400 owner with 4000 miles on the clock here. You can absolutely pass on the highway at 70 or 80 without down shifting just fine. It won't be dramatic or have much fanfare, but if you want that, you can always pop it down a gear or two until the revs match your ego.
highly recommend the 400 to anyone..regardless of experience. I've had my 2019 brand new purchased and let me tell you...I'm not tempted to upgrade..This bike is good on the highway, after the breaking period..it got even better...very nimble, forgiving, and fun to ride.. I do my own maintenance on the bike from oil & filter change to chain adjustment, slip on exhaust ( didn't like the slip on went back to regular exhaust , but removed the silver cover..) & fender eliminator switch...also installed dark zero windshield, and tank pads...Great decision on purchasing the bike Brother...
Thanks for watching. This vid was from 2020. I loved the bike but it's sold. Picked up a pre-owned 2013 Monster 1100 EVO. I agree with you the Ninja 400 is awesome! Has plenty of power for daily use or track duty. And to become a better rider!
you're a smart guy with all the caution you exercise for a new rider. I am like you were, new and about to get first bike and will be very cautious and smart. Thanks for your input.
Good title to the video and I agree, a Ninja 400 is plenty for the freeways and capable of being a fun bike. I had a Ninja 250 2008 for 15 years (before trading in) and pushed it to its limits, which was often fun. That little bike could reach 110 mph and was capable on freeways as long as I wasn't trying to pass everyone instantly. Going up steeper hills was a challenge though, so it needed momentum to gain more mph rather than leveling out. The 400 solves that. Great fuel economy too on smaller bikes or parallel twins like the awesome Ninja 650 and Ninja 400, 300.
Appreciate your review. I’m currently looking at getting either a Ninja 400 or Ninja 650. I’ve been doing lots of research on both bikes, watching countless reviews. However, I have noticed most are by much more experienced riders, not really people who are starting out or have very little experience like myself. Thanks again for your review! Safe riding🤘🏽
Hi Chad - Thanks for the feedback and well wishes. Good luck with your search. I know it's only a video but check out this MC Commute video for the Z650, which is practically 99% the same bike as the Ninja 650. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mGP1CChKrDA.html. Also I can tell you that after owning the Ninja 400 and riding other more powerful bikes, it really comes down to what type of riding you want to do as a beginner rider? If you will be on the highway a lot I def can see where the Ninja 650's extra torque will be an asset! It's a little heavier than the Ninja 400, but the weight difference wont be felt once you are on the move. Also if you ever plan to take on a passenger, extra torque will also help there. For me, my goal was learn, do track days, and no need for passenger, thus I chose the Ninja 400. Keep me posted on what you decide either way!
Hokagé Ninja thanks. I’d be traveling on the highway frequently, which is why I’m leaning more towards the 650. The added weight and torq would be helpful.
really appreciate your video man. just bought my first bike, a 2021 ninja 4000 for right under msrp. Itll be my first time on the streets so thanks for all the advice. be safe
In Japan & Germany for instance, you have to pass a rigorous course (usually taking a couple weeks) to earn your license (4 and 2 wheelers). And even that isn't really enough to get a real feel for riding a bike. Rather the bare minimum. Be safe out there!
$5,030 out the door? You stole it my man. Probably because it was still pandemic-ish, who knows. I bought a 2020 abs with 6k miles for 4,500! Anyways, great bike. Nice power, lightweight and very user friendly. In fact, I like it so much I’ve started to contemplate keeping it instead of doing a trade in and just simply buy the 600 I want.
1000 views! Thank you!!! If you all could help me get to 1000 subscribers it would be amazing! I try not to ask in the video itself to keep the flow going. I will try to continue posting unique content with a little bit of a beginner rider point of view.
So many good things in this video! First off, I love the honesty and I love that you didn't shit on the R3 or other bikes from other manufacturers. I live in MD btw and totally understand the riding seasons! Great overall insight on the bike. I love the perspective from a true beginner. I've test ridden this bike and think I'm going to grab it used. I've had a triumph street scrambler, GSXR750, and a TU250x as my first bike. The ninja is the best of the bunch! Its a bike you can easily keep for a lifetime! Put some more miles on that thing! Also, what frame sliders did you get and how do you like your arai helmet? Love the look of your windscreen too!
Hi Rob, thx for the kind words! Love the Arai and while many helmets are prob great, I feel confident and comfortable in the Quantum-X. I have since upgraded the visor to the dual visor with the sun blocker on the outside. "Proshield" i have put more miles but need more. Agreed the ninja400 is a great bike for many tasks. Commuting, medium distance, track, beginner, expert. Etc. Btw the windscreen is zerogravity double bubble. Be safe 🤙
My beginner bike was a kawasaki ninja zzr600 I hear alot of folks say dont start on one but aye I just had too I liked the bike and I wanted tha smoke and did pretty good so far.
