Kayak Camping - on the Cape Fear River 

Man I’ve got to say you are probably doing the best job at capturing what kayak adventuring is all about. Keep it up man seriously good work!

I grew up in Erwin. The Cape Fear was one of the first rivers I paddled back in the 90's and just paddled it again a few days ago with my old buddy Gill. I very much enjoyed the awesome video of the Cape Fear!

Pete, this was an awesome video my brother! I had such a great time with You, Brian & Shane. I hope I get invited back in the future. Not only was it beautiful and a fantastic adventure, but you taught me to be a better paddler as did Brian. Tough love sometimes because you guys are BRUTAL!! I could literally write a novel about our trip on the Cape Fear but this video captures it so well. The entire 2 days was a Wooooooooooooo moment! Hopefully The Beast is happy with my GoPro sacrifice. PS, I still feel You, Brian and Edgar were in on the banana pudding scam. I've never wanted banana pudding so bad in my life only to de DENIED!

Just bought my first 2 kayaks. New hobby and i'm falling in love with it already. I found the River kings channel while researching some and studying a little... I have been nothing but inspired. I'm from WV and have never been to the beautiful places in my very own state that the river kings have been. Keep up the great work! hope to see you out there one day!

About 3 miles past Lillington after short set of rapids, there is a small peninsula after 2 sets of washboard rapids, excellent camp site, small gravel, we called it lunch break island, lots of shade, old wood, and trees for hammock. My cache is in the shoot, go pro Hero at bottom of river😂

Another awesome video Pete! I just drove south to move my in-laws back to New York from Florida and drove a 26 foot U-Haul back north. Every time I drove over a river and especially New River twice, all I could think about was doing a kayak camping trip with ya! :-) I really like the looks of doing a stretch of the Susquehanna in Pennsie!

So my wife and I, along with some friends, were out kayaking the Lumber River early this morning, I take my phone out to snap a photo and I see a notification about your new post....my wife, knowing my affinity for River Kings videos, asked if I was going to watch the video while floating down the Lumber...lol. Though tempted, I did wait until I got home.

These are great videos and honestly I was watching to see if you would show my river cabin it came up right after minute 8:39 but you cut to the falls section.

Awesome video. I just did the Buckhorn Dam to Lillington section yesterday. Do you know what the river gauge at Lillington was when you were on the river? It was between 2 and 2.5 while I was on the river and it seemed like a little more water would have made it easier on the boat. I put 10 years worth of rock marks on the bottom of my kayak in the rock garden. :-) I went river right at Lanier Falls and it was a fun drop. I saw Caleb at the Cape Fear River Outfitters and I told him that he was internet famous. He said I was the first person to call him out. Keep up the good work. I am in NC so I am always checking out your videos for local inspiration.

Alot of people I go with don't enjoy the paddle aspect of kayaking. They float. Me I enjoy covering some miles

Tied to the Yak/canoe or have a float on your camera. My go pro clamp mount has a pool noodle around it. My Fuji Camer has a float tied on it as well. Nice Video RK !

At 40:30 on the left side of that channel is some interesting rock art. Same rapid on the left bank is more rock art. Most of it is victoian era

Mermaid Point Restaurant/used to be called Howard's BBQ has the best BBQ. I plan on making a trip down there soon and bringing 5 to 10 lbs of BBQ back to Randolph county.

Mr river king. I too am a paddler from early childhood and i too live in alamance county making my home river the haw. It seems .we paddle alot of the same rivers.but my question to you is .you seem to know alot more about access places. All the best put ins and take outs. The guy who got me into this sport was my old scout master and he just passed away a couple years back.and i can no longer ask these things of him.this has left me pretty much paddling the nantahala and frenchbroad. Oh and ofcouse the haw over and over. Is there any kind of book or whatever that i can get this info.best places to put in. Best secions to run for whoever im babysitting that day etc. Any clue?

Quick question for anyone here who has the kelty Noah 12, do you have any issues with water misting through or any other issues? I’ve read some reviews about it not being what you think it is. Thanks!
