I fully agree. I think it is because he seems to be one of the few riders who post on youtube that actually understand the concept of staying out wide and cutting in once you can see through the corner/see your exit, i.e., the way you are supposed to take corners. So many riders hug the inside line and then are forced out wide as they accelerate, makes me nervous as hell, especially when they are pushing it. Haha.
I listened to this multiple times, I went and bought the bike as well. And I can say I did not go wrong. What buttery smoothness and the sound is pure music to the ears. Now I cannot live without this bike! Thanks for making this video
@@ramonschliszka6332 Yamaha too, but some of the the higher end Yamaha inline 4 are crossplane. Crossplanes sound a bit more.... rough. Aggressive. Compared to the "normal" cranks from the other manufacturers. Just my personal opinion.
I’ve had this bike for a bit more than a year now, originally I wanted a multistrada but I felt like the inline 4 of the kawi was waaaay more usable at lower speeds, the lack of top end power is nothing a good remap can’t fix 😇 and frankly this big chonker will surprise a lot of sport / naked bike riders in the twisties ! Yes it lacks a bit of ground clearance, but the power is so linear and usable 😍 Thank you for this beautiful video Schaaf
As a Versys owner, I have to totally agree with you, it is heavy but surprisingly agile. The engine is smooth, power delivery is great, although it could use a little more top end power, it doesn't need it but it could be fun. I've had my bike for 2 years now, it's a 2015, so no electronic suspension or quick shifter. I've ridden lots of bikes and I have to say, there's something about the Versys that makes me love it. My brother has a multistrada 1200S GT and no problem keeping up with him, sure he will smoke me in a drag race but not by much. The riding position is comfortable, although the 2015's windscreen is crap, and the seat after some time riding can hurt your butt. Best of all is the Kawasaki reliability. Have had several upright bikes. When I tried this one I got it. The engine is so good and sounds great at any speed with stock pipe. The handling is fantastic. Best all-around road bike I’ve ever had. Doesn’t need more power because it gets a little squirrelly around 160kph (without luggage), especially if there’s any wind. That’s fine because I have no need to go that fast on public roads. It cruises steadily at 130kph just fine, which is all I need in the US.
You have one of the coolest moto RU-vid channels. I think I’ll end up watching all of your rides. Just great to get into the ride and hear the engine. 😎👍👏
I think that it’snt necessary to push that hard in second gear to ride fast with that engine between corners. In third gear the motorbike has enough torque to maintain the speed. At the end near to rev limit the engine has a lack of power in terms of horsepower and torque. But is also true that this driving style improves the “show” and make the footage more “emotional”. I used to have the first gen Versys. Excellent all rounder. It lacked a bit of brakes and was clearly a very heavy bike. The comfort was awesome though. I should try the new SE someday to see how it compares to my 1290 GT. Great video as always !

Gidday, don't always comment, but like your videos and awesome job on this one. Haven't seen anyone ride this bike like you have done and bloody cool man. People tend to go for The real Deal KTM 1290 and Multistrada for horse power , but this bike as you have ridden will change a few minds. Ride Safe Cheers paul
@@Schaaf I would still be interested in the shift at X - ADV, how DCT knows when to downshift, sometimes it gives 2x intermediate throttle, sometimes 1x, sometimes downshift at 4000rpm, sometimes already at 5000rpm, is that weird?
I had a '15. No quick shifter, but I'm familiar with the noise. Put almost 57k miles on it. Was a great mountain mile muncher. I really liked the tune of the engine. Had a lot of low end and built power very linearly. I demo'd a Triumph 1200 at one point and was surprised how docile it felt on the low end by comparison. Almost dropped the damn thing trying to get it to move.

Nice to hear a standard exhaust note for a change. I want one of those bikes for my next one. Stepping from a KLR650, to the 1000 will be awesome, with that comfortable upright position. Nice video my man 👍

I just blew my engine on my 650😭, this is by far my favourite bike so far to take for a spin and have fun without thinking if I will come back in one piece back home. I own in past quite few bikes from sports to tourer but this one always puts smile on my face any time I ride this machine ( of course not now because engine is f...d)
Totally agree with what you say. My bike has now 21.000km, in 2 years. Only problem i have with it it s the way you feel the weight at really low speeds. It gets quite heavy and difficult cu handle it at parking lot speeds. Test rode the gs, the 2021 sas, and i wait for the new tiger 1200-i think this will be my next bike..
The looks from the front are really good but from the side.. yeah its quite "challenging". Still I am sure for traveling with its weight and 4 cylinder engine plus the huge windscreen you can definitely enjoy a long trip.

I still prefer the Versys 650. It's lighter, and more agile. It gets better fuel mileage. It's also safer. because it can stop faster than a Versys 1000.
Tolles Video ... Paaaaaßt ... Warum vor solchen Kurven immer wieder in den 1 Gang ? Ist mit der 1000 er gar nicht Notwendig ... Genug Drehmoment und Kraft ist Vorhanden um das alles auch im 2 Gang zu fahren ... Das Motorrad ist dann auch ruhiger ... Grüsse aus Wien 🍻👌
I've got one, too. I love this bike. I only wish I could ride it like you do. Fantastic riding skills as always. The perfect line at such high speeds! I found it kind of funny that most of the time the rev counter was pixelated but not the speedometer :-).
What an awesome vídeo. I'm subscribing to see more. I just bought my 1st bike which is a '14 DL650 V Strom. Absolutely loving it but already wishing I had bought a 1000. Where is this road at? Hardly any other traffic and no busy side streets or driveways. Just looks like an all-around fun road. There is nothing like that near me.
Covering up the wrong dial Just noticed it's on purpose. I wonder why you would have to cover the RPMs and not the speedometer. Any kind of warranty policy?
Rookie question. I just crossed the 1000 mile mark on my 22 Versys 1000. And I am sure this is just my rookie ears. I notice over 40MPH, it makes a sound almost like a car’s power steering pump makes when it is low on fluid. Very similar sound. Most noticeable when you get it up to speed, like 60ish for example and I apply the clutch and let it coast. This sound is higher pitched at higher speeds and winds down to lower pitch as the speed decelerates to below 40 and it goes away. Just a whiny sound. This only started happening after the 1000 miles mark. I run Motul 10w40 oil FYI, in case oil type is a player. The local Kawasaki dealer says it is called gear “pitch” and not to worry about it. Anyway, amazing video you made. Great sounds of the 4 cyl. beast. Please reply at your leisure. Thanks.
Agreed, I like everything about this bike but the looks and yet like a few bikes I don't like the look of I also know they are solid bikes that will do everything you would want a bike to do but if I was just looking for a workhorse then I would buy this no problem
Really pushing it by not shifting gears to more than 2 or 3 🤪 But sounds really nice. (I’m just listening to this because I miss mine. Hope to be able to get it out as soon as this semi-winter ends).
