore it out - the seat was the first thing to go ... I don't know if you remember this tidbit - do you know what happens when you over rev those bikes ? The ignition shuts down - no more spark - you cannot crank it until and unless you remove a spark plug wire and ground it to the engine block or frame . Then it is good to go ... I still remember the day I rode that bike off the lot ... I loved that bike ... Oh yeah, I originally forgot to add this part - The starter went out sometime during the second year - but I never got it fixed because the bike was so easy to start - even when cold and using the manual choke - I could push the bike while sitting on it and pop the clutch in second gear and it would start every time . Fast forward to 2019 - I got a Kawasaki Z900 . I love it even more than that 750 . It is only about 30 pounds heavier and more than double the horsepower and it rides and handles much more smoothly though . I liked the 2019 so much - I bought another one as soon as the 2020 models came out . So now I have a red and black and a blue and grey . The 2019 only has ABS - the 2020 has 2 power modes and 4 traction modes along with ABS ...
Love it ! In 1981 I rode a KZ 750... beautiful bike! In fourth gear at full throttle you felt the rear tire "squeaking"! It reached 205 km/h (9600 rpm) 🤪
A lot of people are unaware that these "Spectre" cruisers (550/750/1100) had slightly detuned GPZ engines in them, every part of the motor was GPZ spec except the cams were ground differently to give more midrange power. You can see on the tach that the red line is 10K RPM - What kind of cruiser has that shift limit? Hardly any. Great bikes and shockingly fast for what they were.
i was 25 when i bought a brand new kz 750 1982 - i put 75 k miles on it - from the test drive to the end - i loved that bike - it was chain drive though - it had a light blue / silver paint that i cannot find a picture like it anywhere - - funny the 2019 z900 is only about 9 pounds heavier with 50 more horsepower ... i am thinking about getting one - it has been 10 years since i had a bike - the last one was a 1984 kaw 550 ltd - it was only about 20 pounds lighter than the 750
Nice, i got mine up to around 120 mph but thats like at the redline and at that speed its kinda scary on a bike like this. Also with no windscreen or anything you feel like your going to get ripped right off it if you stick your head up, but yes, very fun bike
Several times i put 135mph on the clock on my Z750E, thats got to have been a good 125mph. It was just as fast 0 to 60 as my Z1R, went round corners a lot better as well :)
esa moto es una bestia!!!! Es de las mas linda de la historia!!! Excelente modelo de transcison!!! Transcison model!!!!! Eso esta enfierrado o realmente suena asi con un escape y nada mas??? Muchas gracias Tank you
No, This is a black (Painted, not stock) 1982 Kawasaki KZ750 Spectre, I have one and it has all the same components as this one. The Z is a little different. Plus it says Spectre on the side faring at the beginning of the video.

I am currently restoring an 81' KZ750E2 Chain Driven... What did you have to do as far as restoration goes to make this bad boy run so great? Just curious because I am not sure if I want to bore it out and re-jet with individual pod filters and all that or just bring it back to stock. Thank You! Also, KDO3889 really bro? Get a clue man these bikes are legends, they are responsible for the modern day sportbike.
well not really, i started it up this season and its sputers a bit under 2000rpm when i floor it but im not sure what it is it might just be running lean
Watching the second guy hammer on the throttle after every shift too lol hope you were being sarcastic cuz you should be able to power shift a KZ they are really smooth shifting bike so just hold it a wfo and shift don't let off the gas
