These two bikes were my shortlist. Ultimately I purchased the ZX4RR over the R7 because of two main reasons. The 4cyl screamer, and insurance costs. Im paying 1/3 insurance vs the R7. I would still love to have the R7, but i am very happy with my ZX4RR.
@@moisesojeda1085 no shit lol. 4 cylinders always have lower torque. Take a look at the r6 with a peak torque of 45 lbs ft. Don’t forgot there’s a 300 cc difference and they still have similar hp lmao. Kawi still the more exciting bike hands down
If the Yamaha had the same engine displacement then it wouldn't even come close to the Kawasaki. Having an inline four takes me right back to when I was in my twenties and the Jap 400cc bikes was excellent. there's too many parallel bikes out, it's refreshing.
If yahama had two more pistons then zx4 wouldn't come close. Whole lotta ifs and buts, the only reason we're comparing is because they make similar powers.
@@varnxxxliterally this bike is so crap it’s unbelievable. High revs? Are u joking? It revs lower than a v4r with pistons 150% smaller 😂😂🤣 and it weighs the same as an r6 while being the same cost and way less of a bike. It also revs lower than an r6. What a disappointment.
I bought the zx4rr. I’m pretty happy with it, but definitely eager for more companies to make exhaust for it so I can tune it and get rid of the North American crippling.
Bruh I recently moved to an R3 after moving away from nothing but riding and restoring early 70’s UJM twins and superbikes for 6 years and 30k miles. Changed my life. If I were to ride another bike that I could completely use most of it’s potential, it would be the ZX4RR.
Thanks Bob. For me if you aren’t going to any tracks I would go with the Yamaha, if spending time on tracks I would go with the Kawasaki. Nothing beats going around litre bikes on small displacement bikes on any track. 👍😎
I ride a r7 I am 5’1 we lowered the bike as low as possible and I can touch just not flat foot … but the ninja 4rr I think I will flat foot it’s super important to me that I flat foot for more stability control
@@dmackiii5534 Yeah I hated the looks of ninja 400 and 650, I cant believe they went for the same look for this bike. The tail on the r7 is amazing, they also went for a similar look for the tail of r125 so I hope they update the look of the tail of r3 to something similar with the rest of R series.
I’d say there’s a couple big issues for both. The RS660 exists, the ZX6R is nearly the same price, and the Ninja 400 that costs half the price is better than both of them. Also in America the GSXR750 is still sold and for not much more money. So if a track bike is what you desire. Kinda hard not to consider unless you prefer less power.
I own a R7 and a Ninja 400... When I am on the R7 I catch myself wishing I was on the Ninja 400...it's fun, and much more forgiving and a lot more comfortable...love the Ninja 400 so much it definitely punches way above its price. I just done a 2000 mile tour of Scotland on my 2018 Ninja 400 KRT riding up to 7 hrs a day... It was perfect! I don't regret buying the R7, the Anniversary Edition is so beautiful, the quality is outstanding and the torque is intoxicating... The Ninja 400 is just so good.
CP2 engine is boring in higher revs (i have one). It's good to drive in a relaxed pace around town and slower roads, but if you want real fun on twisties or track, you need a screamer like the Kawasaki.
@@moisesojeda1085 True. The R7 might have lower top speed but will get there much faster, making it better in most situations. However, for the fun factor, I would go with the ZX-4RR.
Nice vid. I prefer the Kawasaki & if you want a proper sports bike it's the ZX4R & it's i4 as the R7 is a sheep in wolf's clothing. However the point is people don't really seem to want sports bikes anymore & the R7 is going to be a more practical & useable bike for everyday use you would think.
The R7 might not read as high. And that's because it's a cross plane crank like a standard V8. But I like the sound of it even better than the zx4r. I love the sound of a Yamaha r1m. Because it sounds like a V8 hot rod / muscle car. And I love that sound no other bike sounds like a Yamaha. And Yamaha basically did like Harley that got their own distinct sound
So excited Kawasaki made a true screamer, so happy I have a R7 in my garage. To be fair I have a Ninja 400 in my garage as well. Yamaha, Kawasaki and Triumph are my top three brands in that order :)
I ride a r7 I am 5’1 we lowered the bike as low as possible and I can touch just not flat foot … but the ninja 4rr I think I will flat foot it’s super important to me that I flat foot for more stability control
@@Susiebearz R7 = 835mm 4RR = 800mm Ninja 400 = 785 mm - For pure street use I would recommend Ninja 400... It really punches above its weight, good enough to challenge skilled riders and so much fun...it's gr at value and It's a Twisties beast. Recommend a decent full pipe, a CPU flash and decent adjustable levers...even upgrade tyres once stock is worn. Which is easy to afford as the bike is cheaper.
I’m going to sell my 2021 mt09 for a zx4rr. I went from mt10- zh2- mt09 and now I want a mini bike again. I miss being able to rev the heck out of a bike everywhere on the road and I had a absolute blast on my cbr250rr when i first started riding. This is like a 250rr on steroids.
