My brother and I have recently subscribed to your RU-vid channel. We have thoroughly enjoyed your videos. We're new to the area here in Tennessee, right outside of Nashville, on a lake called Old Hickory Lake. It's a reservoir off the Cumberland River. I wasn't able to go today, but my brother applied the knowledge we've gained from your videos, and he caught the biggest catfish of his life - a 40lb flathead. Thank you for your detailed videos and lee them coming!
This is his brother, Dylan Fields. We are twins btw. But I tried to tell him he needed to come! Just wanted to say thanks myself for the knowledge! Totally different fishing down here compared to back home. It was nice to be able to apply what I see on here and actually get results. And Also just wanted to let you know, especially after watching you, that we don't fly by kayaks, or any other fishermen for that matter. We used to do some kayaking back home and know how it is. Stay safe and keep up the awesome videos!
+Dustin Fields Thank you for the nice comment. It is always great to hear that my videos have been helpful. I have never fished the Cumberland but I hear there is some good fishing there. Congrats to your brother on his new personal best! That was a beast that he caught. Good luck to both of you!
+Dylan Fields Thanks Dylan! Congrats on your big fish! I am glad you have found the videos helpful and have been able to apply the info. It is great to know that people actually benefit from this. Good luck out there! I hope you catch many more big fish.
Justin this video helped me acquire my old town predator 13 used...your a great dude ....you help people for free with these videos ....I’m trying to figure out how to mount a trolling motor to my yak ....god bless from your Ohio valley buddy 👍🏻
I just the video of the walk around of your kayak that was awesome i liked the idea pvc camera mount and the box behind the seat with the pvc rod holders another awesome video
I bought my kayak at Sam’s club. You should try sitting in my seat. I’d love to have your seat. Lol. I can understand why you’d want to sit up higher. I need to get a better kayak. I didn’t know I’d fall in love with it the way I have. Great info. Thanks for sharing. I’ll know what to look for on my next kayak.
Great review Justin. I like the seat. I have the back down and the front up a bit. That seems to feel good to me, but I'm shorter so maybe that has something to do with it.
+Casual Carolina Fishing Thanks! I have tried every angle possible on that seat and haven't found any that really suit me. I have definitely sat in worse though lol.
When I lived in FL I NEVER bought new. Find a sponsor and they sell their kayak at the end of every season for hundreds below wholesale most of the time. My fav was my Wilderness Systems ATAK 120 however, it tracked like a bathtub without the rudder. hehe
Thanks for the info about your kayak Justin. I think I'll stick with my Lowe 2070 because I am old but was interested in your preferences and review also. tight lines.
You may have addressed this in the comments at some point, but are you using one piece or two piece rods? The link to amazon shows an 8' two piece, and a 7' one piece. I would prefer the longer version, but am having a little reservation about the two piece. Thanks!
Question about your Scotty rod holders. Your base to the rod holder is mounted in the resessed area. When removing the holder from the base , does the base stick up any above the resessed area? I ask because we carry ours upside down and anything that is not level flat with top of kayak sometimes gives us trouble.
I'm planning on getting a new yak in a few months, I'm looking at a native slayer 14, you think this would be a good choice? I'm interested in speed more than stability. Or do you think a hobie is that much better for more than double the money?
+travis dunn I have never paddled a slayer so I'm not sure how fast they are. Tough for me to answer if a Hobie is worth double the money to you. It was for me but the pedals have really helped me cover more water and have been a big improvement in the wind. If I was fishing a different body of water, I may think differently though. Try out several different brands and models if you can to see which you like the best.
I had a diy bait bucket that I kept over the side of the kayak when I used the Outback. There is a video on my channel showing how to make it. The Hobie livewell is nice but overpriced in my opinion. I made a similar tank a few months ago for my pro angler for under $100
The reels I have are an old Swedish model that isn’t made any more. They are model one 5000. I bought them used around 15 years ago. They are the equivalent to the current c3 5500 model.
I gave a like !! I hate u and your hobie lol!! I love the idea of them, but I went out on a test run in a hobie pa14 and it was huge and heavy and I wasn’t comfortable in the pedaling action. Maybe it was just that exact model though. Maybe in the future. I love the idea of a pedal kayak though
+Super Hank Outdoors I didn't care for the pro Angler either. No way I could lug that thing around 4-5 days per week. I appreciate you giving me the courtesy like lol.
question I got asked and couldn't really answer "If you could only pick or afford either a fish finder or motor for your kayak which would you pick?" figured I'd pass it to you.
