According to reports, Doc Rivers and Los Angeles Clippers owner Steve Ballmer had several lengthy phone conversations following their Game 7 loss to the Denver Nuggets. Ballmer also spoke with several players, including Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, about moving on from Rivers. The report said the players’ opinions did not sway Ballmer and it was his decision in the end to move on from Doc as the Clippers head coach. @Stretch Shorty Doc still did better as a coach last year with lesser talent. So saying Doc should be fired is a drastic overreaction when it was their stars that underperformed. Everyone says he should've done something with DJ, Blake, and Paul, but when were all three of those guys 100% healthy during the same playoff run? Not until they split up. Doc lost his job because his players flat out didn't want to be there and their poor performances shown that. That's on the Clippers roster, not on Doc as a head coach.

Doc got out coached yeah but coaching can’t make shots fall in. We went freezing cold in almost every second half in games 5 6 and 7. Yeah he should’ve made adjustments but it seems like the players are full of themselves. There’s reports that they’re just disrespecting pg knowing none of them are better than him besides kawhi nor did anyone on the team play well besides kawhi. they need an attitude adjustment or something. It’s docs fault tho for letting it get to this point

As flawed as Skips logic is, this one has some merit. The east after MJ and before Giannis in 2019 was a cakewalk, where it was one team that you knew was going to make it to the Finals, and possibly one challenger. Only by 2019 did you start to have at least a bit of competition before the conference finals. Look at the east right now: six teams fighting for the top spots. Thats what the East developed into. And yeah, while I acknowledge any ring as a win, because at the end of the day, thats what matters, I'd be lying if I said it wasnt easy. Lets see, the first round, he plays a team with a 35-39 losing record. The second round he plays a team led by two guys who have never performed that well in the Playoffs and were taken to 7 games by CP3 and the Thunder who werent even expected to make the Playoffs. The Conference Finals, he plays the Denver Nuggets, who pulled off a tremendous upset, freeing the Lakers of playing the one team that was on their level. And in the Finals they were taken to 6 games by an injured Miami Heat team without Adebayo or Dragic. Look, I respect the championship he won, but dont act like it wasnt easy.

coaches in the nba don't do much. they give cookie cutter speeches during timeouts and half time and that is about it except drawing up a play or two. most of the time it's just players playing ball and if it doesn't work it doesn't work. coaches are useful as scapegoats that is about it

Lob City was never at their full potential because Blake couldn’t even stay healthy and did you forget how bad the Clippers were before Doc got there? PG and Kawhi sold the bag because they were not mentally and physically ready for the playoffs and Doc was used as the scapegoat

I never thought adding Leonard and George to the same team was very smart. They are too similar as players. It is hard to win when your two best players are clones. You need to have some diversity on the roster, so each player plays their own role. They are good-to-great players on their own, but somewhat cancel each other out and minimize each other's effectiveness when both are on the court at the same time.

So check this out right Kawhi wins a championship in Toronto goes into the off season talking to 3 teams; The Clippers, The Lakers & The Raptors. Kawhi makes the decision to go to the Lakers but not to play with LeBron... to play with Anthony Davis. He signs a 2+1 with the Clippers to match 1. LeBron leaving his prime or retiring from the league 2. AD gets his max first so they’re contract doesn’t interfere with each other He signs with the clippers no harm no foul but the clippers went all out getting Morris and Paul George thereon jeopardizing they’re future only to find out that Kawhi is actually playing them to get to the Lakers and this was all negotiated during the offseason during they’re meeting. Chess moves by the Lakers, while the Clippers are playing Checkers. Kawhi wanted to play for the Lakers all along alongside AD There Was No Big 3 Plans!!!
