The 2024 Kawasaki Ninja 650 is coming. Is it worth waiting for, or will you be just as happy with a 2023 model? That's what I try to help you decide in this video! Want to see this bike in person? Connect with the amazing team at Jim Gilbert's PowerSports here: powersports.wheelsanddeals.ca...
Correction: The 2024 Ninja 650 does appear to be a carry-over model without new body work, just new colours.

Correction: I've updated the description of this video. Initially I was informed that the 2024 Ninja 650 would have revised styling, but after reviewing what we can see online, it doesn't appear to be anything more than new colour schemes for 2024.

@@entername3840 Yeah, totally, like Kawasaki isn't making innovations in their bikes EVERYWHERE lately. The 650 was updated a couple years back, the 400 got a supercharged version of it, they are LITERALLY the only company that is still upgrading and progressing their 600cc classes, while Yamaha discontinued theirs, and Honda, Suzuki are offering their old 600cc models in the same colors with no changes; and Kawasaki is STILL price competitive with the older 600cc machines., even with newer updated models that Kawasaki offers.

Man. I remember going to riding school and deciding to go with the white 2023 model. And I found this channel using the color I actually wanted! Now I'm back after my first season with the white 2023 model, just finished assembling my first rear stand and now watching the channel cover the 2024 model!😁 Hello from Montreal, Canada! Cool! Great review, thanks Peter. I have the '21 Ninja 650, great styling, very comfortable and easy on the back, 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds fast, great torque in the low and midrange, flickable, agile motorcycle. The replacement tires are lower cost than my prior bike. From 4.0 gallons tank, I can get 200 miles range with a mix of riding speeds on freeways, rural roads and city. The bright, clear TFT display is helpful too. I agree that the 2023 is worth buying now, as the 2024 looks like mostly a color change, but the same cool fairing design.

Wait until 2024 and buy that dusty 2023 that no one wanted. Or even better, wait for mid winter and buy the 2023 from some guy who thought he was going to ride all the time. Instead he put 800kms on it, maybe whacked it with a 2x4 or two in the garage and his wife is telling him to sell it fast so she can get some new yoga pants and a purse.

Bingo, there are thousands of barely used bikes out there that have minor cosmetic damage that are like 50% off from the new price. When buying used, you're inspecting the driver as much as the bike itself. If the driver looks like someone that is hard on vehicles (easy to spot), move on.

650 is one of my favorite bikes to cruise around town. It will keep up with a lot of big bikes until you reach triple digits and doesnt get extremely hot like my z1000. Older models are just as nice, i love the 06-09 models. Engine is solid as a rock, i just recommend upgrading the pipe because the stock kinda sounds like a muffled fart.

Peter is the 2024 Ninja 650 KRT ABS better than the new Suzuki GSX8r for a returning rider after 20 years. First bike was a Honda CB450 which I rode with no problem. If there is a more expensive one, with better features, please recommend as well. Thanks!!! Love your videos!!!
@PeterLoweOne
@PeterLoweOne 3 месяца назад
Better is such a relative term. On a spec sheet, the GSX will have "better" radial mounted brakes, but to the average rider, if you could ride both bikes blindfolded, would you notice a difference? I always tell people to go for a walk in their neighbourhood and look at who drives the "best vehicle" Whether it's MotorTrend, or Car and Driver, or Consumer Reports, all those companies who label one vehicle as the best over other vehicles, we don't see people ONLY buying what THEY say is the best. So choosing the best bike for you is about doing just that. Choosing what works for you. Every motorcycle is a compromise and you'll have to decide to NOT have certain features no matter which motorcycle that you choose. I'd sit on them both, look at the features and try to decide what matters to you. You really can't go wrong with either bike. The Ninja has been around for a while and the press has lost it's infatuation with it because they always like the newest shiny toy, but both will bring years of happiness if they fit your needs.

So as a new rider to be, and will only be using the bike as a toy on nice days do i get the 650 or the 400?
@PeterLoweOne
@PeterLoweOne 10 месяцев назад
There's no simple answer to that question. I like recommending the 400 to new riders most often. I think it's a little better to learn on, a little cheaper to insure, and still plenty of fun. The 650 does have a little more speed and if you're confident that the riding style, and features of that bike are all in line with something that you'll enjoy for decades, the case can be made to go for the 650 as there's little reason to move on from that bike. You can't go wrong with either.

So, I'm looking to buy my first ever sport bike, what do you recommend, ninja 400 or this 650, overall? I'm 1.75cm 90kg, looking to travel over 300 kilometers once i get used to the bike
@PeterLoweOne
@PeterLoweOne 10 месяцев назад
Honestly, I recommend that you try to see them both for yourself. I would happily recommend either of those to a newer rider. My gut feeling is that the 650 might be a little better for 300 kilometer trips, but if you're like me, you may only do a trip like that a few times and the majority of your riding would be fitting the time in around your real life schedule. The 400 is an absolute blast, so don't rule it out.

so why would you recommend the 400 to a beginner, if there are actually riding position differences, comfort, ROOM and so on? I heard the 400 is much more aggressive, similar to super sport bikes, which this isn't. The 400 is a baby 600, not a baby 650. I would say the 400 and the 650 are completely different and you wouldn't choose one or the other from a power standpoint alone.
