Kay found a one bedroom apartment at Prairie Gate, the Presbyterian Homes & Services senior living community in Council Bluffs, Iowa, a month after taking a tour. She immediately felt at home.
“I just felt like I’d been here forever and comfortable and people included me,” Kay recalls. “I never felt left out.”
In addition to enjoying morning coffee with her friends, Bingo and multiple entertainment options, Kay functions as an unofficial Prairie Gate tour guide. “I tell people ‘Come see me’ because I want to show them where I live,” she says referring to Prairie Gate as a “huge castle with beautiful surroundings.” “I’m always proud when they tell me ‘Boy this is nice,’” Kay adds. “I’m proud to live here.”
Kay values the full continuum of care being offered and knows there is always a place for her at Prairie Gate. “I say, ‘I have to go home,’ not ‘I have to go to Prairie Gate,’” Kay explains. “I think of this as home.”
