Just picked up a 2005 zx6r because my 2011 zx6r took a dump on me but let me tell you how correct you are when you said you didn't think any other bikes battery would be set up like that, they are not,I've never seen this on a sports bike ever, its so ridiculous it makes zero sense.
Thanks but damn these engineers need to get their ass kicked for designing it this way, my Honda cbr was under the seat and you just pulled it out and install the new, 10 minute job
Thanks for the tutorial. I have changed my battery today. I did not remove the fuel tank in total. It was absolutely sufficient to lift the fuel tank by a third hand. I could easy replace the battery.
Glad my video could help in some way. I've heard from a couple people stating they were able to make the swap without pulling the entire tank. I just went by the manual, and I also had a few other things to replace under the tank so I needed to take it off anyways. Thanks for watching!
Hey man can you please let me know what type of battery it is? Every video I’ve found just shows how to change it they don’t show what type of battery it is
Thank you for the tutorial! Do you think it could be possible to remove the battery by lifting the bar holding it together with the tank (of course with the other three screws holding the tank removed)? Also don't be afraid of the battery. 12V is not enough to fry you, even if you had wet hands. Ever held a 9V block to your tongue? That's all there is (well, 1/3rd worse). You should coat the terminals and screws with terminal grease, though. One mistake I made in the past was to disconnect the negative terminal during winter to "protect the battery". Don't do this. Leaving the negative terminal connected protects your bike from corrosion.
It's certainly possible to go that route I've just never tried that. I know I shouldn't be too freaked out by doing electrical work it just always give me the jitters haha.
Well, I tried. It is possible to remove the battery by just lifting the bar, but it is impossible to put it back in that way. Now let's hope that the battery isn't dead again tomorrow..
having an electrical issue with my 06 zx6r, battery will not read 13V like is should, it reads 12.5, brand new stator, rectifier, and battery... any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
hi bro thank you so much for the video this is something im really gonna nee this week. May i ask what the bolts are called for the gas tank ?? Previous owner also stripped these bolts medium well so i want to prevent and order new ones like you did. Thanks logan you a bike saver bro
The harness you disconnected under the gas tank obviously goes to the fuel pump...however...I burnt through the black wire on the bike side of the harness...any clue if this is just the ground wire?
Fason joster I’ll be honest I don’t know much about wiring. I think the factory service manual has a wiring diagram for it though if you want to check there.
hey bro do you know if 08 zx6r is a similar setup under tank? I don't have this bracket across my battery .. and I have two bolts at the bottom of the tank instead of one on top. So before I even get far in and get stuck I just want to make sure if you think the process after lifting the tank would be similar?
I just googled around for the service manual on your bike. It looks like yours is a lot easier than mine. Remove the side covers and front seat, disconnect the negative then the positive leads (in that order), and remove the big rubber band holding the battery in place. That's it!
Thanks man! Subbed. Although i'm 08 i hope to learn from you. I want to start working on my own bike instead of alawys bring to the shop lol. Ride safe!
Happy to help and thanks for subbing! I am not a mechanic by any means, but I enjoying learning how to do vehicle work myself. The basic function of most work is the same for all bikes it's just the ways to get to them are different. I highly advise you find the factory service manual for your bike. I found it after a short google search for "2008 kawasaki ninja zx6r service manual". These are a life saver and you can learn a lot about the functions of your machine. Happy wrenching and ride safe!
Valon Sylaj definitely! My tank was at least half full when I did this. You’ll lose a little gas when you first disconnect but the connectors should hold back most loss in the lines.
@@2WheeledLogan make me bitch like I said, if your going to teach go from start to finish everybody don’t know how to do simple task if there just getting into it.
Came here just to tell you how useless this video was, I just wanted to see how the seat came listen to snack your gums about your garage only for you to skip that part..... ffs