@@QuickRipzz mt10 is more fun to ride but not by much. It feels a bit better in the corners and the top end power is a fair bit more. The 09 is much better for everyday riding though, nearly twice as good fuel economy, much more flickable at low speed and you can use more of the power more often.
@@moisesojeda1085 yes it’s a very fair point, but the zx4 is low 800mm seat heat and perfect to start teaching my wife on as well being a really lovely seating position for the road. I do love revving out lower capacity bikes on the road though, hard to do with bigger bikes without playing Russian roulette with the police, there’s a big police presence in Australia.
@@garyrayner6330 I would consider the R7 for your wife since it has almost double the torque as the 400rr. Unless your wife is going to be hitting the rev limiter to reach power. The 400rr is dead at low RPMs and needs to get high up in the revs
Their current 660 triple is equivalent to the CP2 already. They could make a sports bike based on the Trident and it would be competitive with the R7. A 450 would get crushed.
The ZX-4RR is a great track bike and city riding at low speed but not on highway, freeway speed. Because overtime the rider will feel a negative fatigue due to the bikes high revving engine. I have an R6 even then i felt uncomfortable due to fatigue. Becauseof these experiences i bought a 2008 Yamaha Yzf- R1and a 2022 Kawasaki Z900 felt happy and comfortable riding them because of big displacement and low revving.
I think the pricing comparison is abit unfair. The thing is, where else are you going to get a 400cc 4cylinder at the pricerange where you only see 2 cylinders. Good, the cbr650 would be an option, but it's also the only option for the engine and style of bike.
@@cowmath77 - The look of Kawasaki sportsbikes seem to always look "different". It would be better at least if they offered more than just their lime green. That said the Cyclops appearance of the R7 is left wanting too.
Despite its focused chassis, it gasps for air on the track. You can mod a lot of bikes to be really fun on the track, but there's just no getting around the engine and the low rev limit on the R7.
@@jamesschaffer5504 i think a or of people dont really understand when we say “race bike”, we mean how it actually performs on the track. Most riders are looking at these bikes from a street riding perspective even though i specifically said “race bike” meaning track prowess. R7 is going to run of out steam for trackdays if youre a competent trackday rider.
Disagreed. There is nothing unique about R7. Sure, in term of technical, R7 might be better, but I buy bike for its uniqueness which is the smallest inline-4.
For me its another midranger without balls. All show and no go. Where are the days of K8/K9 GSX-R 750, when you had power and grunt of almost a liter bike in a 600cc chassis??
The 4RR is going to get pummelled in US Comparisons against the R7 and 650 friends. Expecting a lot of crying about "just needs a flash", but at 70whp it still doesn't solve the issues of it being overpriced for the frame and hardware. I feel sorry for the US and Can riders that put an advanced deposit and got taken. Should have just went 6R KRT ABS.
I tried out the R7, handling was astonishing, it was really capable but thats it, the CP2 may work for the MT but not for a sports bike, absolutely boring.
The Kwak is a cool bike. But idk Why they didn't just give North America the 25r this 400 is pointless. The r7 makes more hp everywhere except the very top. And has double the torque. adjustable suspension better brakes better tires. The 500$ less can go to a exhaust and tune. The Kwak needs to be unlocked because it's factory restricted. And is half the bike any 600 ss is for not much less coin. If it's gonna be half performance of what a 600 is it should cost half. Cuz it's sure gonna be pointless on a track
@christianpaulroldan4010 I am not referring to the cylinder capacity, comparing an inline 4 to a parallel twin is odious. The Y7 competition from kawasaki is the Ninja 650, not the ZX4R.
You're the only one focused solely on the engine. They are competitive by both price and market segment of entry level sport bikes and have similar peak power numbers weight and specs. Basically everything short of engine configuration is comparable.
More cylinders, same CCs = more power. That's why they're comparable. To me the R7 is a bit of an abomination despite how good it is, but at the eod the ZX4RR is a track bike for small bike fetishists and the R7 is a road bike for Rossi larpers.
Ever since Yamaha stop r6 production I’m very disappointed with Yamaha that it come out with r7 as a replacement. I would rather go with the zx4rr 100%.
I would choose the ZX4RR, the R7 has all the show and no go. It's a sheep in Wolf's clothes. Why don't you do a comparison to a 2001 GSXR750 Dyno,Track and Street riding?...coz a 22 year old Gixer will whoop it's ass!
@@moisesojeda1085 the ZX4RR is not worthless.. MSRP says its $9699, so at a bare minimum its worth $9699. If it was worthless, they would be giving them away because they have no worth.
I don't want you guys to be jealous but in the Philippines the ZX4RR is cheaper by almost $2000 than the R7 and it's also the unrestricted version. Weeeee! 🦾👽🔥💨
