Just bought one on Wednesday (2004). In complete love 🤩. Gonna take her in for a nice service. She came with a power commander and quick shift. We are taking our time getting acquainted. Love the excitement in your voice as you ride. ZX10R's will definitely do that. Especially with a few add-ons.
John - if you don't mind me giving you a tip - the Gen1 gearboxes don't like QFs. If you are going to leave it on - keep an eye on how the box is working, and try to be sympathetic with it.
I'm about to pick up an 08 clean title no issues looks real nice all black with 19k miles for 4 grand. Hopefully will have her on Monday, so much bike for the money I can't wait
I'd just like to add - the guy in the video gave this bike virtually nothing.. I've got one of these, a 2008 and it really is a terrifying thing to ride on the road.. I've not even red lined it yet. Mine is standard aside from a full system and an air filter + straight bars (to old to use clip ons every ride) and it leaves Porsches, AMG Mercs, big BMW's in the dust without even trying even in the "wrong" gear.. The man is 100% right though (I wish I could put this in bold) IT WILL KILL YOU if you're not carefull with it. If you're young and you buy one please please repsect it.. It's a death trap!
Had my 09 ZX10R for a year now and it’s absolutely mental as you said. I hit 178mph racing a Dodge Charger the other day, he didn’t stand a chance. Cheers on the video, beastly bike friend
Own a 2005 for 7 years now, first used as a track bike. reversed the shifting. power commander. zzr 1400 brakes . 2010 zx10 radiator for better cooling. Now Installed a triple clamp to hold a super bike handle bar( had to cut some off the fairing. Put softer springs in the forks. Lowered the foot pegs. Had a 20mm higher seat made, and now use it as a touring bike. Rides like a super fast Z1000SX. 👍
I bought mine almost 2 years ago. Last bike I owned was back in the mid 90's and Jesus, things have moved on...a lot! Even at low revs, it sounds like it just wants to hunt, as the revs go up, she sings so sweetly. Still not even 12k miles on an almost 14 year old bike, it really is phenomenal.
All these good comments so here's mine. I have an '07 blue that I bought new , still looks new with 75,000 miles on it. Akrapovic carbon fiber pipes , power commander , frame sliders (not used). Funny google thinks I misspelled Akrapovic. 170 h.p. at the wheel that's at 5,000' where I live in Az. Original slipper clutch , on second set of front brakes and fourth set of rears due to peddling , keep that front wheel somewhere near the ground. I just turned 78 and my bike makes me feel like 25 again.
Picked up a 2009 with 1550miles in 2020... I wish it was the mean green but....after running my 1998 zx9r for years... Good Lord is it A very light and B...scary!!! I hope you still have it!!
@@JonnyLeeguitarist inclined to agree, the 1k miles I've put on it in the last 3 weeks have been nothing but outstanding, sans the knee stiffness ha. Getting hit by a truck will do that to ya tho
Picked up a 2019 pearl grey zx10 on fathers day and fun is a understatement lol.. Lots of power and it always attracts crowds when I go out on weekends. I love the pearl grey paint kawi decided to use for 2019.
the gen 3 is a different beast. When it came out, absolutely nothing could touch it up until the s1000rr was released and then there was some competition. I want one.
Facts and it still beats the s1k watch the shoot outs with the 4 pro riders they do a bunch of runs on an old air strip kawi beat the s1k back to back to back. I just sold my 08 and picked up an 09, almost showroom condition
@@curtisfitzsimmons377 well, 08 and 09 are the exact same bike, just new colour options. Seriously, I'm torn between the gen3 ZX-10R and the 2024 cbr1000rr-r, I really can't decide which to get.
I have been riding a ZX 14 for a few years now, around town, one gear, 2nd all the time. Just bought a KLX 250 for my winters in Baja, been riding it more than the big boy lately, so fun, up and down all six gears, comfortable, great in traffic, 60 miles a gallon, feel like a kid again. There is lot to be said about riding a slow bike fast compared to riding a fast bike slow.
I've just bought a 11,800 miles 2008 zx10r that's immaculate it looks a year old full FTR suspension it handles unbelievable and I raced a R1 big bang the zx10r would eat it alive they are amazing bikes.
I also bought a08 all black with two brothers exhaust and power command 8000 on the clock for dirt cheap and I can’t believe the guy sold it to me she’s like new condition
Had a 2005 zx10-R for a year now, had a 2nd gen fireblade and a RSV mille before it. Its a whole another world. It sure is a lot of fun, but you absolutely have to respect it 😅
I’ve just bought one, 2010 plate, ram air intake upgrade, high flow filter, decat and a lovely Akrapovic exhaust 😬 It arrives with me this week 🙋♂️👌 can not Wait buddy 👌 Your video has a part of why I got one 🙏
HI Jonny- I have finally taken delivery of my Gen 4. I was really inspired by your video for its frankness but also for leaving me super excited about my first ZX10R. Great video and thank you
I have both a 2005 ZX10R full custom and a Gen 1 ZX14R and Gen 2 ZX14R and thats really all I need and its s different ride everyday. You are correct the 14R will get you off the line but once the ZX10R winds out its a wild ride
I j e a first generation, 2005 . Ported and polished heads and intake. Titanium valve seats , and springs. E X race cam Power commander 3 , Euro ECU flash and Brock’s exhaust. Ridding on Perelli angel tires. After 3 years, this fucking thing still startles me.