Bike looks dope bro.....take as much time as you need to get comfortable with the bike on the road. I'm a semi-beginner rider, but first time bike owner, i was gonna get the 2020 Ninja 400 KRT Edition.....but i didn't want to pull $5255 💵 from my savings, so i settled for a 2017 Hyosung GD250R for $2900. Great learner bike to get the KEY 👈 Fundamentals of riding a bike on the streets & highway...1. Aware of traffic, 2. Control of the bike & 3. Learning the gears. Been owning it about 2 weeks now and got 107 miles on it, bought it brand new with 5 miles, looking to sell or trade it in to get the 400. But i just came across the 2021 Ninja 400 KRT Edition, so i think i'll wait until they are available. REMEMBER..." SAFETY STARTS & ENDS WITH YOU 👈, RIDE DEFENSIVELY, LOOK ALIVE AND KEEP YOUR HEAD ON A SWIVEL !!! " 🏍💨✌
I love your perspective. The GD250r sounds like a great way to get comfortable on two wheels! Let me know if you have questions regarding the Ninja400. And also let me know if you post vids and I will return the favor
I'll always say it as being a car guy first, if your car/bike can hit 100km/60mph in low 4s you're faster then majority of production vehicles, of course high end speed would suffer but the ninja is more then enough for the streets
Middleweight bikes have always been my preference and none better in this day and age then the Ninja 400 which can do 0-60(with a skilled rider)or 0 to 100 k faster than the legendary 2 stroke Yamaha RD 400.Stats given:Ninja 400 4.14 seconds RD 400 5.5 seconds Top speed Ninja 116 MPH Top Speed RD 400 109 MPH.
You are in love with your bike and that is ok but should read more about other motocycle brands before saying they are garbage. The Suzuki GN125F have been fabricated since 1981 and it is one of the most reliable motocycle under the 125cc; its an excelent choice for beginners; of course Suzuki has more options with bigger machines. Congratulations for your great bike; enjoy it.
Amazing! I'm about to buy one and this video helped me a lot. I already have a Honda PCX and was afraid to "jump" directly to a 400cc. Cheers from Brazil!
Install crofty’s short pipes. The sound is a blast. Not sure how you got for 5k. Msrp is around 5300 and they won’t go down at all in mass. It’s $5700 OTD here
I got over yr ago. The dealer i bought had 20 ninja 400 in crates. Had to start selling em. But now with covid, there is high demand and less inventory. I was looking at Arrow but want to get a few other mods 1st
I dont know what happened with the pricing on these bikes in the last 12 months but now these bikes start at $5000 for non-abs and $5400 for abs plus tax and dealers fees you'll see $$6500-7k+ out the door. Not sure if it's still worth it or if I should just spring for a 650 or 600.
When I bought the bike it was pre covid and i was able to negotiate off the sticker price down to $3,899 before fees and taxes on a brand new ABS model. I post a screenshot of my sales order here. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AGfwKgv0iC4.html. Now with covid, motorcycles are harder to get and dealers are rarely giving any discounts. Even used ninja 400 are close to new prices.7k out the door with no discount sounds right with fees and taxes.
Yep you're spot on. Just paid $6,200 out the door for a 2022 Z400 ABS. No regrets still. First bike, freaking love it. And with gas being $5.04 a gallon for premium for GP GXP the bike will save me some money on gas as well.
Hi Battlefox. I highly recommend the Ninja400 over the R3. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RqTDYH3NXPY.html. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-liaDIr2S0iA.html
Thanks for watching and I appreciate the👍. Please don't forget to subscribe as I will have more motovlog content coming soon. Let me know if you have questions about getting your motorcycle license or 1st bike or anything in general covered in the video.
I got an OTD price quote on A z400 for 6900 in NJ. how did you get it a ninja for that price that is a steal, i Would go buy one right now if they quoted me that much
I def got a great deal. At the time the Ninja 400 just came out and the dealer I bought from had 20 of them in warehouse. So they were trying to move them quick. Keep in mind after taxes, fees, etc i was OTD at $5,026
Hi Kevin. Check out this forum. Lots of folks shared their OTD price. www.ninja400riders.com/threads/your-otd-price.1003/ As you know it will vary by city and time of yr. My price also includes $500 kawi cash which they gave out to anyone from the demo ride day. I am not military so I couldn't get that discount. Thanks for the comment 🤘
I'm on the fence with the ninja 400 or 650 but the 400 looks really cool, I used to ride a 2014 Harley 883, but the Ninja 400 definitely got my attention and would love it for driving to work and doing my photography
Hi Malika thanks for watching my channel. I would like to point you to this video as a general guide. I am 5'8 and can easily flat foot. But at 5 feet it might be a challenge to flat foot any ninja. But if you are experienced you may be fine with 1 leg down and 1 leg on pegs. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KBAmQZBb57E.html
@@MattieXMoto Hi, thank you so much for replying. It is very much appreciated! If you wouldn't mind me asking another question, would the 2021 Yamaha MT-10 be alright for beginner riders? I am about 5 feet and an inch
Malika Som Inseam length is as important as your height. You can be 5'1" and have longer legs than someone 5'2" or 5'3". ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fcdRKoDzrdU.html You've prolly seen this video already but if not it could be confidence inspiring. Yamaha MT-10 would not be a good beginner bike. MT-10=handful.