I have one. 2010 special edition. Bought it brand new beginning of 2010. 11,150 miles. Garage kept. Never been on the ground. Before this bike I had 2002 r1. First year they had fuel injection. Bike was okay, but nothing compared to the green bike 👍
@@ShadowBroker000 the zx10r is better all around. Better suspension, brakes, cornering and power. 2002 r1 was not a bad bike. In fact back then it was very good. The bike manufacturers continue to improve 👍
I can ride it very comfortably. The seating position is good for me and the chassis setup can be adjusted very well and comfortably without losing stability, on the contrary.
@@JonnyLeeguitarist I bought mine used three months ago and it was set so hard that I couldn't take a corner quickly. Now I have properly adjusted the chassis and it almost drives itself.Sits firmly in every corner and is a lot of fun.
ZX10R is the daddy of 1000cc spoertsbikes, I ride a gen 1 2005 c2h 10r awesome machine 😎 also ride 7r and 9r all good bikes but 10r is most fun .No electronics on the gen 1 and is a pure HOOLIGAN of a bike 😁
That scream / laugh when you gave her a bit is always awesome to hear. I’m looking at a 2011 zx10r tomorrow. Hoping it can be lowered a little because I’m a kinda shortish girl. I’m excited 😜
@@JonnyLeeguitarist 😁 will do. Happy Sunday. It’s a little different for me, I currently ride a Harley🤣 but I want to ride as many as I can. Was looking at a S1k but I’m not 💯 sold on it so I will trust my gut. My mate has a zx10r, his seems low at stock height and I can sit on it okay so I think it will be awesome for me once lowered about 1-1.5 inches. Cheers
Never rode a sport bike that didn’t hurt. There are some amazing seat options that can help with the ass pain. The posture is just what it is. But a good squishy seat can prolong your ride time. 😊
Just bought the 2005 version and had to get 200 miles done on it to get used it. It wonderful and terrifying at the same time, Ill have this bike for a while I think!
thats awesome to hear . im picking up a 05’ zx10r this weekend. im super excited and makes me happy to read all the positive comments about the Gen 1(s) . Makes me happier knowing im gonna get a great machine
Can confirm, I have a 2008 that had a few mods when I got it. The day I bought it I hopped on and left the dealership and rolled the throttle because a liter bike is a liter bike right? Yeah, no, this bike about kicked me right off the back of it when the power band kicked in passing 9K RPM and gave me one hell of a wake up call. If i hadn't have already had my legs clamped onto the tank I might just have actually gone off the back of the bike. I describe it to other people as a liter bike "can" kill you, the Gen 3 ZX10r WANTS to kill you.
I have a zx10r 2013 and I love mine. I'm a brit but I live in USA and there are a few spots where I can get it up to 160. This bike though is not really good for roads because it's low end power is so so but to experience it's mo strous power you got to be up in the hundreds..anyway I love mine! Oh yeah, they are extremely uncomfortable
Got a zzr1400 gen2 with 26k on the clock. Swapping it for a 09 zx10r with 8k tomorrow. I dont expect it to be as fast as the 14 but time for somthing different
I've had two of them and totally agree if you don't respect it it will kick ya fukin head in but what an amazing raw piece of ballistic engineering it is and dirt cheap now ❤
Hello guys i have a 250r for 4 years now and im thinking about geting a 09 zx10. Ive never crashed nor have I fallen but i do live on a small island any thoughts?
@@JonnyLeeguitarist mines a measly gen 1 but even with just a decat it got 10bhp more and after John fiddled with it 187bhp at the wheel and 204bhp at the crank
it's basically the same motor. Same bore and stroke, lower compression. You can take a gen 1 motor and make it behave the same as a 2022 motor. every zx10 generation has the same bore/stroke ratio
2 years in, still only been up to 9k on mine, it's ridiculous how quick that thing really is. I'm 54 now and I think being older, the brain doesn't compute quickly enough lol.
I hate beginner bikes they ain't fun & faster than a monster bike, im about to jump head first to a zx10r tomorrow, I'll learn more about the bike along the way cus getting a beginner bike sucks, I want a road monster not a kitty bullshyt bike with no speed & power,
Yeah no bro, start on a 600 or maybe a 750. Get some experience under your belt and then jump up to a liter bike. Some people will say you can do it no problem and they’re right but the amount of people I’ve seen jump onto 1000s for their first bikes and then drop them is insane.
@@eddieace345 I had my zx10r for 2 months never had no issues before i got the bike I been studying shifting & rev matching & wheelies shyt easy, I've redlined it twice & hit 180 on the mark, only scared people not confident for liter bikes if you ride properly & know what your doing its easy to learn like I did
@@cameronaasman12 I was to confident for a 600 & 750 I been studying for too long for small stages i got my zx10r & its lit never had problems no one can even tell im a beginner I know about my bike & what it can do its all about confidents,
